Does anyone know where I can find the display driver for this laptop? I've looked everywhere but all the links I follow seem to lead to a driver detective download. Or is there a free driver scanner that could do the job?
View 4 RepliesI was trying to install Vista in my laptop and it did not work for no reason, now the DVD-Ram driver dooes not work and I can not use my cd/dvd unit at all, does read nothing. I got a external unit and it does not recognized either. Of course I can not run winxp again, because the cd unit does nor work. Any suggestion is a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6084.

When i go to burn a dvd now or even a cd it tells me to attach an external drive, or the area where you choose which location to burn to is greyed out. I can't seem to look up the model number on the Toshiba website, the number on my receipt is A70wb200e, while the number i brought up using the system itself is mfwt020acp08.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Toshiba Power Saver is set for the screen and HDD to shut off after 30 minutes of no activity. The screen saver is set to go after 10 minutes but after 30 minutes the screen saver stops and the normal screen comes up. I tried setting to a different power setting by right clicking the desktop and going to properties and setting it to "Portable/Laptop" but it did the same thing. Is there a way to fix this? My OS is XP Media Center and my Toshiba Satellite is a A100/A105 series.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLaptop came with Vista, but I decided to put Windows XP on it instead, everything went alright, until the ATi Display drivers came in, since the Toshiba website doesn't have any XP drivers for this laptop, I've tried many many different driver packages and none of them have worked, the chipset is ATi Radeon Xpress 200M, even the drivers on the ATi website for that chipset for XP wouldn't work. What could be going on and can it be fixed?

When I open My Computer, there is a category named Other and under it there is a hard disk icon I think with a red circle over it. In the red circle is a white question mark. I have tried to use disk manager to delete it but it does not show up there. I have also tried using partition magic t delete it but it doesn't see it until I create a AF format partition. Then when I restart, it claims to be it but I still can not delete it in partition magic, on rebot, it says it is not visible and even when partition magic sees it, disk manager does not. Has anyone encountered this and know how to get rid of it. I have also tried ad-aware and hijack this but neither found it. Please help, this thing is driving me nuts!

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5000 with Vista home on it and it works OK, but I bought a larger HDD and I thought that I would put Windows XP PRO on it, I went from a Hitachi 160GB 2.5" SATA drive to a 250GB drive, same Manufacturer, the only difference in the drives is the original was a SATA 1.50 and the new drive is a 3.0, BIOS see's the drive and the XP disk does al the usual stuff, then it asks if you want to Install windows on it, so I click OK and then it says the windows cannot detect any HDD and aborts the installation, I know that the 2 SATA's are compatible and the only draw back is that the 3.0 may operate in the 1.5 mode in the worse case scenario, but windows doesn't see the drive at all.

Now it is happening all the time which can be help somewhat by refresh, changing the desktop picture, and/or logging off then on I have tried, disabling the 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro using device manager. At first it was OK but at low resolution (VGA I think), but when it asked if I wanted to let windows manage the graphics it got garbled again. I have reset resolutions down to 800 x 600 using the graphics card but that doesn't help.

One of my major issues is the fact I don't have/can't afford internet at home and its difficult to bring my pc tower to work. Not sure if it's an update issue, and tried loading updated bios and driver.my computer works for awhile and then either totally locks up to where I have to manually shut off/reboot or it loses display and then jumps to the safe mode display mode and tells me the above message. When rebooting, sometimes it will have to sit for 5-10 minutes before I can get it to turn back on (machine beeps and dies with fans running only).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a situation that I am not able to resolve.A friend went into the display settings and disabled the display driver which shut down the video output when Windows XP runs.After the bios does the boot process, you can hear the Windows start up sound but there is no desktop.There is just a blank screen.I have attempted to boot in safe mode and no luck.I have tried to boot to the last good setting.I have also attempted to boot with an XP disk and repair, but there is an administrator password preventing me from going any farther with this option.

My question is this. The graphics driver that it recommended upgrading (Intel 82915G or 82910GL) is not the same Intel graphics chipset that I have installed on the computer (82845G/GL).Which update should I install? I wanted to clean off the hard drive, so I tried to reinstall xp using a friend?s cd because the only xp cd I could find was an upgrade (from win98).I don?t know what I did wrong (or if the problem was with the cd), but setup got into a loop we could not get out of.Since I had my xp cd to upgrade from 98, we tried to install win98.
