Registry Damage W/program Deletes ?

No programing exp. Started w/program removal when PC slowed. Both CD roms are ? on hardware list and cannot be actavated. Error 41 notice and Easy CD creator warning from msn when ckd. for help True about uninstall of Easy CD BUT printer is damaged and tried reinstall and changed cartridges Etc. My accounts screen repeats itself and has desk top items superimposed at times. will dump and start over but don't have any exp. how to.
I built this machine and it ran well till now

Lately my PC has become infected with a number of viruses. It started with a fake Secuirty tool called 'XP Secuirty Tool'. Using Hitman Pro 3.5 and Spybot I thought I got rid of it until a few days ago when more started to appear on my PC, with Hitman picking them up and removing them. The last one I that appeared I think was XP Defender and caused my PC to lock.After restarting and running Malwarebytes Anti-maleware it discovered 47 infections which it cleared to finish the removal of the infected files/folders I was asked to restart my PC.

When I use Disc Clean Up it deletes everything I tick but when I check afterwards it is sill leaaving the WebClient/Publisher Temporary Files - 32KB in.

I was uninstalling a prog that had a trojan in it. I deleted the registry keys and such;manuelling removing it because the Explorer.exe would shut down every time I tried to do it the old fasion way Wink So, I was going through, and I accidentally deleted the Uninstall registry key Which has led all the installed progs to not show up in the Add/Remove Programs gui that's in Control Panel.And so, I am wondering if I have to wait until tommorow to do this, when I have the windows cd. Or if I'm able to just do some other recovery.I restarted and held down F8, and did the "Last known good configuration" thing, but it said I had to replace hal.dll.

Am Running Windows XP home with SP2 on a P4 machine,everything running smoothly except that I tried to uninstall a program through the control panel-add/remove route and even though most programs are listed there, only a few of them like 5 out of 40 odd have the change/remove button when the particular program name is clicked. It just shows size, used frequency and last used on, I cannot uninstall those programs incl. the officeXP package. I am absolutely sure all this was possible few days back and tried to get my system back to a 7-8 day restore point but this does not help as well

only 5-6 programs are listed and the change/remove button only shows up for these. Where did the rest go?..as all these other programs are running on my computer. What could be the problem and how can I resolve it without re-formatting

I restarted my computer and now i cant open any of my programs.It appears the links are missing.for example, in the program files menu (start > all programs) there are no icon pictures anymore just blank icons.when i double click to open .exe files nothing occurs.(the problems occured after i restarted my computer and messages popped up asking if i wanted to change registry settings for a variety of different things so i said no to all messages)

i bought star wars battlefront 2. my swbf2 disk broken (broke disk #2). the good thing is that i could still play with disk 1... until i got a virus and had to clean install windows. luckly b4 that happened i burnt all the swbf2 data to a dvd. now i copied everything from the disk to E:programfileslucasarts starwarsbattlefrontII (its an external harddrive) but it doesnt show up in the add remove thing. i heard that the windows registry handles things like this, so how can i update the registry to show swbf2 installed? i have windows xp sp2.

I recently removed all of my file extensions with my Registry Cleaner,now I can't access anything except my browser and Email program.I was trying to clean stuff off of my computer I didn't need I just got a little carried away.I have a backup of the files on my Registry Cleaner but I can't access it,what can I do?Is there any other way to gain access to my Registry Cleaner where I can get to the backup?When I say I removed all of my file extensions I mean every single one.

I downloaded some Registry cleaner program and I guess it was a crappy one because it must have deleted a whole bunch of important registry files. I had to reboot my system and got a message saying "ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted" so in my infinite wisdom and panicked state I ran the XP recovery disks that came with my laptop (see laptop details below). But for some odd reason it just installed another version of Windows XP. Anyways after some sleuthing I used the XP disk to copy over the "ntoskrnl.exe" to my HD and all seemed okay as my original version of XP booted up okay, but then I get a blue XP screen saying "AutoChk.exe file not found- skipping AUTOCHECK" and the system restarts

I have ran scans of spysweeper and max registry cleaner, and from what i understand the actual malware is gone. the problems is i have no icons/taskbar. ive tried running explorer.exe through the task manager, which gets the taskbar to flash fora couple seconds, but it disappears shortly after. ive tried running taskbar repair tool plus, but that doesnt help me much.

i have a buddies computer here...when it boots up it goes to the xp screenthen goes to the blue screen saying it stopped so as not to damage windows.....i tried reinstall ...repair install even tried to put in new hard drive and done a clean install from a raw disk!!it would start once or twice then try to start again and get this blue screen again!!i took out everything hardware wise and it still happens

I have an almost new HP Pavilion zd8120cl, and run windows XP. I have all of my Virus protection (Norton System Works Premier 2005) updated ( I do it daily along with any MS updates).Yesterday I opened an email from a friend that was sending me some documents, right after this is when all the trouble began. The documents did not open but a quick screen note that said something like "downloading giant anti spyware program" I turned of my modem right away. I downloaded a game and mirosoft came on and said this program could damage your computer and allow viruses and other security threats. when I try to start up windows I get the screen with the windows xp logo and the bar thingy that runs through the box. It looks something like this picture I made in MS Paint. Yeah, well you get the idea. I'm thinking it could have damaged one of the system files, something similar happened to my uncle. He was shutting down his computer and he all of a sudden pulled the power and his computer went dead because it was the exact wrong time to pull the power.

This problem just started yesterday, all because i think of when the power breaker went. It was in the middle of Shutting down windows and the power breaker went so my computer got shut off incorrectly. I started getting a memory dump screen when i tried to log into windows. So i put in the windows disk and did a Repair Install. that worked fine, I got it working and everything. Then I got a windows update installed from MS website... the whole Automatic Updare thing. Then I went to restart the comp cuz it was required, then my system could not load past the login screen, just always did a memory dump. so i went and tryed to Repair windows again, now i get this error

My daughter 'flooded' the basement yesterday. We quickly unplugged her computer and found a slight amount of water on the bottom of her tower. Now, her computer seems to start up ok but there is no picture on the monitor. None of the wires got wet, but there is a small opening on the bottom where the case closes. Is it possible that so little water damaged her computer? It's only the monitor that doesn't work. We hooked up an old one as well, no luck.

I have recently been getting a "blue screen of death" or windows crash screen and have been trying to get a solution. I was running a computer game several days ago and began to notice crackling in the speakers every now and then and became concerned. It has an MSI board, Celeron D cedermill at 2.2ghz. Western Digital 160gb sata drive. I don't think any of that really matters, but heres the problem. When trying to install windows XP, after loading all the drivers it needs and it gets to 'starting windows' a blue screen comes up saying something like 'your system was turned off to prevent further damage. The hard drive works fine in another system, and so doesn't installing xp. I put the hard drive with xp installed. It tries to load, same screen. But it installs windows 2000 without glitch.

At the end of january, I was on the web and all of the sudden firefox shut down.My desktop background had been replaced with a blue background with a black box in the middle telling me I had a virus and needed to by some software to get rid of it. I was unable to change the desktop back ground. Also, I noticed that after this incident, there was a particular folder on my second hard drive (I have two total) that would crash windows explorer everytime I tried to open, or even moved my mouse cursor over it in "my computer". This particular folder contains several gigabytes of music, video, and pictures most of which is not backed up.I have also tried accessing the folder with a 3rd party file explorer program, and it crashes that program as well.After running several different spyware programs, I was able to get the blue screen with black box removed from my desktop background, but it has been replaced with an error message saying my active desktop has been disabled (even though I can't turn it on or off in the options menu) and I am still unable to change the background.

So first of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with Windows XP Home SP3. Some background info that may or may not be relevant: I just had this OS installed though the computer is several years old (I had an ingenuine XP Pro before I cleared my C drive and installed a genuine XP Home). The XP installed was SP1 and then I did all the WUDs up to now I where I have SP3. Also, during that period, I had done a repair install because of some error I was getting following installation of a WUD. I don't know if any of that will be relevant at all, but just thought I should mention it.

When i have had my computer on for a long period of time it sudely comes up with a blue screen sayying. " windows has had to shut down your computer to prevent damage.Does anyone know how i can over come this? Do you need the technical infomration to resolve this .

My dell 9100 got a virus (Trojan horse XP antivirus) I got it off but avg anti virus would not update could not change the screen saver it posted and began getting the dreaded blue death screen problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage. the stop message is 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xf84ca245,oxf808d7b4,0x00000000). So i reformatted the hard drive and when I go to reload xp it does not recognize the dell xp/media edition dvd. I have an XP home edition so I tried it and it allows me to get to the point where you partition the drive and then i get the same error message
