System Restarting During Boot: Shut Down To Prevent Damage?

system is restarting automatically during the boot process. An error message is flashed briefly before it restarts: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. "If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.If this screen appears again, follow these steps:"Run a system diagnostic utility suppied by your hardware manufacturer. In particular run a memory check, and check for faulty or mismatched memory. .
Try changing video adapters"Disable or remove any newly installed hardware and drivers. Disable or remove any newly installed software. My computer is not booting up. A while back while using my computer a blue screen popped up saying that windows encountered an error and that it would shut down to prevent damage. When that happened I simply restarted my computer and everything was fine. This happened one or two times later and everything was fine. Today it happened again and when I went to restart it it the blue screen popped up immediately after that. On the third time I went to restart it the computer just said boot failure and did nothing. Every time I try to restart it does the same thing. It will let me press f2 for the start up settings but when I press f8 for safe mode it does nothing.

This problem just started yesterday, all because i think of when the power breaker went. It was in the middle of Shutting down windows and the power breaker went so my computer got shut off incorrectly. I started getting a memory dump screen when i tried to log into windows. So i put in the windows disk and did a Repair Install. that worked fine, I got it working and everything. Then I got a windows update installed from MS website... the whole Automatic Updare thing. Then I went to restart the comp cuz it was required, then my system could not load past the login screen, just always did a memory dump. so i went and tryed to Repair windows again, now i get this error

So first of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with Windows XP Home SP3. Some background info that may or may not be relevant: I just had this OS installed though the computer is several years old (I had an ingenuine XP Pro before I cleared my C drive and installed a genuine XP Home). The XP installed was SP1 and then I did all the WUDs up to now I where I have SP3. Also, during that period, I had done a repair install because of some error I was getting following installation of a WUD. I don't know if any of that will be relevant at all, but just thought I should mention it.

I was recently trying to install Medieval Total War II onto my computer. I've had it installed before in the past, and it worked fine on my computer. I wanted to play it again, so when I went to install it it gave me the blue screen. She can't get into windows at all. When I turn on her computer it goes to a black screen that gives me a choice to boot in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration. It is Windows XP Dell Laptop. I've tried them all, everytime it just goes straight to the same Blue Screen with same message.
She doesnt have a recovery cd with her.

It has an MSI board, Celeron D cedermill at 2.2ghz. Western Digital 160gb sata drive. I don't think any of that really matters, but heres the problem. When trying to install windows XP, after loading all the drivers it needs and it gets to 'starting windows' a blue screen comes up saying something like 'your system was turned off to prevent further damage. The hard drive works fine in another system, and so doesn't installing xp. I put the hard drive with xp installed. It tries to load, same screen. But it installs windows 2000 without glitch.

My dell 9100 got a virus (Trojan horse XP antivirus) I got it off but avg anti virus would not update could not change the screen saver it posted and began getting the dreaded blue death screen problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage. the stop message is 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xf84ca245,oxf808d7b4,0x00000000). So i reformatted the hard drive and when I go to reload xp it does not recognize the dell xp/media edition dvd. Before I explain my problem, I'd like to say that this seems to be a registry problem. I tried installing Taksi three days ago and got this message "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and it didn't really bother me, checking out different software is a hobby of mine, it's not like I actually I needed it. I thought it was the developer's fault. But anyways, now I realize can't install anything that is packaged as an msi. I'm an administrator on my computer, but not the root, sadly. I have recently been getting a "blue screen of death" or windows crash screen and have been trying to get a solution. I was running a computer game several days ago and began to notice crackling in the speakers every now and then and became concerned. I sincerely hope you can succeed where others have failed. Since flashing my BIOS recently, I have been unable to shutdown my PC without it restarting automatically. I am aware of some possible causes i.e Roxio, I do not have that on my system. It is something that occured since the flash upgrade. The upgrade I used was Award BIOS TypePhoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG I have set optimum values in BIOS and tried shutting down from safe mode to eliminate any added USB devices etc.

I have searched for an answer to my problem but have not been able to fix it. My pc restarts when I try to shut down and every time I get this stop error: stop error 0x0000008E (0X0000005, 0X8062A21D, 0XF77A7A50, 0X00000000) It also does a scan disk check every time I restart also. And it will not defrag.I have rolled back some drivers that I updated but that did not help. I have win xp and I have current antivirus and spyware programs.

when I try to start up windows I get the screen with the windows xp logo and the bar thingy that runs through the box. It looks something like this picture I made in MS Paint. Yeah, well you get the idea. I'm thinking it could have damaged one of the system files, something similar happened to my uncle. My wife fired up her PC this morning and it would not complete the boot process. Shows Windows XP page, then COMPAQ page, then black screen, then back to Windows XP page. Just keeps going in circles. I have switched it off and tried again but usually with same results. A couple of times I have gotten page saying there was a problem and asking if I wanted to start in safe mode. I've tried this. Seems to rapidly scroll through a bunch of lines of info, then quickly go back to the reboot cycle. I can go into setup or recovery from the COMPAQ page. I want to avoid having to reload all my wife's applications though. I don't have the original XP disk. I have current antivirus/spyware (AVG paid version, installed about a week ago). We've made no other recent hardware/software changes, although my daughter was on the net last night!

It just keeps restarting before it even lets me see a boot screen? Keeps restarting every 6 secs or so. Sometimes 2secs. Monitor keeps blinking its standby light. I never see anything on the screen. nadda. Just one reboot ago I installed PortIO32 driver manually. Could that have something to do with it? Installed PortIO32 driver to Flash my 360 drive. Flash was successful, but after I shut down ,unplugged SATA to XBOX drive and re-inserted SATA to its original pc dvd drive this happened.
