I have an intel pentium4 system with 506 processor with intel motherboard (d101ggc) running on windows xp home with 512mb memory with one sata hard disk and two pat hard disks.Of late I have been having problems while shutting down after installing a software. the blue screen reads as follows."A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. ****DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUA IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU'VE SEEN THIS STOP ERROR SCREEN, RESTAART YOUR COMPUTER. iF THIS SCREEN APPEAR AGAIN FOLLOW THESE STEPS.

My dell 9100 got a virus (Trojan horse XP antivirus) I got it off but avg anti virus would not update could not change the screen saver it posted and began getting the dreaded blue death screen problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage. the stop message is 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xf84ca245,oxf808d7b4,0x00000000). So i reformatted the hard drive and when I go to reload xp it does not recognize the dell xp/media edition dvd. I have an XP home edition so I tried it and it allows me to get to the point where you partition the drive and then i get the same error message

my laptop just keeps on crashing. everytime i open my laptop, when it goes to the part where windows is loading it will reboot again and again, ive tried to use saftey mode, it doesnt work as well, and somehow i came to this blue screen. She can't get into windows at all. When I turn on her computer it goes to a black screen that gives me a choice to boot in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration. It is Windows XP Dell Laptop. I've tried them all, everytime it just goes straight to the same Blue Screen with same message.
She doesnt have a recovery cd with her.

This problem just started yesterday, all because i think of when the power breaker went. It was in the middle of Shutting down windows and the power breaker went so my computer got shut off incorrectly. I started getting a memory dump screen when i tried to log into windows. So i put in the windows disk and did a Repair Install. that worked fine, I got it working and everything. Then I got a windows update installed from MS website... the whole Automatic Updare thing. Then I went to restart the comp cuz it was required, then my system could not load past the login screen, just always did a memory dump. so i went and tryed to Repair windows again, now i get this error

I have recently been getting a "blue screen of death" or windows crash screen and have been trying to get a solution. I was running a computer game several days ago and began to notice crackling in the speakers every now and then and became concerned. It has an MSI board, Celeron D cedermill at 2.2ghz. Western Digital 160gb sata drive. I don't think any of that really matters, but heres the problem. When trying to install windows XP, after loading all the drivers it needs and it gets to 'starting windows' a blue screen comes up saying something like 'your system was turned off to prevent further damage. The hard drive works fine in another system, and so doesn't installing xp. I put the hard drive with xp installed. It tries to load, same screen. But it installs windows 2000 without glitch.

So first of all, I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with Windows XP Home SP3. Some background info that may or may not be relevant: I just had this OS installed though the computer is several years old (I had an ingenuine XP Pro before I cleared my C drive and installed a genuine XP Home). The XP installed was SP1 and then I did all the WUDs up to now I where I have SP3. Also, during that period, I had done a repair install because of some error I was getting following installation of a WUD. I don't know if any of that will be relevant at all, but just thought I should mention it.

Before I explain my problem, I'd like to say that this seems to be a registry problem. I tried installing Taksi three days ago and got this message "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and it didn't really bother me, checking out different software is a hobby of mine, it's not like I actually I needed it. I thought it was the developer's fault. But anyways, now I realize can't install anything that is packaged as an msi. I'm an administrator on my computer, but not the root, sadly. (I received the computer as a gift from someone who had no use for the computer and had forgotten their password.) First, I installed Windows Installer 3.1 over my current installation to no avail. I was recently trying to install Medieval Total War II onto my computer. I've had it installed before in the past, and it worked fine on my computer. I wanted to play it again, so when I went to install it it gave me the blue screen. My computer is not booting up. A while back while using my computer a blue screen popped up saying that windows encountered an error and that it would shut down to prevent damage. When that happened I simply restarted my computer and everything was fine. This happened one or two times later and everything was fine. Today it happened again and when I went to restart it it the blue screen popped up immediately after that. On the third time I went to restart it the computer just said boot failure and did nothing. Every time I try to restart it does the same thing. It will let me press f2 for the start up settings but when I press f8 for safe mode it does nothing.

Lately my PC has become infected with a number of viruses. It started with a fake Secuirty tool called 'XP Secuirty Tool'. Using Hitman Pro 3.5 and Spybot I thought I got rid of it until a few days ago when more started to appear on my PC, with Hitman picking them up and removing them. The last one I that appeared I think was XP Defender and caused my PC to lock.After restarting and running Malwarebytes Anti-maleware it discovered 47 infections which it cleared to finish the removal of the infected files/folders I was asked to restart my PC.

I downloaded a game and mirosoft came on and said this program could damage your computer and allow viruses and other security threats. Thinking I had my security to tight, this has happened before and I went ahead and downloaded and played the game. My problem.I can't get into the following: My Doc. My recent Doc., My music, my computer, instead I get this Windows Ex. has encounters a problem and needs to close. I have sent error reports at no avail.Also it has tied up my Trend Micro and all I get when I go to T.M. Is the game name and open file security warning on the game because of unknown publisher. I looked up that game it is Puzzle Detcetive set up application # 209KB from # 64.92-235.35. If that means any thing a blue screen?

This is weird. I have to go through the shutdown procedure twice, i.e., Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok, then Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok again. It will then shutdown properly. The same thing happens when I try to "Restart." After doing the first shutdown sequence, everything is normal. I can open programs, surf the web, etc. It's as if I never tried to shut it down at all. Only after the second shutdown procedure will it shutdown fully. One note: When I go through the first shutdown sequence, my taskbar pops up and the desktop is darkened. After clicking Ok, the taskbar autohides and my desktop returns to its normal color.I have only had this problem for the last month or two. Before that, all was fine. It's not critical since I can shut it down. It's just annoying to have to do it twice.I have Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, build 5.00.2195.

When attempting to "shutdown" or "reboot", I have to do it twice. When I select "Start" then either shutdown or reboot, my desktop will flicker a couple of times, and then nothing appears to happen. I must select "start" again and then either shutdown or reboot and then they will work as expected.

I did a clean install of XP Pro on my Dell and now I always get "It is now safe to shutdown your computer" when I power it down. I was running 98se and it always shut down by itself so I'm sure the bios supports this as some have suggested to me.

just curious on if ppl think hibernating or shuting down windows is best i tested both and found hibernating twice as fast turning off (6 seconds) to 12 seconds shutdown.it turns on 4 times faster after hibernating.

my computer it won't shut down or restart i have verizon and it comes wit a internet security suite and it has a anitvirus on it. i wouldn't update so i uninstalled it and installed it again but when its done it says u need to restart the computer so the programs can work rite but the cmputer won't restart it jus stays there and when i hit shutdown it jus stays there too. its like my computer won't shutdown or restart when i want it to.
