Program Uninstall Information Missing In The Registry And Add/remove

Jun 5, 2006

Am Running Windows XP home with SP2 on a P4 machine, everything running smoothly except that I tried to uninstall a program through the control panel-add/remove route and even though most programs are listed there, only a few of them like 5 out of 40 odd have the change/remove button when the particular program name is clicked. It just shows size, used frequency and last used on, I cannot uninstall those programs incl. the officeXP package. I am absolutely sure all this was possible few days back and tried to get my system back to a 7-8 day restore point but this does not help as well

In registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall "
only 5-6 programs are listed and the change/remove button only shows up for these. Where did the rest go?..as all these other programs are running on my computer. What could be the problem and how can I resolve it without re-formatting

When you uninstall, or in the add/remove program delete, do all the items of the program uninstall. Especially the drivers, I am having a small problem on the computer and I know its due to an unapproved windows driver installed by accident for my sandisk reader. How can you find out the drivers installed on your computer?

I am so tired of this stupid information bar appearing every time I do something on the internet. I am a very smart computer user, so I really don't need to get all of these warnings.Thing is, I have no clue how to completely turn it off. It seems like MS completely integrated it into IE, which is what I hate. I don't want to switch to Firefox, so don't ask.

Remove Downloaded Update And Remove Registry Edit

Feb 21, 2008

I recently uninstalled Windows SP3 RC1 from my computer and reverted back to Windows SP2 through the use of Projekt (Project) Dakota. Before uninstallation though, one of my siblings had run this script to update to Windows SP3 RC2. I do not want to install the newest RC2, as I'm now waiting for a final release. I changed my Windows Update Settings to download but to not install, as it was already downloaded from yesterday. Is there anyway to remove the already downloaded but not installed update for Windows SP3 RC2, and is there anyway to remove the script (that tells the computer to download SP3 RC2?)

When trying to uninstall, it falsely tells me I need to rerun them from an "Administrators account" I have two accounts on WinXP, both admins, and have even tried in Safe Mode 'Administrator' account and get the same error no matter what. I have scanned with RegistryMechanic(registered), Adaware Personal SE(free), Housecall (FullScan), and Norton Antivirus. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information. I kind of left it alone for a while and since then want to install Windows XP Pro. I tried to insert the Pro cd, but it wouldn't continue installation since it prepared installation from the Home cd. I've created boot disks with fdisk and format in order to just wipe the drives. However, the computer will not open the disk. I hear that it reads it but then doesn't load anything. I've used this same kind of disk for another PC and it works fine. I know the floppy drive on this pc works because when I tried to install Raid drivers previously, it read it.

How to delete a program that won't uninstall through the add or remove programs in the control panel.
Step # 1.Go to this site and download Microsofts uninstaller and run it and if the program you want to get rid of is on the list select it and remove from your computer.
Step # 2. Click on start , click on run, type regedit, and when it opens click on HKey local machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, click on the plus sign for uninstall and it opens all the programs installed on your computer , scroll and see if the program you want to get rid of is on the listif it is right click on it and delete it.
Step # 3. Click on start, click on run, type msconfig, and when it opens click on BOOT.INI and check the box that says, SAFE MODE. Boot the computer to safe mode and when it opens click on DRIVE C and click on program files and click on the folder of the program you want to delete from your computer and delete it. Then click on the common files folder and see if it is in there and if it is delete it. Important now, go back to click on start, click on run, type msconfig, and when it opens click on BOOT.INI and uncheck the box that says, SAFE MODE or you will boot to safe mode again.Once I remembered doing all the above steps and it still started up so I ran hijackthis and deleted the entries and it was gone for good.
