I use Windows XP. I have two problems using the Add/Remove function in my Control Panel: specifically I want to remove a program called "Creative Zen V Series (R2). The prompt after attempting to remove comes back with "The specific module could not be found" and leaves the program showing. I need to get rid of this entry. Secondly I want to remove "Calendar Creator 9" and when this is selected to remove, I get a prompt that says "To install the program it must first be removed using the Control Panel function Add/Remove. This is frustrating as that is exactly what I'm trying to do, NOT INSTALL the program again.
I un-installed a program (The Weather Channel) from the add & remove Programs and all other locations, including Icons have been deleted, excepting the Icon in the Control Panel. I have Window XP operating system and can no longer access the control panel. The icon is no longer available on my Start Menu. There is an icon called Set Program Access and Defaults and when I click on it it tells me "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". This is a private home computer, not on a system. Though I am a regular computer user I have few technical skills and may have entered an incorrect command.

I discovered that my main computer had acquired the 'Pure Networks Platform' mess, possibly from when I installed a Linksys WRT 160n wireless router. The actual software doesn't seem to be on the setup cd, but I haven't downloaded it either. Have figured out that its give me slowdowns and wierdnesses and generally making me mad. Especially when I find that it does not show in Add Remove! Tried searching for Pure Networks remover, and other variations in wording. Find that lots of people have similar difficulties. What is the trick? Safe mode and delete the folders? Search the registry manually?
Can I remove a program's tray icon ( the one that appears near the volume icon in the taskbar ) without removing the program nor closing it? I want to totally remove the tray icon from near the volume one in the taskbar, so that it would not appear while the program is running. I don't want to hide it, but to totally REMOVE it from the system tray, Can I? Can I edit the registry for doing that or something else?
I'd seen some discussions in this group about removing icons from the systray but that requires stopping the program from being executed by Startup using the 'msconfig' command. Is there a method/program of removing the icon from systray but leave the associated program running? Unfortunately, the program I'm running doesn't have an option to remove it from systray.
im having a very hard time connecting to certain things or networks, and supposedly its because i need to alter my settings in my windows firewall thing, but when i go to control panel, both in category view and in classic view, there is no button or shortcut to windows firewall, ive also did a file and folder search on my whole computer, and there are no results for windows firewall?

When I left-click on the system icon in the control panel of XP, nothing happens. If I right-click I get the choices of "open" or "create shortcut." Clicking "open" here does nothing. I assume that this means that the icon isn't pointing anywhere, but I can't figure out where to address that. No doubt this is a registry thing, but I don't wade into that quagmire alone.
I cannot open my task manager or my control panel, when ever I try to open them, it says that the administrator has deleted it or something like that(not sure, the fact that I have a Japanese computer)?I have looked all around the internet for a solution and I found the REGEDIT option but I cannot open REGEDIT for some reason. Please help. I obviously have a network connection, because I'm sending and receiving Usenet messages and can browse the Web. The problem is that Network Connections in Control Panel is blank, empty, it doesn't show anything at all. The other problem is that the Network Setup Wizard won't run.Any ideas on what the problem is (aside from user incompetence).

Does anyone know howw to remove items that are listed under add/remove programs in the control panel? I have several games and other installations that still show there even though they were fully uninstalled. They don't create a problem per se. Just wondered if there was a way to do this.
