Jun 30, 2008I can't find out which one I have. I'm on a custom built computer but I was given the OS from a friend a while back and lost the case/cd so I have no idea which one I have. So how can I find it out?

Apr 23, 2005I bought this computer a couple years back. It came preinstalled with Windows ME. Once XP came out, I bought the upgrade. When XP Pro came out, I bought that upgrade. Now, I am trying to use Server 2003 just to see how my comp will do. See, I want my speakers and microphone to work. The only problem is that they are built into the moniter. Everything worked with the speakers and microphone on all my previouse OSs. But now, on Server 2003, nothing will work.

Aug 25, 2005well i bought a wireless router for my daughters laptop to take to school. her computer has a built in wireless network in it. i cant seem to get the wireless to work. i have went to connet to and selected the wireless...but i get no where. i tried going to the connections and disabling all the connections but the wireless but still nothing. i have right clicked on the wireless connection and hit repair but when it tries to repair it tried to connect and it times out.she is home for the night and i'm trying to get her set up before she goes back....any suggestions?

Aug 28, 2009Intel DQ963FX motherboard and mated it with a Intel E2200 Dual core processor. I have 3 gig memory and a NVidia 9400 GT graphics card w/1 gig memory. The machine is not used for gaming but for everyday on line tasks. The on board graphics are disabled. I updated the Bios to the latest version and am running XP Pro SP3. I have the usual antivirus protection enabled, Purchased Zone internet suite, Nortons (kept disabled in case zone craps out)and malware bytes, Super anti malware, Spybot S&D and ad aware.Sometimes when I start this machine and go to Firefox,(or IE for that matter) the system will slow to the point that even audio is stunted. I have the latest java enabled so I don't think that is the problem. This motherboard has very little in the bios to tweak so that hasn't been tampered with too much (latest bios update was installed after the slow started). Whenever the slow down occurs if I restart the machine it will run up to speed for awhile then eventually slow down again. My old P-4 3.02 was sooo much faster that I regret ever having built this new clunker. . Is there a known problem with this mb or proc that I haven't found yet?

D: CD drive
E: DVD-RW drive
F: My Book "external drive"

Every now and then the F & T drives will switch drive letters when this happens I cannot get into the F drive. Is there some way I can get into a built in program and change drive letters??

Hard Drive Crapped Out Its Built Into The Motherboard
Aug 9, 2008Recently my hard drive crapped out on me so I had to take my external hd and use the as my internal hd.... everything worked as far as installing windows xp etc. I have a cable modem with a wireless router (which works because I'm on the laptop now), so I figured I'd hop on the internet and download some drivers etc... Well here lies the problem, computer isn't picking up the internet and when I used my ISP's cd, the cd told me that i didn't have a network adapter... I do have a network adapter; it's built into the motherboard. I downloaded a driver from intel and burned the *.exe onto a cd and ran it in hopes that it would work.

Apr 2, 2008I just got rid of Windows Vista and replaced it with Windows XP pro service pack 2. Everything works perfectly, except I don't have any of the drivers. I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

Jul 12, 2008I would like to be able to right click, and when I select new, have a submenu under the new that I could put my custom files for. I actually have used a program (Tweak UI) that allows me to to remove or add new files, but the problem I find is this.
I to a lot of HTML coding and create new files often. As much as I like conforming to strict, I have to use traditional from time to time, and I wanted to add for both. Well, when I used Tweak UI to add my strict template, and then checked out my "New ->" it was labeled as "New Firefox Document", which from reg searching I show is exactly what HTML is associated to. I wondered if there was a program, or a hack for my registry that would allow me to have a new file under the context menu that would otherwise not alter what .HTML was associated to (meaning, show "New Strict" and "New Traditional" but when you check the properties of index.html would show "Type of File: Firefox Document").
My guess is that to really pull this off, that I would have to make two new extentions (like .ext1 and .ext2) and when I make the new file, simply rename the extension. I know how to do that, but I was hoping that there was another way around it. Also, as noted above, how does one make a submenu under new to group things in? Such as
New -> Folder
New -> Shortcut
-----------------------
New -> text document
New -> Media -> file
New -> Media -> another
New -> Programing -> whatever

Sep 1, 2005when I transfer my digital images from my camera to my PC (XP Serv.. pack 2) I use the built in transfer program which appears to be titled Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard. It worked well for awhile.Is there a program setup key where I can check settings for the software? I used to be able to simply type in new file name and it would put the new folder in "My Picture folder" not anymore, have to a lot manually.The pgm also seems to reproduce the pics each time I click a photo change it etc, and I end up with up to 10x the number of pics all duplicates!. this is hard to explain to a fairly new user with digital cameras.

Is it safe to use "shutdown" this way or is it better to go through the 2 extra steps: Start, Turn Off Computer, and Shutdown? put in, but the "currently allocated" amount doesn't change at all. Shouldn't
the currently allocated amount change to the minimum I designate in the
custom allocation box?Right now, the only way to get my graphics program to work faster is by overloading my memory so that Windows will automatically increase the virtual memory.Why don't my custom settings change anything?
My Album Folders Been Tagged To Have A Custom Folder Picture
Apr 26, 2008I'm using Windows XP and I've been having problems with some MP3 files in regards to album artwork and tagging. I've discovered that it's my album folders that have been tagged (most likely by me) to have a custom Folder Picture.I want to remove all the Folder Pictures from my music album folders. I fear I will have to do one by one (which is a LOT!) unless I can find a reverse procedure in the program I suspect caused this to happen. That program is Tag&Rename, and I suspect I accidentally added custom pictures to these folders when I was adding album art to the individual music files
