Driver - Built In Wireless Doesn't Work

Apr 2, 2008

I just got rid of Windows Vista and replaced it with Windows XP pro service pack 2. Everything works perfectly, except I don't have any of the drivers. I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

Missing Network Connections For Both Wireless & Cable?

Jun 3, 2008

I recently installed verizon VZ Access Manager to use my blackberry as a tethered modem. Since then, I have noticed that neither my wireless nor my wired LAN connections appear in Network Connections. My connections work fine. I am using a wired LAN connection to send this. However, the connection does not appear in Windows Network Connections. According to what I've read, the connection should be automatically entered there.

Some Of Options Are Missing In Wireless Network Connections

Apr 30, 2008

My laptop used to connect automatically to the Internet via wireless. Now, I have to hit Repair (I use Windows XP Home). The default (and only Wireless option I have) doesn't appear at first, under available wireless connections, and sometimes Repair doesn't work. I have a feeling that some of the options are missing, in the Wireless Network Connections Properties/General area. My computer shows File and Printer Sharing for MS Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

I have found in Group Policy that there is a policy called Turn off Microsoft Peer-to-Peer Networking Services and is located under Computer Configuration Administrative TemplatesNetworkMicrosoft Peer-to-Peer. I have enabled this policy and applied to a test Windows XP SP2 machine. I have found that on this test machine I can still create a new ad hoc wireless network. how I can prevent users from creating ad hoc networks? Or why this policy is not working the way that i thought it would?

I was told to call HP,and I did but did not get much help. What should I do to get my wireless printer work? I have a PC and a laptop. Prior to Verizon, I have a DSL and Vonage, both routers and print server did not have the same problem.

Built New Dual Core But Its Slower Than Old P-4

Aug 28, 2009

Intel DQ963FX motherboard and mated it with a Intel E2200 Dual core processor. I have 3 gig memory and a NVidia 9400 GT graphics card w/1 gig memory. The machine is not used for gaming but for everyday on line tasks. The on board graphics are disabled. I updated the Bios to the latest version and am running XP Pro SP3. I have the usual antivirus protection enabled, Purchased Zone internet suite, Nortons (kept disabled in case zone craps out)and malware bytes, Super anti malware, Spybot S&D and ad aware.Sometimes when I start this machine and go to Firefox,(or IE for that matter) the system will slow to the point that even audio is stunted. I have the latest java enabled so I don't think that is the problem. This motherboard has very little in the bios to tweak so that hasn't been tampered with too much (latest bios update was installed after the slow started). Whenever the slow down occurs if I restart the machine it will run up to speed for awhile then eventually slow down again. My old P-4 3.02 was sooo much faster that I regret ever having built this new clunker. . Is there a known problem with this mb or proc that I haven't found yet?

Hard Drive Crapped Out Its Built Into The Motherboard

Aug 9, 2008

Recently my hard drive crapped out on me so I had to take my external hd and use the as my internal hd.... everything worked as far as installing windows xp etc. I have a cable modem with a wireless router (which works because I'm on the laptop now), so I figured I'd hop on the internet and download some drivers etc... Well here lies the problem, computer isn't picking up the internet and when I used my ISP's cd, the cd told me that i didn't have a network adapter... I do have a network adapter; it's built into the motherboard. I downloaded a driver from intel and burned the *.exe onto a cd and ran it in hopes that it would work.

Print To Wireless Printer From Wireless Laptop?

Mar 1, 2009

We have two laptops and one wireless (HP Photosmart C7280) printer. Our laptops both connect to the internet wirelessly through a router. I was able to install and can print wirelessly from my laptop (a Mac) with no problems. However, we cannot figure out how to print wirelessly from my boyfriend's laptop (a Dell). We have installed the printer software and the printer itself on his laptop, and the laptop is able to identify the wireless printer over the network. We made sure that the printer is set to "online" and that file/printer sharing is turned on. But, whenever we go to print any kind of a file, we get an error message simply stating that the printer was unable to print and that we should run the troubleshooter. So, we run the troubleshooter, and we get this message:"The troubleshooter was not able to ping (detect a connection with) your print server. This might be the cause of the problem. Verify that your network is configured correctly and that you are connected to the network."

I am more used to working with Macs and my boyfriend is computer illiterate, so we're a bit lost as to what this means. I was able to set up a wireless network connection on his laptop, but beyond that I'm not sure what else to do. Most of the other advice I've seen online involves a wireless printer that is wired to one computer, and another laptop trying to wirelessly access that printer through the connected computer...if that makes any sense. Our printer isn't wired to anything, and we just can't figure out why it'll print wirelessly on the Mac but not on the Dell laptop. Any ideas?

Wireless Connectivity - More Than One Wireless Device Found

Mar 12, 2010

If i log onto my computer and just go into network connections, the computer is not able to look for wireless networks. if i hit the button to find networks, it gives me some strange error message. i have noticed though that i can fix the problem if i manually go into services and start the wireless zero configuration service myself. i configured this service to start automatically, and to keep restarting if attempts to start fail, but for whatever reason, the service does not start on its own when i boot the computer. once i start the service, i am able to connect without any problems.

The error message i get says something about finding more than one wirless device. i have a belkin usb wireless card, and before i installed the one i have now, i had another that coincidentally was the same size and also made by belkin. thinking that maybe some software was still on the computer, causing it to find both, and consequently not being able to connect to either, i uninstalled all the software for both routers and deleted all the related program files off of the computer. then i reinstalled and...got the same exact problem.
