I have a big issue here with the usb port built into the motherboard, winxp won't detect it.i have the drivers, i install it nothing.. there is no use of it if winxp doesn;t detect the usb port.i'v formatted 3 times.contacted the company i baught the computer for, they want 20$ every 15minutes to resolve this issue.
View 6 RepliesRecently my hard drive crapped out on me so I had to take my external hd and use the as my internal hd.... everything worked as far as installing windows xp etc. I have a cable modem with a wireless router (which works because I'm on the laptop now), so I figured I'd hop on the internet and download some drivers etc... Well here lies the problem, computer isn't picking up the internet and when I used my ISP's cd, the cd told me that i didn't have a network adapter... I do have a network adapter; it's built into the motherboard. I downloaded a driver from intel and burned the *.exe onto a cd and ran it in hopes that it would work.

First i thought, its may be of my disfigured mouse port on motherboard, however i changed my mouse to USB mouse. But still i'm facing the problem. All of sudden, OS hangs, no cursor movements or mouse movements. Even manual restart is freezed, only the power off is the solution. Can "U" trace the problem?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I try installing Windows XP Pro on the hard drive I can't seem to get the hard drive detected. I actually get to see it in windows XP and as well as in the BIOS, but when it gets to the installaton, It just won't see it. So my mother board is an Asus K8V SE Deluxe and my hard drive is a Western Digital Serial ATA drive 10000 RPM model number: WD360.
I tried the windows xp pro titanium 1.0 with service pack 2. Still couldn't detect it. I also tried many drivers from the internet, all of them were boot disks. That din't work either. I actually never checked the jumpers, I know there is no slave/master... on the drive but where is it suposed to be placed by default? Also I have 2 other IDE hard drives, but formatted in NTFS and my Raptor one is in Fat32, does it have anything to do with it? One also has Windows XP on it.
I have a laptop that is showing the Ethernet port as a 1394 port. How do I get it to recognize the Ethernet port correctly ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer a couple years back. It came preinstalled with Windows ME. Once XP came out, I bought the upgrade. When XP Pro came out, I bought that upgrade. Now, I am trying to use Server 2003 just to see how my comp will do. See, I want my speakers and microphone to work. The only problem is that they are built into the moniter. Everything worked with the speakers and microphone on all my previouse OSs. But now, on Server 2003, nothing will work.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwell i bought a wireless router for my daughters laptop to take to school. her computer has a built in wireless network in it. i cant seem to get the wireless to work. i have went to connet to and selected the wireless...but i get no where. i tried going to the connections and disabling all the connections but the wireless but still nothing. i have right clicked on the wireless connection and hit repair but when it tries to repair it tried to connect and it times out.she is home for the night and i'm trying to get her set up before she goes back....any suggestions?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIntel DQ963FX motherboard and mated it with a Intel E2200 Dual core processor. I have 3 gig memory and a NVidia 9400 GT graphics card w/1 gig memory. The machine is not used for gaming but for everyday on line tasks. The on board graphics are disabled. I updated the Bios to the latest version and am running XP Pro SP3. I have the usual antivirus protection enabled, Purchased Zone internet suite, Nortons (kept disabled in case zone craps out)and malware bytes, Super anti malware, Spybot S&D and ad aware.Sometimes when I start this machine and go to Firefox,(or IE for that matter) the system will slow to the point that even audio is stunted. I have the latest java enabled so I don't think that is the problem. This motherboard has very little in the bios to tweak so that hasn't been tampered with too much (latest bios update was installed after the slow started). Whenever the slow down occurs if I restart the machine it will run up to speed for awhile then eventually slow down again. My old P-4 3.02 was sooo much faster that I regret ever having built this new clunker. . Is there a known problem with this mb or proc that I haven't found yet?

Every now and then the F & T drives will switch drive letters when this happens I cannot get into the F drive. Is there some way I can get into a built in program and change drive letters??

I have a locally-built system here with COA and product key. I am guessing it was originally loaded with an OEM copy of Windows XP Home; but, I don't know for sure. I don't have the CD. I used to see OEM CDs with no product key for only $10; but, I haven't seen one lately.

I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I transfer my digital images from my camera to my PC (XP Serv.. pack 2) I use the built in transfer program which appears to be titled Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard. It worked well for awhile.Is there a program setup key where I can check settings for the software? I used to be able to simply type in new file name and it would put the new folder in "My Picture folder" not anymore, have to a lot manually.The pgm also seems to reproduce the pics each time I click a photo change it etc, and I end up with up to 10x the number of pics all duplicates!. this is hard to explain to a fairly new user with digital cameras.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis time i was recconecting my storage HD, and boom a BSOD (oh i love these by now.) the error messave was "kernal_data_inpage_error", i boot my pc up again thinking it just had to do with the HD hooking up, went into battlefield 2 Pirates mod (its sooo fun) and boom another one... so i disconnected the storage HD and tried again. it continued, this time i didnt even get past BIOS, my Main HD wont even show up in Bios or boot. i tried to search for HD and redid connections nothing. this has happened before after a few hours it let me boot but now im tired of it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect a USB flash drive I want a window to appear giving me the option to run (if there is an auto.inf file), play music (if music files), open in a Windows Explorer window, etc.This is exactly what occurs on my two Windows XP Pro machines. Nothing happens on my XP Home; I have to get to the drive through "My Computer."Is this an XP Home limitation? Or can you think of some setting I've missed? All 3 PCs have SP2 and all Microsoft critical updates. I have no reason to suspect malware on the XP Home machine, and it has nothing detected by AVG (free), Windows Defender, Ad-Aware or Spybot.The registry key NoDriveTypeAutoRun is Hex 91 on all machines. The Properties on the USB drives are the same.

On a hunch, I decided to pop in a DVD-R disc, and this was detected just fine. I also put in a DVD-RW disc, but it was not detected. Seeing as how I have data I want to append to an old DVD-RW disc, is there anything left to do?

View 12 Replies View RelatedIn device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Primary Controller for Device 0 under advanced settings the transfer mode is set to: DMA if avaliable, the Current Mode is: PIO Mode.The hard drive is a 80G western Digital i think the WD800JD which is on its own ide cable connected to the primary connector on the motherboard. I am using windows XP Professional and the PCCHIPS MB. Also, when i start up my computer and it detects the devices for the hard drive it says its in Ultra DMA Mode 4 or 5, but in windows it isnt.

I went to another burner and the same thing occured except this time I got a message saying the following: "There are no compatible CD drives reported."I then exited and popped in a disk for a game.. I hear the drive accept the disk and it sounds like it is about to load but nothing happens. Its like the cd drive is non functional. My question is what might have happened and can I fix this/ how?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThe computer I am working with is a Dell P4 desktop with 512 MB RAM, and Windows XP Home with SP2 that was purchased new in August 2005.The problem is that every time I plug a device into the system (MP4 player, USB printer, flash drive) it is not detected. If I look in Device Manager it shows up as an unknown device. If I then try to manually install the driver, it will install properly.I then decided to remove all USB Host Controllers, USB Root Hubs etc. After doing this and rebooting, all of these devices were unknown devices as well. Simply telling Windows to update the driver added the devices properly. Can anyone tell me if you have seen this before and if so, what the solution is?
