View 1 RepliesI just had to replace the mother board on my computer Its a Asus P4PE motherboard After replacing the motherboard, I just hooked up the hard drive I was using and the computer did come back up. The new motherboard is another P4PE warranty replacement board from Asus.
The computer is working but I can't get sound or USB services The computer doesn't even seem to know that sound hardware exists on this new motherboard for some reason... The USB, I have no idea why its not working other then the fact I can't get my USB printer or camera to work... Do I have to "Reload" XP? I don't want to loose what's on my hard drive... What should I do to get this right??? In all the years I've had computers I've never had a motherboard die before so I'm not sure how to proceed!!!
I have a big issue here with the usb port built into the motherboard, winxp won't detect it.i have the drivers, i install it nothing.. there is no use of it if winxp doesn;t detect the usb port.i'v formatted 3 times.contacted the company i baught the computer for, they want 20$ every 15minutes to resolve this issue.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently my hard drive crapped out on me so I had to take my external hd and use the as my internal hd.... everything worked as far as installing windows xp etc. I have a cable modem with a wireless router (which works because I'm on the laptop now), so I figured I'd hop on the internet and download some drivers etc... Well here lies the problem, computer isn't picking up the internet and when I used my ISP's cd, the cd told me that i didn't have a network adapter... I do have a network adapter; it's built into the motherboard. I downloaded a driver from intel and burned the *.exe onto a cd and ran it in hopes that it would work.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using this for the first time to restore to a different computer. During the restore I'm getting a message to put the chipset driver on removable media.I've downloaded the driver and ran the exe to extract the files. There are a bunch of files and some of them are in folders. I get the impression that the restore program may only be looking in the root directory of the flash drive so I'm wondering if I need to take all the files from the folders and put them in the root directory of the flash drive. I don't want to put more than necessary in their because I have a lot of files already on there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got rid of Windows Vista and replaced it with Windows XP pro service pack 2. Everything works perfectly, except I don't have any of the drivers. I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy friend has recently bought a package PC, and the included motherboard drivers are... well, rubbish. I'm trying to find the right drivers for it, but the SiS website is useless, nevermind the Foxconn website. The motherboard is:Foxconn 655A01-FX-6LRS, Chipset (AFAIK): 655FX 964. I'm only used to nForce drivers (a single download), and this is just painful by comparison!I've already made 2 failed attempts to install the drivers, with no success. Which drivers do I need? At the minimum just the sound would be ok - he doesn't need the onboard graphics.

I have WinXP Pro sp2.My motherboard is an Asus A7A266 with Alimagik1 chipset (North bridge Ali M1647, South bridge Ali M1535D+) with the latest BIOS (1013 beta).I also have a Samsung 40Gb hard disk that works perfectly in UDMA5.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling IDE channels from device manager, but I still have PIO4.I checked BIOS, setting either "Auto" or "Manual" in HD configuration (manual udma6, udma5 etc...). No way.I downloaded Ali/Uli integrated drivers v2.096, then I enabled mini-IDE driver (v1.5.10) modifying the "install.ini" file and installed it. No success, hd still uses PIO.Now in device manager under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers I have "Ali M5229 PCI Bus Master IDE Controller".I tried forcing UDMA changing "MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed".
View 19 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to install Win XP SP2 there was always a message telling me that it coudn't detect the HDD (Checked Bios, it is detecting everything: Processor, Ram, DVD units and HDD) Well, after several times trying, i decided to put the HDD on my nephew's computer and install Win XP w/o the drivers. Back to my system, connected the HDD and turn it on, but when the XP logo appears, the system reboots, and it happened every time i tried it.
Having a copy of Vista (30 days sample) i decided to install it, and it was installed w/o problems, everything was perfect. So (at last) my cuestion is ...Can i install Win XP on this system? or,there is a feature on P35 that only accept Vista?, orthere is something that i forgot to do? I want XP and not Vista (I will need to buy Vista and I dont have $$$, yet)
I have custom built many computer systems over the years, but I feel like a new comer when trying to decide what board and chip set to use on a socket 939 system. I have used ASUS extensively and will use ASUS on this system. With all of the various chipsets and motherboards available from ASUS for the socket 939 I have reached to a point of total frustration. The more I research the duller my mind becomes and am asking for some help or suggestions. The computer will be used for research, a lot of it on the web, for graphics work and for preparation of presentations. I am not a gamer, am not interested in gaming, and do not have any games on my PC.
I know that the chipset will basically determine which motherboard to use. I am considering the VIA K8T800 PRO chipset, as the ATI and NVIDA chipsets seem to be more for gamers. Again my mind is awash from researching the various chipsets available for the socket 939 from the different chipset manufacturers, ATI, NVIDA, and VIA. I would like some input on which chipset would be best for general computing? Also, I was thinking about an AGP video card, but after research I feel like AGP is becoming a dinosaur. On the other hand it seems like the only advantage of PCI Express is for gamers especially in a dual configuration. Is there any real advantage of PCI Express over AGP for general computing? Would it be advantageous to go PCI Express over AGP?
I recently purchased a new MOBO for my first build a few weeks ago (ASUS msn32 SLI Deluxe), and it has a few nice little utilities that make the experience of building a PC a fun one - that is, until you try to use them! lol~AI Gear is a utility that (with the interface of a gear shift) allows you to up the power of your processor, or to go into a power saving mode, if you will.
AI Booster is a very cool little OC'ing utility that makes it easier for newbie people like myself to OC within a controlled environment without the fear of screwing something up in the BIOS.Now AI Gear and AI Booster can't run at the same time. So if AI Booster is set up to launch on start up, there's a pop up that will prompt you to disable AI Gear so the booster can be used.
with my PC (described below) that was built about 1 year ago. Recently I loaded some video-editing software (Adobe Premiere Elements v4) to do some video work. I also loaded Pinnacle Studio 9 along with a patch, because it offers some nice features when capturing raw video. Shortly after, I began having a boot problem. The ASUS screen would come up as usual, but it would hang for maybe 30 to 50 seconds, and then a blank black screen would come up with the cursor blinking at the upper-left corner. Normally the ASUS screen is on for only 10 seconds or so, followed by the black screen for a few seconds, and finally the XP start-up screen.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIntel DQ963FX motherboard and mated it with a Intel E2200 Dual core processor. I have 3 gig memory and a NVidia 9400 GT graphics card w/1 gig memory. The machine is not used for gaming but for everyday on line tasks. The on board graphics are disabled. I updated the Bios to the latest version and am running XP Pro SP3. I have the usual antivirus protection enabled, Purchased Zone internet suite, Nortons (kept disabled in case zone craps out)and malware bytes, Super anti malware, Spybot S&D and ad aware.Sometimes when I start this machine and go to Firefox,(or IE for that matter) the system will slow to the point that even audio is stunted. I have the latest java enabled so I don't think that is the problem. This motherboard has very little in the bios to tweak so that hasn't been tampered with too much (latest bios update was installed after the slow started). Whenever the slow down occurs if I restart the machine it will run up to speed for awhile then eventually slow down again. My old P-4 3.02 was sooo much faster that I regret ever having built this new clunker. . Is there a known problem with this mb or proc that I haven't found yet?
View 8 Replies View RelatedHey I'm running an ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe mobo w/ Windows XP Pro. When I turn on my computer it sort of hangs up on the first screen where it shows the ASUS manufacturers logo or whatever. I believe this is where it is running POST tests in the background, I've hit DELETE before to see whats happening during this and its auto detecting Primary Drives and stuff like that. Well within 20-30 seconds of that the screen goes blank and theres a one little blinking cursor for about 3 seconds then the cursor jumps down a line and blinks twice and finally the Windows XP loading screen comes up.
