A friend of mine has a Dim.4500.He has used it for 4 or 5 years with no problems,except he says for the past 7 or 8 months its slightly slower downloading, surfing,ect...He is going to wipe it clean and he is wondering if he has to install chipset drivers before the driver for getting on the internet?
View 5 RepliesI'm using this for the first time to restore to a different computer. During the restore I'm getting a message to put the chipset driver on removable media.I've downloaded the driver and ran the exe to extract the files. There are a bunch of files and some of them are in folders. I get the impression that the restore program may only be looking in the root directory of the flash drive so I'm wondering if I need to take all the files from the folders and put them in the root directory of the flash drive. I don't want to put more than necessary in their because I have a lot of files already on there.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy granddads computer was infected up the kaboose with trojans, viruses and stuff from not having SP 1 or 2 on it.I've put on Avast Anti-Virus, Zone Alarm, Ad-Aware, Hijack This, SP2, ran all the updates and everything else I could think of to clean down the system and it seemed to do the trick.Then I noticed the GFX card (Nvidia 5700) and Sound card (Soundblaster Live) werent installed correctly so I downloaded the latest drivers for each.When I install the GFX drivers the card works but when I restart the machine its like the drivers were never installed. I go into computer management the device list says "This device cannot start".

View 14 Replies View RelatedI succesfully update my BIOS "flash it" but lately , my sound its making some funny stuff ( like... poping sounds) and the "cliki sounds" of Windows when you open a folder, change page, etc. sometimes it sounds like a interference of a radio (bruugggtttt ) short my sound example ok , well , then it fix by itself , but then later comes again . my windows media player sounds ok, for now , havent notice slow in music yet , but musicmatch somtimes sounds funny , just the start opening music (intro) but songs OK.by the way I update my nero , so I uninstall and install the new version , I didn,t configure Nero to open wav files or sound files .should I need to update my sound driver for the chipset of SoundMax ?

I have a Gateway 7422GX which as a Mobility Radeon 9550. I repaired windows using the cd because I restarted my computer and it was either going to take 7min+ to boot, or just wasn't going to. I got stuck at the windows splash screen. I'm using windows professional. Whenever I try to install any of the drivers, I get the same error message: Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit.

The graphic driver is the other driver that wont install properly. when i run the installation i get a message that reads

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in a bit of a pickle, I was installing some beta drivers from nvidia on my gaming desktop just for fun, but when I restarted the computer can't run for more then 3 minutes until it crashes, so I need to go back and reverse the drivers i installed or get rid of them. The dilemma here is that I'm not exactly sure what I need to do, nor can I BOOT INTO SAFE MODE, which has been an issue for me for about a year now. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. I have a Giga-byte K8NXP-SLI motherboard (yeah I know, I realize my mistake now...), and this board has an Nforce 4 SLI chipset. I do use the SATA-II/SATA-3G connection on the board, I run two 300GB Maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA drives. I have installed the Nforce 4 SATA-Floppy F6 drivers on the XP install and now have not nearly as many issues as before with this chipset

I have WinXP Pro sp2.My motherboard is an Asus A7A266 with Alimagik1 chipset (North bridge Ali M1647, South bridge Ali M1535D+) with the latest BIOS (1013 beta).I also have a Samsung 40Gb hard disk that works perfectly in UDMA5.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling IDE channels from device manager,but I still have PIO4.I checked BIOS, setting either "Auto" or "Manual" in HD configuration (manual udma6, udma5 etc...). No way.I downloaded Ali/Uli integrated drivers v2.096, then I enabled mini-IDE driver (v1.5.10) modifying the "install.ini" file and installed it. No success, hd still uses PIO.Now in device manager under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers I have "Ali M5229 PCI Bus Master IDE Controller".I tried forcing UDMA changing "MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed".
View 19 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to install Win XP SP2 there was always a message telling me that it coudn't detect the HDD (Checked Bios, it is detecting everything: Processor, Ram, DVD units and HDD) Well, after several times trying, i decided to put the HDD on my nephew's computer and install Win XP w/o the drivers. Back to my system, connected the HDD and turn it on, but when the XP logo appears, the system reboots, and it happened every time i tried it.
Having a copy of Vista (30 days sample) i decided to install it, and it was installed w/o problems, everything was perfect.So (at last) my cuestion is ...Can i install Win XP on this system? or,there is a feature on P35 that only accept Vista?, orthere is something that i forgot to do? I want XP and not Vista (I will need to buy Vista and I dont have $$$, yet)
running Windows XP Pro with SP2...ran a cleaner to clear out all old traces of deleted programs, it also deleted all of the drivers needed to run the XP Pro and we can not even get onto the internet, where can we get the drivers needed without re-installing the windows XP Pro, and is there a place to get them for free.(the drivers)

He had the disc, he just didn't know how to install it.So I installed it, but it didn't seem to come with any internet drivers at all. He tried plugging an Ethernet cable from his cable modem into the computer, but he couldn't get online. He can't even use the wireless internet card installed in the computer. I tried all the "install optional components" that were on the disc, but it seems there were no internet drivers at all on the disc.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've just reinstalled windows xp media center edition on my mams toshiba satalite a50 laptop but i cant get onto the internet using ethernet because i can't find the drivers well i goto install my bt home hub and it says i can only connect to the internet by using the usb wire and doesnt give me a option to use the internet throught the ethernet wire. so i install the usb drivers for the homehub and connect to the hub using usb then i went onto the toshiba website and downloaded the drivers so i could try and get my ethernet connection working but nothing seems to get it working plus my wireless connection doesnt work ther isnt anything on my computer that gives me a option to connect to the wireless network.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently went through a "Blond Moment". I decided I was going to update my SIS IDE Driver on my computer. I downloaded the newest drivers from my motherboard manufacturer, saved them to file in the C: drive Now, here is the blond moment:
I uninstalled the old sis IDE driver (rather than changing it to standard IDE driver) and it prompted me to reboot on completion.(Blond again) I clicked yes, I meant to install the new driver before doing this, but I didn't read it right so the computer rebooted.Now on boot up I get a BSOD. It basically asks me to check my hard drive (which I know is good, its new) or reinstall the IDE drivers (which I don't know how to do outside windows) or run a virus scan (done) to be sure that isn't causing the error.I went into recovery console with hopes to restore the SIS or standard IDE Driver, but Im lost, and don't know how to do that exactly. Is there anyone who knows how to install these drivers (remember I cant boot to windows safe or otherwise)OR Should I just do a repair install and will that even fix this dumb thing Ive done?

I am going to school tomororw and needed this off my computer. So I decided to wipe the hard drive clean with the Dell CDs that came with this purchase. I downloaded Windows XP and some of the drivers. Some of the drivers that i tried to download say they downloaded but then do not come up. Broadcom440x10/100 is saying the network cable is unplugged, I have no idea what that means and internet will not work. What can I do manually to make this work?

When I try to install it through the device manager, there's only an option to update the driver so when I try to install the old one it says it can't find a better match than the one I've got already (generic cardbus controller).I've tried uninstalling the current driver but I can't find a way to manually install the old one.
