With No Internet - Drivers At All On The Disc

My friend had me install Windows XP Professional SP2 in a computer he custom built. He had the disc, he just didn't know how to install it.So I installed it, but it didn't seem to come with any internet drivers at all. He tried plugging an Ethernet cable from his cable modem into the computer, but he couldn't get online. He can't even use the wireless internet card installed in the computer. I tried all the "install optional components" that were on the disc, but it seems there were no internet drivers at all on the disc.

I have a E Machine PC, model W2888. I formated the hard drive, but I do not have the recovery disc with the drivers on it. I was looking for the driver for the ethernet card. The card they show on the front of the case says "Intel Pro 10/100 LAN" so I was looking for drivers for that but no luck. So I called Emachines and they told me to download a chipset for "Intel 845GV" I tried looking for that, but I don't know what I'm looking for. Does anyone know where I can find a driver for the ethernet card so I can download it on this PC I'm using, burn it to a disc install it into my E Machine PC so I can get online and do a windows update and install all of the other dirvers?

The recovery disk that came with my machine is now well out of date and I want to make my own, with all the latest drivers etc. I am running XP SP2 but XP came as an OEM inbuilt provision. The manufacturer (Tiny Computers) will not release a copy of the XP disk to me unless I pay the full XP price!

Hi, yes, I did something really stupid! I was having major issues with laptop and as a last resort decided to reinstall Windows [should have been Vista]. However, I have two Dell Inspiron laptops and apparently used the wrong disc! I installed Windows XP. Now I have no internet as the Ethernet driver, and a few others, are showing errors. I looked in Device Manager etc and about 8 or 9 drivers were not installed. Oh, and the correct Windows disc is in US with my computer wiz son, and I'm over in UK! So . . . . is there anyway to install the missing drivers? Or even get Dell or Microsoft to help me get the correct version of Windows to reinstall?
I have internet access on my mini Dell, and also on my desktop - which does have CD writer etc if I needed to download files. Or can that be done on memory stick?

i have a p5s800-vm mother board of asus and the setup of windows xp (pro-sp2) dont find my hard disc and i need to make a floopy from the drivers on the disc to help it found the hard disc. that what i do to make that floopy (as some nice guys here tell me to) i go to the drivers folder on the disc of the motherbord than chose "raid" folder in it i chose the floopyimage folder there i have 3 folders
1.964plus180(181)
2.964_180
3.965_965L
the guys here tell me to put the files of the 965_965L on the floopy without the foler imself. so in the 965_965L folder i have two files "SISRAID and "TXTSETUP.OEM" and aonter folder calld "raid" and in it i have to folders "winxp" and "win2000" and each folder has its own file. so what i do was to put only the "TXTSETUP.OEM" file on the floopy without noting else cause someone here tell me it all i need to do......

running Windows XP Pro with SP2...ran a cleaner to clear out all old traces of deleted programs, it also deleted all of the drivers needed to run the XP Pro and we can not even get onto the internet, where can we get the drivers needed without re-installing the windows XP Pro, and is there a place to get them for free.(the drivers)

My OS is Windows XP, and I just did a clean-install for my entire computer from my Windows XP disc. All my drivers are already installed, except for all the ones listed under 'Other Devices'. I particularly need the USB driver listed under Other Devices, because my internet connection is through USB.

I've just reinstalled windows xp media center edition on my mams toshiba satalite a50 laptop but i cant get onto the internet using ethernet because i can't find the drivers well i goto install my bt home hub and it says i can only connect to the internet by using the usb wire and doesnt give me a option to use the internet throught the ethernet wire. so i install the usb drivers for the homehub and connect to the hub using usb then i went onto the toshiba website and downloaded the drivers so i could try and get my ethernet connection working but nothing seems to get it working plus my wireless connection doesnt work ther isnt anything on my computer that gives me a option to connect to the wireless network.

My Network adaptor screen identifies a problem (yellow exclamation mark) saying NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller - McAfee Core NDIS Intermediate Filter Miniport and WAN Miniport (IP) - McAfee Core NDIS Intermediate Filter Miniport ive lost internet connection and hence can surf the net or email. A few weeks ago, I received a blue screen of death that would not get off my computer. I had the Windows Antivirus Pro Virus that would not go away. I am going to school tomororw and needed this off my computer. So I decided to wipe the hard drive clean with the Dell CDs that came with this purchase. I downloaded Windows XP and some of the drivers. Some of the drivers that i tried to download say they downloaded but then do not come up. Broadcom440x10/100 is saying the network cable is unplugged, I have no idea what that means and internet will not work. What can I do manually to make this work?

A friend of mine has a Dim.4500.He has used it for 4 or 5 years with no problems,except he says for the past 7 or 8 months its slightly slower downloading, surfing,ect...He is going to wipe it clean and he is wondering if he has to install chipset drivers before the driver for getting on the internet?

Reformatted sons computer and re installed Windows xp. Cannot connect to internet because there are no ethernet controllers, or video, and audio. This I expected and thought all I had to do was download drivers for the MS-7050. I have been at it 6 hrs now and cannot find them! I know I found before but cannot quite remember what I found. Am I looking for the wrong thing to get the controllers etc working? Its a HP dx5150, AMD 64 Athlon. Motherboard is MS-7050 Ver 1.3

I'm running XP Home on a Sony VAIO. The PC has a partitioned HD: C (main), & D (storage). I defrag every night.
This evening, I got the dreaded "not enough disc space to complete disc defragmenter" message. Suddenly tonight I'm showing only 2% free space on drive C. I went in and changed my System Restore percentage from 12% to 6%. Now I'm showing 6% free space (but still can't defrag).
I shouldn't have had to change my System Restore percentage tho. I'm sure that's not the culprit. Up until last night the C drive was nowhere near this full. Something's there tonight that wasn't yesterday. ...A whole LOT of something. The Defrag graph is showing a nearly FULL C drive with a LOT of red "fragmented" files"
I've been doing a bit of downloading, but after it's on the desktop (part of C), I move it to the D storage drive (which has a LOT of free space remaining).
Something's fishy. I'm no expert, but I'm thinking I need to find some type of application to tell me what's suddenly on that drive taking up all this space. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

neither wmp 11 or roxio recognizes a blank disc. when i try to burn a disc (dvd or cd) both wmp 11 and roxio tells me to insert a blank disc. i have tried putting a disc in first, or wait for the program to tell me to insert disc but neither way works!:

My packard bell notebook model (easynote) E-3242 running windows XP. After installing SP2, XP wont load, even in safe mode. I already used cd-bootable Knoppix to copy all documents i needed to rescue. At this point a complete Re-install would be great, but alas, no install disk came with this notebook, And i lost the recovery discs i made. I do NOT have any XP disc available.How can I begin a re-install or similiar from the Hardisk with no Discs?

I get a little confused by terms like restore vs recovery, which are often interchanged incorrectly IMO -and then there are the terms bootable disc and startup disc, which can also get confusing - and I have seen other terms used also.
please explain exactly what you mean by the "bootable XP CD". I have a new XPsp2 home edition pc, and I had a millennium before that (which I made a "startup disc" for in add/remove programs - so I guess a startup disc is yet another term for boot disc - it was only a 3-1/2" diskette (less than a meg), and it would get my millennium to boot by typing "scanreg /restore" at a prompt that you eventually came to.
For my XP, I immediately made a Compaq "recovery dvd" (it took 2-dvd's) utilizing the "Compaq recovery cd-dvd creator" in start/programs/pc tools. This dvd (can also use cd's but it takes 8 or 9 cd's I believe) contains everything that is on the pc (from the factory), and which is also in the system recovery partition D:. There is also something called a "Recovery Tools CD", which I did not burn, since it did not seem necessary, after
reading about it in the "troubleshooting and system recovery guide" that came with my Compaq. I will burn that one to, if you can explain what it will do, that I can't ultimately achieve by using the "recovery dvd". The manual said that one of the things the "recovery tools cd" did was to remove the system recovery partition (drive D), so you could use it - but I'm sure there is another way of doing that from within the pc once you got it running using the recovery dvd - am I right - I've never messed around with partitioning, since I have no need to.
My new XP did not come with any "bootable CD" per se, and I made the "recovery dvd", as stated above. So please shed some light on what the "bootable XP CD" is that you refer to (because you said that a "restore Cd is really overkill" - I assume you mean the "recovery CD" that I mentioned). Also please provide your comments on the "recovery tools CD", and any other comments you have on the various terminologies I have mentioned above.

I purchased a SIIG PCI firmware adapter. It has no drivers and says that it will use Win XP drivers. Well I installed the board and booted the pc, Win XP
recognized the hardware but could not find any drivers. I tried unplugging it manually, installing it in another card slot with no luck. I took it back to
my pc dealer and he plugged it in his system and had no problems. I decide to try another brand, an IO Gear GIC1394.

A friends HP Media Center PC m7077c crashed. Had no recover disk, etc. Installed XP Pro SP2 and I need drivers (according to Device Manager). No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.

Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) I just recieved an IBM laptop while downloading some software, it was suggested by the site that I should download all the updated drivers. I am very wary of this advice because I don't want to fix something that doesn't seem to be broken, but at the same time, I would like to be up-to-date. I am running XP Pro, how I should proceed? I have tried to install a new xp pro sp3 disc on a new computer but have been getting errors in the installation. I have tried 3 different times but it says that the disc is missing some components and when it is final it does not work properly.
I finally talked to a tech person that asked me if I had another disc and I have an older sp2 disc. He said to install that but when I put in the key for my new disc it does not work with my older disc. I finally put in my old key and it worked fine. THe installation went off without a hitch but I won't be able to use my old key when I activate it. When I install the sp3 download will I be able to change my key to the new disc key?
