Add Custom Items To Right Click Context Menu

It is possible to add some menu items to the desktop right click menu e.g many softwares allow to add open in notepad to the right click context menu)i want to add items like open cd/dvd rom, close cd/dvd rom or simply to launch applications like firefox.I don't like my desktop full of icons ,so each time i have to go to start menu to open the program i want, it would be very handy if i can add these items to the right click context menu.

When I right click a file within the desktop or just Windows Explorer in general I have a few things in the context menu that I have uninstalled but stay in the menu. I've already cleaned the registry with RegCleaner and RegSeeker but the items still remain in my context menu. How do I get rid of these things?

I want to remove about 8 items from the right click context menu either in Explorer or while on the Desktop. I read an article that said all you had to do was edit the Registry by doing a search for ShellNew and remove the entire key if you didn't want any of them. I did this several times and did find all of them at least 5 times. But they are still there.

I got a little problem of trying to rename a newly created file as hit the delete button always as the rename and delete menu items are right next to each other. Any easy way to move context menu items as i found a little progy called shellex view from nirsoft a while back that lets me easily add or remove context menu items.

When I right click the desktop, and select "New" there is no longer New Bitmap Image. I was thinking it was setup similar to the "Send TO" option, but I see no folder anywhere. When I google it the best I can find is some TweakUI program, which is not what I want.In the registry I found the hive where it resides, but adding here is only temporary. I would like to be able to right click, and when I select new, have a submenu under the new that I could put my custom files for. I actually have used a program (Tweak UI) that allows me to to remove or add new files, but the problem I find is this.
I to a lot of HTML coding and create new files often. As much as I like conforming to strict, I have to use traditional from time to time, and I wanted to add for both. Well, when I used Tweak UI to add my strict template, and then checked out my "New ->" it was labeled as "New Firefox Document", which from reg searching I show is exactly what HTML is associated to. I wondered if there was a program, or a hack for my registry that would allow me to have a new file under the context menu that would otherwise not alter what .HTML was associated to (meaning, show "New Strict" and "New Traditional" but when you check the properties of index.html would show "Type of File: Firefox Document").
My guess is that to really pull this off, that I would have to make two new extentions (like .ext1 and .ext2) and when I make the new file, simply rename the extension. I know how to do that, but I was hoping that there was another way around it. Also, as noted above, how does one make a submenu under new to group things in? Such as
New -> Folder
New -> Shortcut
-----------------------
New -> text document
New -> Media -> file
New -> Media -> another
New -> Programing -> whatever

Recently whenever i right click on anything or anywhere on my computer, be it the desktop or an avi file etc, the list that should normally open instantly, takes a long time to open - this can vary from only a few seconds to 10+ seconds.Once i have waited for the menu to open however and click off it, the next time i right click on the same point it opens instantly. I presume this is because it has cached the menu or something.Ive had a look around the internet.

When I right click my context menu, on a drive or hard disk in Explorer, a small window opens to "configure Roxio Easy Media Creator". This program was installed a while ago and has been used a number of times.This event happens every time I left click on one of my hard drives or optical discs in MS Explorer. I have to cancel each time.

Since I have installed a few new drivers/Software I have been having trouble with my desktop right click menu, the apps I've installed have added 3 new items on this menu and they take ages to load, even though they are not really that necessary and can be accessed without right clicking. I have taken a screen-shot and wondered if there is any way of removing the 3 marked items from my right click menu.

Have Win2K/IE6...how do I delete unwanted menu items from the Right Click "Save Image As" menu? The number of items causes the menu box to be either top justified or bottom justified, depending on where the cursor is located when the right click button is used. I am therefore having to move the cursor all over the screen to chase the desired "save Image" command. Also, with IE6, several menu items have been added (over IE5)....but, I am NEVER going to "email picture", "print picture", nor "go to my pictures" from this menu box. I could delete 7 of these pesky items, if I knew how, thus making this a much more user friendly menu box.

I was wondering if it is possible to make a specific user (such as Guest) and change it's user permissions. For instance, right now, Guest can do the usual stuff but not access any folders other than its own My Documents. What I want to do is configure it so it is not able to use certain applications, click properties for the desktop, etc

Seems like every time I open some application it puts a link on the start menu, I realize I can delete this by right clicking it and choosing "remove this item from the list". How do I prevent it from being put there in the first place?

I deleted a few items from Start Menu>Programs that I would like to restore. These items are (1) set program access and defaults (2) windows catalog and (3) windows update. I don't know where the .exe files are for me to copy back into the start menu folder or if there is a easier way to restore them.

In Win XP/Home/SP2 (all updates applied), when I right click on an item on my desktop (shortcut, file, folder, etc.), or in Windows Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer), then click on "Properties," nothing happens. No properties are displayed; no error message comes up; nothing.When I try this, I am logged in as an administrator.A search of the forum revealed numerous similar questions which have never been solved. The only one that seems to be solved is regarding the properties of the display (i.e. for wallpaper, screensavers, etc.), and that works properly on my system.

The second open used to give me an error, I fixed that by adding a registry at HKCR*, I had to add the Shell entry there, none previously existed, and then added openas, then command and the default key which I have set to"rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL %1" The second open takes a while to load (5-10 seconds) and then an "Open With" window appears, but it is the wrong one. It lists the "Recommended Programs" and "Other Programs". I would like the one that when you go over "open with" a list of programs pop up w/o going to this other window. I also downloaded ShellExView, and just to see disabled all of the shell menus, and nothing changed, it worked as it did above.

Does anyone know how to add items to the section of the start menu with all the "MY" folders? I want to add my games and toolbox. I don't want them 'pinned to the start menu' because they will open in a window and I want them in a list, like in the advanced start menu controls. Opening Multiple files from Context Menu: Using Windows XP Home SP2, file Explorer, whenever I select multiple files (e.g. .doc, .xls, .jpg, or combinations, etc.), right click, and select the "open" command from the Context menu, for each file, before opening, it displays the "move items" dialog (which I cancel) and then a "copy items" dialog (which I cancel). These extra actions do not occur when I open a single file from the context menu. These extra actions do not occur when I select "preview" or any command other than "open". This problem seems related to "shell.dll", open ommand action settings, registry settings, or shell extension hooks. Usually when I double-click a folder icon, the same window is used to open it, which is exactly the way I want it (I have set the folder options to do this)
But occasionaly, it is desirable to open the folder contents in a new window. For this one has to start again from 'My Computer Is there a registry hack that will add a 'Open in a new window' item to the folder context menu ?

How does one delete duplicate context-menu entries in XP?For example, if I right click on a .gif image file or .jpg image file, TWO "Preview"'s show up in the right context menu - one bolded, the other not. a while ago something went wrong with my computer im not sure if its spyware or just something changed my settings. I use Spybot S&D and Ad-aware and Norton Antivirus and have completed scans for all of them. The context menu (right click) does not work on files in Windows Explorer or on the desktop, but works in Start menu, web browser, etc.Also I cannot access Properties for files. I have tried going through File >> Properties, but the Properties box never appears after I have clicked the link.At the same time of this problem my system restore suddenly disabled itself and will not let me enable it (System restore encountered problems trying to enable/disable system restore on one of your drives. Please restart your machine and try again).I have logged on in a different account and the context menu and properties work, so it only seems to be in my account.

Running xp home sp2. I cannot get it to recognize the program Quick Par for par2 files. When I right click a par2 & select "open with", it defaults to the wrong program, and the correct one (Quick Par) is not listed. When I try using the browse option from this point, it ignores my selection of Quick Par's .exe. When I go to WE/tools/folder options file types, I get the same dialogues with the same result. When I try to delete the par2 association from here, hoping to reset it the file to the right priogram, the delete button is dimmed. If I open Quick par & select the file in question, it performs normally, but I want the much more convenient right click context menu option. How can I associate these files with Quick Par, which the pc seems determined to ignore?
