I custom configure the window environment for each individual user in WinXP?I know how to go to MMC->Group Policy.There are computer config and user config.
All the parameters are in user configuration -> Admin Templates But, how can I set different sets of them and apply these templates to different groups?
I was wondering if it is possible to make a specific user (such as Guest) and change it's user permissions. For instance, right now, Guest can do the usual stuff but not access any folders other than its own My Documents. What I want to do is configure it so it is not able to use certain applications, click properties for the desktop, etc

Once it gets to the user screen for user selection both keyboard and mouse stop working, its either they stop working or the computer freezes, i am not sure. Life still goes to the mouse as it still lights. The keyboad works fine in the bios but not at freezing point.

I need a way to apply the view settings (ie, thumbnail, details, list icons etc) to only folder 1 AND all the sub folders without it affecting Folder 2 and 3. Also, is there a way to apply the type of columns for the folder when using the details view.

I have the folder in the details view, and know how to change which details it shows, but can't for the life of me figure out how to actually change the individual details of each folder. eg add the 'Year' detail column, how do I input the year for each folder? this seems like the most obvious, simple thing but is alluding me at the moment.

and after I selected the photos, I was asked if I wanted to resize them, and
then after I e-mailed them, the photos always appeared in the e-mail once it
was opened (not as an attachment). Now I use Outlook, and when I try to send
the photos from "My Photos" folder, they are sent as attachments, and they
are not viewable in the actual e-mail. I have searched for a setting to
change this, but I can't find any. Does anyone know how I can send multiple
photos in an e-mail using Outlook, so that they can be viewed as soom as the
e-mail is opened, rather than having to download and open each individual
photo as an attachment?
I use acronis as a restore tool and have never had a problem restoring the entire operating system. I had this individual program that was corrupted and I reinstalled it from the image I made using acronis. However, the program failed to appear in the add/remove section of windows. I beleive that I have to manually reinstall the registry entry of the program in order for it to appear in the add/remove section. My question is: is there a registry backup utility that'll let me reinstall individual entries? Something that's a no-brainer also as I'm not completely comfortable fooling around with the registry.

The problem is that only some programs are working on the user accounts but all the programs work under the administer account. So my question is how can I get to work under the user accounts. When they were installed the box was check to let everyone that uses the computer to access the program. The other problem I am having is also with xp home. I run a game server and when people use certain hacks their IP network usage climbs significantly. I use comodo internet security which will tell you IP usage in active network connections but the list isnt sortable and the active connections are lost in a long list of closed connections. I was using netpeeker to view the connected IPs usage but it was incompatible with comdodo and resulted in all large file downloads failing. Is there a utility that can do this without conflicting with comodo? I dont need any bandwidth limiting or anything I am just trying to identify IPs that have usage spikes.

He's been trying to download the Turbo Lister programme for eBay, it looks as though everything downloads OK but when he clicks on the Turbo Lister icon nothing happens. Someone suggested it could be due to the older names in the system.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to right click, and when I select new, have a submenu under the new that I could put my custom files for. I actually have used a program (Tweak UI) that allows me to to remove or add new files, but the problem I find is this.
I to a lot of HTML coding and create new files often. As much as I like conforming to strict, I have to use traditional from time to time, and I wanted to add for both. Well, when I used Tweak UI to add my strict template, and then checked out my "New ->" it was labeled as "New Firefox Document", which from reg searching I show is exactly what HTML is associated to. I wondered if there was a program, or a hack for my registry that would allow me to have a new file under the context menu that would otherwise not alter what .HTML was associated to (meaning, show "New Strict" and "New Traditional" but when you check the properties of index.html would show "Type of File: Firefox Document").
My guess is that to really pull this off, that I would have to make two new extentions (like .ext1 and .ext2) and when I make the new file, simply rename the extension. I know how to do that, but I was hoping that there was another way around it. Also, as noted above, how does one make a submenu under new to group things in? Such as
New -> Folder
New -> Shortcut
-----------------------
New -> text document
New -> Media -> file
New -> Media -> another
New -> Programing -> whatever

I've been trying to get something working with batch files and been running into a problem with env variables. First off, I have a batch file which is launched by cruisecontrol and this batch file would set a couple environment variables. then it will call a second batch file which would setup some more environment variables and exit.

Where I can set the environment variable in the system properties and at the command line, what I really want to do is create multiple Windows shortcut Icons on the desktop, one for each possible environment variable setting. In O/S A, should I allow System Restore to monitor the O/S B partition, or should I switch off System Restore on that drive?
