Right Click - New - Custom Content Menu

Jul 12, 2008

I would like to be able to right click, and when I select new, have a submenu under the new that I could put my custom files for. I actually have used a program (Tweak UI) that allows me to to remove or add new files, but the problem I find is this.

I to a lot of HTML coding and create new files often. As much as I like conforming to strict, I have to use traditional from time to time, and I wanted to add for both. Well, when I used Tweak UI to add my strict template, and then checked out my "New ->" it was labeled as "New Firefox Document", which from reg searching I show is exactly what HTML is associated to. I wondered if there was a program, or a hack for my registry that would allow me to have a new file under the context menu that would otherwise not alter what .HTML was associated to (meaning, show "New Strict" and "New Traditional" but when you check the properties of index.html would show "Type of File: Firefox Document").

My guess is that to really pull this off, that I would have to make two new extentions (like .ext1 and .ext2) and when I make the new file, simply rename the extension. I know how to do that, but I was hoping that there was another way around it. Also, as noted above, how does one make a submenu under new to group things in? Such as

New -> Folder
New -> Shortcut
-----------------------
New -> text document
New -> Media -> file
New -> Media -> another
New -> Programing -> whatever

Is Custom Made Shutdown - Shortcut Button Safe To Use?

I made a desktop shortcut that I am using to shutdown the computer at the end of the day. Is it safe to use "shutdown" this way or is it better to go through the 2 extra steps: Start, Turn Off Computer, and Shutdown? It seems to work fine shutting down from the shortcut, I just don't want to damage the computer. For the shortcut I used this command: shutdown -s -t 0 -c "hi"

Increase Virtual Memory -custom Settings Change

Aug 25, 2005

I am trying to increase my virtual memory and am doing so the way I am
supposed to by running "control sysdm.cpl" and going to the appropriate steps
and then restarting my computer. What is happening, though, is when I go back
to it my settings are saved in the "custom sized" places as the new values I
put in, but the "currently allocated" amount doesn't change at all. Shouldn't
the currently allocated amount change to the minimum I designate in the
custom allocation box?Right now, the only way to get my graphics program to work faster is by overloading my memory so that Windows will automatically increase the virtual memory.Why don't my custom settings change anything?

My Album Folders Been Tagged To Have A Custom Folder Picture

Apr 26, 2008

I'm using Windows XP and I've been having problems with some MP3 files in regards to album artwork and tagging. I've discovered that it's my album folders that have been tagged (most likely by me) to have a custom Folder Picture.I want to remove all the Folder Pictures from my music album folders. I fear I will have to do one by one (which is a LOT!) unless I can find a reverse procedure in the program I suspect caused this to happen. That program is Tag&Rename, and I suspect I accidentally added custom pictures to these folders when I was adding album art to the individual music files

Add Custom "Provided By" Tag To Media Player Title Bar

Nov 6, 2004

Always make sure to create a backup of registry keys prior to making changes. TweakXP.com accepts no responsibility for problems caused by using Registry Editor incorrectly. 1. Open Registry Editor and move to the following key, creating keys where necessary:HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsMediaPlayer2. Find or create the String Value: TitleBar 3. Double click this value and enter the text you would like to appear after "Provided by".4. Click OK and close Registry Editor, In step 3 if I entered "TweakXP.com" the title bar of Windows Media Player will read "Windows Media Player provided by TweakXP.com"Note: Values in Registry Editor are case sensitive.

OEM CD Key / Re-install Without Original OEM CD?

Aug 30, 2007

I am currently working on a computer for a friend. It's a Lenovo desktop. 3000 series I believe. There is supposed to be a recovery partition on this machine but it is screwed and I do not have the recovery CDs. Getting them from Lenovo seems to be out of the question as they said they would only send them to me if the computer was still under warranty.I am trying to reinstall XP Pro. I have a valid OEM product key on the side of the machine. I figured it was OEM because the key would not work with any ordinary XP Pro CD.Does anyone know of a way to reinstall XP Pro on this machine using the CD key on the side without the recovery CD?

Replace Existing HD With New One - Use Original Cd?

Sep 4, 2009

I have a Dell Dimension Desktop that became infected with a pretty nasty virus. I have had to remove the infected HD from the machine. Instead of trashing the machine, I would like to just purchase an entirely new HD for this machine. I am guessing that when purchasing a new HD that it does NOT already come with an O/S already installed. If this guess is correct, my question is this:Can I use the original O/S Reinstallation CD that came with the machine to get the O/S installed on the new HD? ORDo I have to purchase the O/S along with the new internal HD? If more information is needed before an answer can be provided, please let me know what is needed.

RAM Recognizing Half Of Original

Oct 16, 2006

So installed WinXP Pro on my 3 month old HP pavillion personal computer and I am having an issue with the ram Apparently windows is only recognizing half of it.Here are some of the most pertinent details: AMD Turion64 ML-34,Radeon Xpress 200m w/128 MB on the video card.There are 512 MB installed DDR, Dual Channel.The bios is recognizing all 512 of the ram, but windows properties only shows 256.dxdiag also shows 256, but CPU-Z shows all 512.Does anyone have any idea whats going on? Has anyone actually experienced this phenomenon? I don't know if this is just a reading error, causing no performance difference, but I think I can feel the difference, but since its pretty new and the operating system has only been installed for about 2 weeks, I haven't gotten to get a good feel of what its supposed to be. I have also noticed in the past couple days that it takes a very long time to boot.
