Can't Find Server With Firefox And Internet Explorer
Jul 27, 2010
I have Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and I've noticed recently, that when I am online, my puter will all of a sudden get knocked off the server. I dont' know why this so much, nor how to fix the problem. I get the message "can't find server", with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then have to log off and reboot, which costs me money as I use my computer in my small business. This is very frustrating and I need to know how to fix the problem. I recently moved to an apartment from a house and I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. maybe all the signals in an apartment setting are crossing or something.

computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.

My users are unable to access the internet via Internet Explorer 7.With Firefox and changes in the proxy it works good, however, unable to access with Internet Explorer.
I'm thinking maybe the user's profile has problem. However, after deleting the user's profile and have her logged in to create a new profile, it still would not work.
How come it works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer?

I downloaded photoshop, and when I tried to install it, it says I have to be an admin. So, I logged off this account and signed in as Administrator, so when I tried to click Mozilla Firefox, it doesn't work. All it did was it came out with this : " Windows cannot find C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click search"

Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are not displaying correctly. Background images do not appear at all, and some foreground images simply do not load - they don't appear at all, even as an indication that loading the image has failed. Oddly, though, there's still a blank space the size of the picture in most cases. However, there's no way to select the picture or the area where the picture would be.
some sites with style-related features do not display correctly - web-based email and forums with borders, for example (Gmail is for all intents and purposes in black and white). Internet Explorer takes the problem a step further - it increases the text size to ludicrous proportions, so that even a small chunk of text takes up several pages. I have also noticed a similar problem in semi-online programs - using McAfee VirusScan, for example (which updates through a web service) results in text that is simply too large to fit into the window, rendering the program unusable.

Browser will not resove domain names, but will connect to a URL based on an IP address. Nslookup works, but DNScache is empty (DNScache enabled). No traffic from host to resolve name detected on the modem firewall. Other PCs continue to work as normal. Was adding Service pack 3 for XP when this occurred. No other browser on this PC.

I received the following error message yesterday morning when I attempted to access the internet via Internet Explorer:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error! Program: D:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Running WinXProSP2. When I go to add/remove programs and click on the Windows components button, I get the error message: "Setup library MSDTCSTP.dll could not be loaded, or function 0cEntry could not be found. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x7e." I've searched a lot and the only references I can find are to Server 2003.

Every time I try to open a web link from my screen I get an error message that says "Windows cannot find, http// ... make sure you typed name correctly ...". Option is to click on OK, but right after message appears it will open the page and I can open all the other net links normally, but not internal pages until message is gone. I've re-installed Firefox. Only thing I haven't done is re-install windows.

I tried to find the button to shut this off but I can't. The problem is that when I am in explorer and click on any links they open up in firefox. Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?

At random times, my Firefox will freeze, and I have no other choice to get it away but to restart my entire computer, and that is VERY annoying. And at other times, explorer.exe (obviously the start menu, task bar, etc) just fails by saying:"Explorer.exe has encountered a problem and has to close. Sorry for the inconvenience."

I have a pen4 computer with 1 GB of memory and lots of free space on the hard drive. when I click or try to open explorer or Firefox, it just sets there for sometimes 4 or 5 minutes and then it opens. I have a cable modem with other computer on it and none of them have problems.
When I click on the Icon, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds and then goes away, there does not seem to be any activity on the HD and then it all opens and works fine until it is closed again...

I'm working on a computer that is blocking internet access to IE and firefox. Looks to me like the owner attempted to clear things up but left some remnants of a hijacker I can't find. When I open IE I notice the info bar redirecting me to C:windows escan't make out the full path then I get the page cannot be displayed message.
To be very clear, I can send and recieve email, I can ping and get a response, and I can also get online and able to browse in safe mode. So the connection is not completely down. Only when I am logged into a user account does this happen. Here is a HJT log. I restored a backup so one of you may get a better feeling as to what is going on. I am aware of the trojan infection of services32.exe as well as a couple other hijackers. However, when I remove all the baddies I see there is still no internet..........

I tested the connection using web browser as well as cute ftp and I have no problem in connecting by entering static IP Address from web browser and cute ftp.
The objective for ftp server is to share files with our clients. Now the problem is i can connect by entering my static ip address but not the internal domain name of my windows 2000 server which is tecnoserve.dxb. I dont want to give my clients our Static ip address to connect our ftp server.

Okay I have a IBM e-server running Server 2003 SP2 and I rebooted the system after an AVG Server edition update required a reboot. The system booted up fine, My remote offices can connect through terminal services just fine, I can ping websites, I can Ping my ip, dns, etc. But I cannot access the internet from the server through internet explorer. I rebooted the server again and the same problem still persist. I even disabled the web filters in my Linksys RV082 Router. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Could and AVG update caused this?
