View 3 RepliesI have had this problem for quite a time now. Everytime I try to download a file it is corrupt. For instance, I tried downloading a movie clip off rapidshare and although its only 3 files and 300MB, it always came as CRC error check failed. I tried downloading it from multiple servers of rapidshare but had no success. I also tried downloading other files yet I am having no success downloading anything.

This is only SOME exe's. Particularly, older programs. Word, excel, WordPerfect all work. Older apps don't.

I am running windows xp sp3. I tried to uninstall Frost Wire, via add or remove programs. When I right clicked on them and tried to delete, that is when I received the above error message

View 1 Replies View Relatedyesterday I was downloading using a Firefox browser and most of you will know when you download something using a Firefox broswer you get 2 files 'zip file' and something else (random file) on a 'Desktop' when downloading.
Suddenly yesterday my internet disconnected when I was downloading and zip file was there and random file with zip file was there tooI don't know why but I thought it was unusual and thought it should've been finished downloading so I wanted to know why it was there still because it should be gone when it's finished and only zip file should be on Desktop I right clicked on that random file and pressed connect program (C) somehow out of the blue I just changed it to zip file which I should've left it alone and delete it or something
I recently downloaded something but the file didn't save to the usual place. Instead, the file has been saved to a place on my PC which I am finding impossible to locate (the downloading was successfully completed after a short while by-the-way) According to the program I used to download the file it has been saved to...C:Documents and SettingsuserLocal SettingsTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5 (I'm not sure why the file was saved here!) When I go to C:Documents and Settings I am unable to find the 'User' folder and so cannot goto (or see) the other folders where this file has been saved. The only folder I can see in Documents and Settings is 'All Users'.

I downloaded a file (mpg) and scanned it for viruses and it was clean. I deleted the file but now I have an icon sitting on my desktop that won't delete. View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded a torrent file to my desktop. I immediately noticed the file did not look like it was supposed to, and the file is 0 bytes in size. I tried to delete the file, but I get an error message (Cannot Delete File: Cannot read from the source file or disc). If I try to rename the file, it stays highlighted and the error message will not go away. I have to reboot to get the error message off of my desktop. When I click on properties, I'm told the type of file is: "File", and the size, and size on disc is 0 bytes.

I have other programs such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, Microsoft Office 2003 with Word as my default, Google Email, and Family Tree Maker 2005 installed. I have received my Windows Update notification that Service Pack 3 is ready for me to download. I have not downloaded yet. I have done some extensive research on problems with SP3 and have found a lot of information, much which is not too praising of SP3. However, most of the stuff that I have found on the internet is older stuff. I have searched MS data to see what they have posted about SP3 problems. What I am looking for here is has anyone had or know of any problems with SP3 that has been download say in the past three months or so?
I downloaded a bios update from Dell. After using it, I can not delet it from my desktop. I get a message that says, " Close any programs that might be using this program and try again". This has happened to me one other time. The way I got rid of it that time was using "system restore". I would rather not do that this time.

I have a file in my start menu and I would like to find the source of this (shortcut) file. I tried right-clicking, viewing properties. It does not say where the shortcut comes from. Also, the file is Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, but I can't find the original file .exe where this is launching from.
