Jan 5, 2005I installed a parental control program for Internet Explorer, but it was not allowing AOL to dial any numbers. Also, after shutting down the AOL, Windows XP would shut down the parental control program saying that it was malfunctioning. So I decided to delete the parental control program from my hard drive, and I used the uninstall program of the parental control program to uninstall it. After the uninstall, I noticed that I could dial and use the AOL browser as usual, but I could not use Internet Explorer. Any web pages that I tried to visit using IE would not display, and Internet Explorer would say, �This page cannot be displayed.

Apr 3, 2005computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.

Jul 27, 2010I have Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and I've noticed recently, that when I am online, my puter will all of a sudden get knocked off the server. I dont' know why this so much, nor how to fix the problem. I get the message "can't find server", with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then have to log off and reboot, which costs me money as I use my computer in my small business. This is very frustrating and I need to know how to fix the problem. I recently moved to an apartment from a house and I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. maybe all the signals in an apartment setting are crossing or something.

Background images do not appear at all, and some foreground images simply do not load - they don't appear at all, even as an indication that loading the image has failed. Oddly, though, there's still a blank space the size of the picture in most cases. However, there's no way to select the picture or the area where the picture would be.
some sites with style-related features do not display correctly - web-based email and forums with borders, for example (Gmail is for all intents and purposes in black and white). Internet Explorer takes the problem a step further - it increases the text size to ludicrous proportions, so that even a small chunk of text takes up several pages. I have also noticed a similar problem in semi-online programs - using McAfee VirusScan, for example (which updates through a web service) results in text that is simply too large to fit into the window, rendering the program unusable.

Feb 16, 2008I will try to explain what is wrong. every week I receive a newsletter with job offers, at the end of each job there is a link to go to the website for more info.... normally the link is in blue, and I just click it, and proceed to the website. however, on the last two occasions the link is in normal text(white) and I cant open the website, all settings are at default on my pc.

Nov 21, 2006I tried to find the button to shut this off but I can't. The problem is that when I am in explorer and click on any links they open up in firefox. Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?

Mar 5, 2010I have a pen4 computer with 1 GB of memory and lots of free space on the hard drive. when I click or try to open explorer or Firefox, it just sets there for sometimes 4 or 5 minutes and then it opens. I have a cable modem with other computer on it and none of them have problems.
When I click on the Icon, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds and then goes away, there does not seem to be any activity on the HD and then it all opens and works fine until it is closed again...

Sep 8, 2005I'm working on a computer that is blocking internet access to IE and firefox. Looks to me like the owner attempted to clear things up but left some remnants of a hijacker I can't find. When I open IE I notice the info bar redirecting me to C:windows escan't make out the full path then I get the page cannot be displayed message.
To be very clear, I can send and recieve email, I can ping and get a response, and I can also get online and able to browse in safe mode. So the connection is not completely down. Only when I am logged into a user account does this happen. Here is a HJT log. I restored a backup so one of you may get a better feeling as to what is going on. I am aware of the trojan infection of services32.exe as well as a couple other hijackers. However, when I remove all the baddies I see there is still no internet..........
