I haven't found any file named BOOKMARKS.HTML , file is not found!. I have XP SP2. I just got up this morning and they were gone, They worked last night,cuz I entered about 5 new entries. Is it possible that one of these new entries was infected or something?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Firefox doing things to your Bookmarks was apparently much more intuitive than in In Firefox there is seemingly no way to do things. In IE 7 there is a button in "Organize Favorites" to rename a Favorite but I can't figure out how to do it in Firefox 3. In IE 7 there are also buttons for "New Folder", "Move" and "Delete." I originally started this because I couldn't figure out how to rename a Bookmark. Now I know there is other stuff that I used to know how to do in Firefox 2 but I don't now with 3.

I'm going to be transfering computers so I plan on saving this file on a cd or a flash drive and then opening it up on my new laptop. Try going to add/remove windows components and unclicking internet explorer then click next then go back and reclick internet explorer and click next again. If it is listed in add/remove than just click the hange/repair button
View 14 Replies View RelatedI understand that if I remove a USB drive without going through the process of using the "Safely Remove" icon I run the risk of getting a 'phantom' drive listed in Explorer. I have found this out the hard way! I have several partitions on the main drive and also other external hard drives - in getting these 'phantom' drives the drive letters somehow got reassigned without my intervention so now cause a problem accessing from my network. All my efforts to remove the entries have failed - I have tried through Device Manager but cannot figure out which entry would apply to the ones I have. I have one from a U3 drive which uses 2 drive letters and another single one. If I click on the "Safely Remove" icon I can get them to disappear until I reboot. I tried using those 'phantom' letters for other drives - again all goes well until I reboot and I am back to square one. I have searched the registry for the entries that set the drives but cannot figure that out either. Various trial deletions have no effect.

I looked in Windows Explorer to try to find some huge files that might be corrupt and I see a few that are listed in blue.I have not compressed anything on purpose.

I reinstalled windows fine on a new hard drive with no problem. My back up hard drive is not showing in my explorer list though. Does anybody know how I may access it? I've installed all motherboard software and it still is not there. I don't wanna reformat that drive unless its the only thing i can do.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to find the button to shut this off but I can't. The problem is that when I am in explorer and click on any links they open up in firefox. Even in messenger when I click on mail it opens firefox instead of explorer. And so msn takes me to a different page then what it usually does and pisses me off. Also like when I want to do windows update it opens up in firefox so it does not work. I like firefox and use it for almost everything but there is just some thing explorer can do that firefox can't, ie: like update windows. So how do I get it to work like it is suppose to?

I dont' know why this so much, nor how to fix the problem. I get the message "can't find server", with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then have to log off and reboot, which costs me money as I use my computer in my small business. This is very frustrating and I need to know how to fix the problem. I recently moved to an apartment from a house and I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. maybe all the signals in an apartment setting are crossing or something.

The wierd thing is, I can get google earth to work, I can sign into yahoo messenger, but I can't open IE because it says "page cannot be displayed. Background images do not appear at all, and some foreground images simply do not load - they don't appear at all, even as an indication that loading the image has failed. Oddly, though, there's still a blank space the size of the picture in most cases. However, there's no way to select the picture or the area where the picture would be.
some sites with style-related features do not display correctly - web-based email and forums with borders, for example (Gmail is for all intents and purposes in black and white). Internet Explorer takes the problem a step further - it increases the text size to ludicrous proportions, so that even a small chunk of text takes up several pages. I have also noticed a similar problem in semi-online programs - using McAfee VirusScan, for example (which updates through a web service) results in text that is simply too large to fit into the window, rendering the program unusable.
I have a pen4 computer with 1 GB of memory and lots of free space on the hard drive. when I click or try to open explorer or Firefox, it just sets there for sometimes 4 or 5 minutes and then it opens. I have a cable modem with other computer on it and none of them have problems.
When I click on the Icon, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds and then goes away, there does not seem to be any activity on the HD and then it all opens and works fine until it is closed again...

So, I logged off this account and signed in as Administrator, so when I tried to click Mozilla Firefox, it doesn't work. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.
