Transfering Outlook Addresses And Firefox / IE Bookmarks
Feb 12, 2006
I am purchasing a new computer. How do I transfer the emails and addresses from Microsoft Outlook to my new computer? How can I transfer my saved bookmarks from Firefox and IE to my new comuter?
My father wants to know if he can increase the TEXT in the Bookmarks on firefox?he can increase text size INSIDE the browser (which he has done) but struggles to read the bookmarks.
In WinXP Home SP3, I use Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3.In Windows Explorer, are my Firefox bookmarks listed anywhere? I've checked in multiple places, and have found only OwnerApplication DataMozillaFirefoxProfilesmi7len3s.defaultookmarkbackups.json files are listed. Are Firefox bookmarks listed as URLs in a Windows Explorer folder?
I need help finding my bookmarks. I have read all the previous posts on the subject in the XP forums and nothing is working. I haven't found any file named BOOKMARKS.HTML , file is not found!. I have XP SP2. I just got up this morning and they were gone, They worked last night, cuz I entered about 5 new entries. Is it possible that one of these new entries was infected or something?
When I would save a Favorite site in IE, it would tell me that I was trying to save a duplicate, did I want to overwrite or replace it. This does not happen in my Firefox. I forget & save the same website again. Therefore, I get duplicates in my Firefox Bookmarks.
In Firefox doing things to your Bookmarks was apparently much more intuitive than in In Firefox there is seemingly no way to do things. In IE 7 there is a button in "Organize Favorites" to rename a Favorite but I can't figure out how to do it in Firefox 3. In IE 7 there are also buttons for "New Folder", "Move" and "Delete." I originally started this because I couldn't figure out how to rename a Bookmark. Now I know there is other stuff that I used to know how to do in Firefox 2 but I don't now with 3.
I figured out how to backup my massive amount of firefox bookmarks into a html file on my cp. I'm going to be transfering computers so I plan on saving this file on a cd or a flash drive and then opening it up on my new laptop. Problem is, my family will be keeping this cp so I need to clean out the massive amount of bookmarks I've got.How I can do this without having to tediously right click everyone away?
My computer crashed an hour or so ago and upon restarting I discovered that all my bookmarks in Firefox had been wiped out. I've tried a system restore but it has not restored the bookmarks.what I can do to get them back as it would be a real bummer to try and remember them all?
When I shut down my computer it installed a new version of Outlook Express and it no longer had my contacts or emails. I couldn't figure it out so I set back my computer to an earlier date and it was back to normal.Shut down my computer again and I have the new version of Outlook again with no address or emails. Any thoughts on what is going on and how I can get this fixed?
excuse my ignorance but is Outlook Express part of:
a) the operating system (in this case windows xp) b) microsoft office c) something else
I'm trying to set up a new computer for a charity, just one problem they did not back up their email addresses and emails on outlook express from their last machine (which failed) so what do we do to restore everything? just wondered if anyone knew WHERE on the hard drive does outlook express store its emails and email addresses?
Is there a recommended way to transfer data and settings (bookmarks, outlook express etc...not programs) from win98 to winxp? I finally had to upgrade and I dread the task. I am doing it disc by disc but ugh.The has to be a way to "hose" it in from one pppc to the other.
I have a strange problem with Outlook 2003 and Mozilla Firefox browser. When I receive an email with a internet link and I click the link two browser windows open, one to my default home page, the other one to the link. Sometimes one of the Firefox browser windows will be no bigger than the little firefox icon and the three window controls.
I will be working away and all of sudden I will get a pop up that says" firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close." Why am I received this notice. I also get the same from Outlook express encountering a problem.I have winxp home edition/ service pack 2. Amd Athlon XP 2800+ and 2.07 GHz, 512 MV of Ram.
I downloaded photoshop, and when I tried to install it, it says I have to be an admin. So, I logged off this account and signed in as Administrator, so when I tried to click Mozilla Firefox, it doesn't work. All it did was it came out with this : " Windows cannot find C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click search"
I have set my default browser as FireFox. So the html files show the Firefox symbol. They should automatically open in Firefox. But this does not happen. When I click on the file nothing used to happen.Suddenly now it opens with IE.When I right click and click open with FireFox nothing happens.
A friend of mine has an old computer with Windows XP home on it. It's basically a piece of junk, out dated and has things wrong with it. Basically the capacitors on the board are popping and leaking. It won't run anymore. So a new computer will be bought. New motherboard and case. However it has no windows. The windows on the old system is pre-loaded on that computer. Is it possible to somehow install XP on the new computer using the old key and without buying a whole new copy of Windows XP? I figure xp won't allow this right off the bat, but does Microsoft offer any way to do this? I think it should be possible since XP is only being used on one system. Paying for windows twice doesn't seem just right in this case. I also know some keys are defined for certain types of hardware configurations (oems etc). But I still wonder if there is a way.

I just bought an HP mini notebook and want to transfer my "Favorites" and 'Address book' to the new computer using a USB memory stick. Both machines are having Win XP Home Edition. I tried to use Windows Easy Transfer and even there I don't know where to look for my address book and can't get the screen resolution on the mini to remain as required by Win Easy Transfer before it will work on the computer.

I have a Sony Vaio and I have way too much on my C drive - I can't even defrag my computer due to usage. I was curious if someone could walk me through the steps to move some of it to the D drive to make some space. I am afraid to delete anything that came w/ the computer - in case there are shared files or something. Also I can't find the disks/paperwork that came with it.
How would I go about connecting two separate desktop PC and then transferring the data from one to the other. Both have windows XP on them. If someone can tell me where to find the info, it would be deeply appreciated. Can they be connected with a serial cable, CAT5, USB or other cable without setting up a whole network?

This is the problem in which I'm currently in. I saved roughly about 15Gs worth of music and numerous pictures in my documents. Well since then I've changed the h.d, motherboard, and a few other things and installed a fresh copy of windows on the alternate h.d. well with the first h.d set as a slave and no means of going back to my original setup because i deleted most of everything on the h.d except a few folders it won't give me access to those folders. I'm wondering is there anyway of gaining access to those folder?
i have 2 hard drives in my system h/d 1 is 40 gb and holds windows xp and few applications, h/d 2 is 15 gb and holds all my games. i am going to ureplace h/d 2 with a larger h/d (80 gb), my question is can i copy my games over to the new hard drive and remove h/d 2 without causing system problems/comflicts or should i just uninstall my games and reinstall them onto my new h/d (80 gb).
I dunno what happened, Pulled up ffox this morning and all my bookmarks are gone. Can I get them back?Runnning XP Home and tried sysrestore but didn't work.
