Firefox Bookmarks Save The Same Website More Than Once
Sep 1, 2005When I would save a Favorite site in IE, it would tell me that I was trying to save a duplicate, did I want to overwrite or replace it. This does not happen in my Firefox. I forget & save the same website again. Therefore, I get duplicates in my Firefox Bookmarks.

Aug 14, 2005I need help finding my bookmarks. I have read all the previous posts on the subject in the XP forums and nothing is working. I haven't found any file named BOOKMARKS.HTML , file is not found!. I have XP SP2. I just got up this morning and they were gone, They worked last night,cuz I entered about 5 new entries. Is it possible that one of these new entries was infected or something?

Aug 19, 2008In Firefox doing things to your Bookmarks was apparently much more intuitive than in In Firefox there is seemingly no way to do things. In IE 7 there is a button in "Organize Favorites" to rename a Favorite but I can't figure out how to do it in Firefox 3. In IE 7 there are also buttons for "New Folder", "Move" and "Delete." I originally started this because I couldn't figure out how to rename a Bookmark. Now I know there is other stuff that I used to know how to do in Firefox 2 but I don't now with 3.

I'm going to be transfering computers so I plan on saving this file on a cd or a flash drive and then opening it up on my new laptop. Mar 9, 2010I've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.

So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. Jul 23, 2005When downloading files, any type files, just using IE's dialog, or using a Download Manager's dialog, Explorer's Save or Save As panels *will not* allow me to create a new folder on XPpro [current user's] desktop! I am allowed to save the file to the desktop, and of course, can then create a new folder directly on the desktop with the context menu, and etc. It will allow me to create a new folder anywhere else and save any type file being downloaded into that new folder.It simply will not allow me to create a new folder on the Desktop.Could this be some kind of registry alteration?

(the bookmarks are all i need to salvage from the c drive as my downloads files and documents are safely stored on my 2nd hard drive) My home PC (windows XP) died a death the other day playing up, wont boot now, says ntldr is missing, wont even boot up in safe mode, it doesnt get as far as giving me an option. (tried swopping cables around and stripped bare to the basics needed to boot but no such luck there either). Boots up with a unix live disc but i noticed it cant detect the c drive on the system, altho it does in bios.

Another oddity is that FTP connections in IE 6 seem to work fine.Through another forum, I found out that if I open a webpage through My Computer, it also connects just fine.
