I noticed this problem like a week ago. I tried to download and save some vids, but the windows that says the percent of your download just freezes. I thought it was a problem with the vid, but now I see it's the computer.Whatever I try to dowload it's the same problem. What can it be? It was fine before.
View 1 RepliesI've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA while back I had a program or a tweak that enabled me to change/add to the list on the left side of the window that opens when you want to save or save as. So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. (See Photo) Does anyone know of a tweak/program that would allow me to do this?

The download goes ahead, but at the point of writing the file to my local hard disk, I get the following error message, then the file is deleted!!!"Windows Security Warning Windows found that this file is potentially harmful.To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file."I wouldn't mind, but I haven't changed anything that would have enforced this, can't find any way of disabling / configuring this functionality and I trust the file and its source (a good example is the Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus software downloads!)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can not launch 90% of my apps, word, excel, adaware, when I click on the program it launches, and I get the .exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Then it shuts down that program. I can not add any new favorites to my internet explorer, does the same thing. I can not download a file and save it, I can download a file and run it though, not always successfully. Pretty much the pc is becoming crippled I have run registryfix7 (had it installed) fixed what was listed, but no helpI have done a full virus scan and spyware scan with Windows LiveOneCare, nothing shows up.
View 14 Replies View Relatedactually at my work place i'm trying to download some hindi mp3 music files but somehow it not working. as I'm trying to right click on the song link and by selecting 'save target as' its openning the dailog box to save it but at this point it trying to save as HTML documents instead of mp3 format.if i try manuaaly to change file extension from html to mp3 than i can not play this file as it gives error about class-file of media player.I checked on Internet explorer tools internet option and security tab and verfied download file is enabled.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded microsoft frontpage extensions resource zip file and accidentally sent the extracted files to desktop. (119 files) I did not save the file at download but just ran the zip file and the extracted files opened in desktop. I deleted the files from my desktop and recycle bin. Every time I start/reboot, these 119 files continue to open, cluttering my desktop. I need the formula/pathway to follow to get to the destination in regedit.exe hkey_current_user start up folder with instructions on how to delete these extracted files so they will stop opening to my desktop at start.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen downloading files, any type files, just using IE's dialog, or using a Download Manager's dialog, Explorer's Save or Save As panels *will not* allow me to create a new folder on XPpro [current user's] desktop! I am allowed to save the file to the desktop, and of course, can then create a new folder directly on the desktop with the context menu, and etc. It will allow me to create a new folder anywhere else and save any type file being downloaded into that new folder.It simply will not allow me to create a new folder on the Desktop.Could this be some kind of registry alteration?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am unable to save programs to CDs. When I choose "Save to" on my drop down menu, my only choices are "Floppy(A) and "Removable Disk (D) which I presume is my Zip drive. How do I add "Removable Disk(E)" and "Removable Disk (F)" to the menu? Or can I? "E" is my original CD drive and "F" is my CD player and burner. MY OS is Windows 2000 Pro SP4.

Is there any way to savethe setting for hibernation constantly and not have it revert to "standby"? It's a nuisance having to set hibernate each time I want it to do this.

When I save to cd I can not play it in my dvd player it is a new dvd player that supports high mat and video cds. I can play the cd in my computer in windows media player but to send one to some one who doesn't have a computer they can't use it. what do I do to save it in a format that most dvd players will host.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows XP SP2 and I have just noticed in the couple days, that whenever I use an open/save as dialog box (to open/save a song in from firefox, to send a file in messenger etc), all the files are getting listed and arranged by name in reverse order (z-a).They were always getting displayed by name in the right order, which I assume is the default, until recently.Any idea on how I could get it back that way? I know it is a minor issue, but it has really decreased the speed with which I look through my system.I've tried arranging the icons by name, but it never seems to save.
