Cannot Save JPEG In Paint
Jun 29, 2005I have a problem saving JPEG images in Paint on a newly installed Windows XP
SP2 installation. I get the error...
"Paint cannot save this file. Save was interrupted, so your file has not been
saved".

Clicking On JPEG Files Results In Opening MS Paint?
Jan 20, 2006I double click on a Jpeg it opens in Windows Paint instead of the Windows Fax and Picture viewer as it has always done.BMP and GIFS still open correctly When I check under properties it states that Windows Picture and Fax viewer is the programme it opens with and that is highlighted in the drop down column. I can open them when I use the right click drop down menu and select preview, then it will open in the viewer. I have ran Norton Antivirus, spybot, Ewido, adaware. I have tried changing the Jpegs to open with paint, then changing it back again, still won't budge.

Mar 9, 2010I've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.

Jun 22, 2005I am trying to do a system restore and my system runs it all but when all is done I get a message saying that no changes have been made to my system and that the system restore was unsuccessful. The reason I am trying to restore my system is because Photoshop is suddenly unable to save as a jpeg? It doesn't recognise the jpeg format when saving and saves as a Photoshop document. THen it wont recognise the file to open it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no avail. Funnily enough photoshop elements has no problem with it.

Jul 22, 2005I'm using Windows XP and I've just realised that recently all the pictures I've saved have been in Bitmap fromat and usually the default extension it saves to is JPEG. It doesn't even give me the JPEG option now. I have to convert all my images from Bitmap to JPEG via Paint. Coz some pictures are riduculously big on bitmap like 40MB when its 1MB on Jpeg.

Apr 9, 2007A while back I had a program or a tweak that enabled me to change/add to the list on the left side of the window that opens when you want to save or save as. So, if I was saving a photo, instead of clicking on My Documents >> My Pictures, I was able to just click on My Pictures, ect. (See Photo) Does anyone know of a tweak/program that would allow me to do this?

With my old Windows 98, if I simply put ".jpeg" in the top search line (with Local Hard drive for my choice of "look in"), the results would be hundreds of .jpeg files. Apr 9, 2006Just reformated my computer, installed all critical windows updates, scanned for virus'/spyware, and updated all hardware drivers. When i try to set jpegs as wallpapers it takes an eternity to load them and causes the display properties window to hang, but bmp's load up instantly.. Jpegs work and load perfectly fine in other programs such as paint, photoshop though.All of this is after i have just reformated for like the 3rd time in 2 days to see if it was a installation problem, but i guess not. It would seem its a hardware issue but i can play games like oblivion at normal fps, aswell as other games.

I am allowed to save the file to the desktop, and of course, can then create a new folder directly on the desktop with the context menu, and etc. It will allow me to create a new folder anywhere else and save any type file being downloaded into that new folder.It simply will not allow me to create a new folder on the Desktop.Could this be some kind of registry alteration?

I killed the one that was taking up the most memory usage and the computer was slightly better... in Paint, I could actually use the Pencil tool without lagging, but the scrolling and paintbucket was laggy still.
