I'm using Windows XP and I've just realised that recently all the pictures I've saved have been in Bitmap fromat and usually the default extension it saves to is JPEG. It doesn't even give me the JPEG option now. I have to convert all my images from Bitmap to JPEG via Paint. Coz some pictures are riduculously big on bitmap like 40MB when its 1MB on Jpeg.
View 12 RepliesI am trying to do a system restore and my system runs it all but when all is done I get a message saying that no changes have been made to my system and that the system restore was unsuccessful. The reason I am trying to restore my system is because Photoshop is suddenly unable to save as a jpeg? It doesn't recognise the jpeg format when saving and saves as a Photoshop document. THen it wont recognise the file to open it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no avail. Funnily enough photoshop elements has no problem with it.

I hope i'm posting this in the correct forum. here goes. i have an acer aspire one netbook running windows xp. now, usually, i am able to go on the internet, go into my facebook or flickr account and if i want to take that photo and save it to my desktop so i can upload it to another forum or a blog, i right-click it, 'save as', and then a new window pops up and it lets me pick a folder where i want it to go. for some reason, when i right click on an image and hit 'save as', nothing happens. no window pops up. i know it's not one of those copyright/code things because i went into my own facebook account, right-clicked some photos in my own album, and it still won't let me save them into a chosen folder.

I know I can do this with Ghost and sysprep and save the images onto a hard drive and use ghost cast server to deploy. However, he wants me to make a cd of Windows to self install without the use of ghost. He thought I could make an ISO of a ghost file and that would run. I told him that would never work. Is there a way to make this work via sysprep? I have all legal licensing as this is an enterprise license.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have checked into everything I can think of so that I can view images in my e-mail and on e-card websites.I have also downloaded netscape but it is the same there.I have a Dell Dimension 4600 Series desktop computer.I use Windows XP, Norton SystemWorks Premier 2005. I have Spyware Blaster, Pop Up blocker and a firewall.I have gone to each of these and checked anything that would prevent being able to view images.I get a blank bacground with a tiny square with a red x in it. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have recently started my old HP PC up, and it's not looking good. It's so old that it basically makes itself useless, even though it runs iTunes.
Anyway, it's got a bunch of junk on it that I don't have the time to sift through. It hardly runs right, and when it does run, it freezes up on everything. Here are its (horrible) specs:
HP Vectra w/ a Pentium III 501Mhz Processor (yeah I know, it's not 500 lol)
8GB HD
256MB of RAM
It practically sucks but it's surprising how well it runs on this CPU and RAM. Before iTunes 7 came out, iTunes worked almost as well as on a Mac (but we know that will never happen lol). Now, it has problems connecting to my wireless network because I have locked up my Wi-Fi security. I also have a surprising amount of junk on it even though the HD is old and has just 8GB.
What I wan to do is switch out the board, but I have done that yet. What I DO NEED TO DO is wipe the entire drive clean, and reinstall XP. Why? Because there's so much stuff on it and it seems to have a virus slowing it down. I have no idea if it actually has one, but I suspect it due to its recent performance. I DON'T have the install disks.
Should I just try to wipe it clean with my Mac somehow (instructions for Disk Utility for this would help a lot)? Should I swap the board and just buy a brand new, clean copy of XP? as I can't get on the machine and try to fix it myself. And, no, I'm not typing this on it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been over run with viruses and I've taken out 10 but my laptop is still a mess so I want to do a fresh install. I backed up all my data and went to boot from cd after restarting but it won't boot. I changed the boot order so the cdrom is first but it doesn't spin or anything at startup....it just goes to the windows loading screen and doesn't give me a option to boot from a cd. I also have an external cd drive if that helps....but I tried that and I can't boot from startup. Is there any way I can reformat my hard drive without using the windows cd at startup?? What can I do to get my cd to boot? The cd drive works fine but I just can't get it to work at startup. I am totally lost without my laptop. I am having to use my moms computer to type this so someone tell me what all I can do to get my hard drive reformatted and a fresh install of windows put on my laptop.

Hence I went about formatting (it came formatted) the drive as it came with the NTFS system. When I prepare to format the drive via disk management, it only gives me the option of an NTFS format and no FAT32.

View 2 Replies View Relatedcomputer started to run very poorly: lagging, freezing up, windows end task etc finnaly one day it would not go into desktop. would only give option to start in normal mode or safe mode. so i tried starting in both but would only restart into the same option screen.I decided it was best to format harddrive and reload windows. insert windows disk and proceeded to format partition and reinstall windows. it formats all that way to 90 % and then states cannot format partition further, harddrive problems and to trouble shoot manual. tried quick format and repair but still nothing.tried restarting without reinstall disk. says cant access OS of course!

I have a Compaq Armada E500 laptop, 4GB, 2.81 GB of used space, 1.18 GB of free space, running on "Windows 2000 Professional" ("Built on NT technology"). I'm having problems downloading certain softwares, it seems "Windows 2000 Professional" just doesn't let me do it. Plus, I've found there's other things I just can't do with it. I've been told Windows 98 is the best way to go for me + it'll free up some more space (you can see my laptop has very little space) + it'll let me download the softwares I need with no problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.
