Dec 16, 2006How do I change a file extension from GIF to JPEG? I want to change a picture from GIF to JPEG. Is there a way to do this. I scanned the pictures into my computer. I want to upload them to Shutterfly, but they do not accept GIF.

Feb 19, 2006Recently, whenever I right-click on a jpeg or mp3 file, it takes about 20-30 seconds for the right click menu to come up. Right clicking works fine on most other file types. My file assocications are intact and havn't changed.

With my old Windows 98, if I simply put ".jpeg" in the top search line (with Local Hard drive for my choice of "look in"), the results would be hundreds of .jpeg files. And when I try it with XP there are only 8 .jpeg files listed.when I know there are hundreds on my computer? I am looking for a picture that I know I have, but not sure where it is and I don't recall the name I had it listed as.I also tried searching for .ico files just to see if that worked and it did, however,It listed a lot of .ico files, but not all of them.

Apr 9, 2006Just reformated my computer, installed all critical windows updates, scanned for virus'/spyware, and updated all hardware drivers. When i try to set jpegs as wallpapers it takes an eternity to load them and causes the display properties window to hang, but bmp's load up instantly.. Jpegs work and load perfectly fine in other programs such as paint, photoshop though.All of this is after i have just reformated for like the 3rd time in 2 days to see if it was a installation problem, but i guess not. It would seem its a hardware issue but i can play games like oblivion at normal fps, aswell as other games.

Jan 20, 2006I double click on a Jpeg it opens in Windows Paint instead of the Windows Fax and Picture viewer as it has always done.BMP and GIFS still open correctly When I check under properties it states that Windows Picture and Fax viewer is the programme it opens with and that is highlighted in the drop down column. I can open them when I use the right click drop down menu and select preview, then it will open in the viewer. I have ran Norton Antivirus, spybot, Ewido, adaware. I have tried changing the Jpegs to open with paint, then changing it back again, still won't budge.

However, on each thumbnail, there is a significant amount of white space at the top and bottom, that is left over. You will know what I mean if you look at my avatar.

Jan 12, 2007i have a collection of pictures on my pc,tranferred on to hard drive from a digital camera.they cover sep-dec'06. i have put them all,individually, in a folder,having renamed them to a,b,c, --- etc,to get them to burn to cd-r in sequence. i use xp's 'burn to cd' facility.however,they still come out jumbled and not in sequence as desired. i believe there is a way of correctly renaming them for this purpose but i can not remember how. i seem to remember some article suggesting using 0000/0001/0002 numbering etc to achieve this.is this correct/ correct numbering sequence?

Apr 4, 2007My daughter's eMachines PC has XP. She was moving some photos from one folder to another. Now they won't preview or open. The thumbnail images do not show up either.In Properties they do not say "Read Only" or "Hidden" and it will not let me alter anything. It will say "Error Applying Attributes"-"Access is denied".I asked her what happened and she said she was prompted if she wanted to move these "Read Only" files and she clicked "Yes" because she said it has asked her before on some.It lists the titles and the size of the files. The other photos in the folder show their previews and thumbnails, but these just show the generic JEPG icon.

Oct 13, 2007About 2 weeks ago I went to open an attachment and it said i needed a different program to open this. Up pops a box with a dozen or so of my regular programs so I though I will try microsoft word. I now know that was the wrong thing to do as all my pictures on my computer (hundreds) if clicked on Microsoft word opens AND THEN EVERTHING COMES UP IN XO/ JIBBERISH.i THINK ITS CALLED SCRIPT.The only way I can get the picture to open in the right program which is Nero is to right click mouse and point to open .It then directly opens in Nero.Last night we uninstalled Microsoft word and Nero to see if that helped and it did not.Lastly if email is sent with attachment when it is open it also come up through Microsoft word in gibberish however the picture is in the bottom prevue pane.

I ran HP PC System Recovery, the non destructive version because some of my system files were missing. Problem solved on that, but now my photos are all gone. I looked at the hard drive space and I cannot remember what the exact amount was before, but it looks like I have about the same amount.
