May 30, 2005I need to use the jpeg fileformat asap today!I got a fresh 2k w/sp4 install and I am desperate for jpeg support, where can I get it?

Formatting Vista Back ASAP
Apr 8, 2010the last time i formatted my hard drive was 2 years ago and i actually did this same thing. went from Windows Vista BACK to my XP.. i just cant remember how i did it.. i know i was in some sort of MS DOS looking thing.. and i chose to partition my Vista HD or whatever and straight up formatted it. the entire Vista was GONE and once it was gone, i restared or it restarted for me and i had my XP disc in the CD/DVD-Rom drive and it automatically started installing that on the new and clean partition.. Vista was gone, as well as everything i once had.. but i DID back everything important up...
i know SOMEONE out there knows what im talking about and how to do it this way without KILLDISK or any other software. i just want to use what i already have, like ive done in the past. format the partition tha Vista is on and start over fresh and new with XP. my computer came with XP on it and about 2 months later i received the Vista upgrade in the mail and upgraded to it.
Explorer.exe Stops Responding ASAP
Jul 1, 2005I have been having this problam for a while but I just ignored it until now, because it is pissing me off. If I open a folder(any) some times it wont open, explorer.exe just closes and opens by itself. Some times I have to go to Task nager>Processes>explorer.exe right click on it and End Process Tree and then I have to go and open it using "New Task.." in Task Manager. Then it lets me open a folder but if I don't use the folder for a while and then start using it or close it and then wait and open another folder the same thing happens.

Apr 13, 2006I need to do a clean wipe of my system, so it's the same as when I first purchased it, and no, there is no warranty left on my computer.I've everything backed up that I want and need, and I've taken down notes of the drivers, the manufacturers, that sort of thing.I do own the Dell Reinstallation CD, with XP Home, Including SP1.I also own the Dell Tools System Software, and, Dell Resource cd's.I do not know if my computer will boot from the BIOS.From my understanding I need the cd to boot from the BIOS? Do I check to see that it does prior to putting in the restore cd, or do i simply put the cd in, and then choose this option and after that the restore cd will begin?

With my old Windows 98, if I simply put ".jpeg" in the top search line (with Local Hard drive for my choice of "look in"), the results would be hundreds of .jpeg files. And when I try it with XP there are only 8 .jpeg files listed.when I know there are hundreds on my computer? Apr 9, 2006Just reformated my computer, installed all critical windows updates, scanned for virus'/spyware, and updated all hardware drivers. When i try to set jpegs as wallpapers it takes an eternity to load them and causes the display properties window to hang, but bmp's load up instantly.. Jpegs work and load perfectly fine in other programs such as paint, photoshop though.All of this is after i have just reformated for like the 3rd time in 2 days to see if it was a installation problem, but i guess not. It would seem its a hardware issue but i can play games like oblivion at normal fps, aswell as other games.

I can open them when I use the right click drop down menu and select preview, then it will open in the viewer. I have ran Norton Antivirus, spybot, Ewido, adaware. The reason I ask is that if a piece of software works on Windows 2000 server, is it extremely likely that it will work on Windows 2000 professional too? Jun 22, 2005I am trying to do a system restore and my system runs it all but when all is done I get a message saying that no changes have been made to my system and that the system restore was unsuccessful. The reason I am trying to restore my system is because Photoshop is suddenly unable to save as a jpeg? It doesn't recognise the jpeg format when saving and saves as a Photoshop document. THen it wont recognise the file to open it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to no avail. Funnily enough photoshop elements has no problem with it.

However, when I stuck in the CD and selected "Install XP Pro," it told me "Windows XP Setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional to Microsoft Windows XP Professional."
So it will only let me do a clean install. Is this because I have an OEM CD meant for a new computer? I thought you could upgrade (rather than re-install) to XP from any genuine XP CD?

Aug 12, 2005I need to upgrade over 200 PC from 2000 to XP. Some are desktops and some are laptops. I need to do it with very little input from the users. I was thinking of using a email sent out that would ask them to do it at lunch or other sometime. I figure that it will take at least an hour to do the install etc, with no error. I plan on a test group to start with before I roll it out company wide.
