Download Video / Save Target As" It Only Saves It As A Html File
Sep 8, 2007
I used to be able to grab a video clip form the internet and save it to my computor. Now when I grab a video with a wmv extension and do a "save target as" it only saves it as a htm file and does not grab the video itself.
I routinely download the latest set of filters for my anti-spam program, and Windows routinely wants to save them in My Documents, by default. I ALAWYS save the file (filters.txt) to the following location (by Right-clicking the file):C:Documents and SettingsMickApplication DataMailWasherPro, Is there any way that that I can: Save this particular file to the abovementioned Path, by default? Without disturbing Windows current, Save In My Documents setting? I am using WinXP Professional SP3 (fully updated).
actually at my work place i'm trying to download some hindi mp3 music files but somehow it not working. as I'm trying to right click on the song link and by selecting 'save target as' its openning the dailog box to save it but at this point it trying to save as HTML documents instead of mp3 format.if i try manuaaly to change file extension from html to mp3 than i can not play this file as it gives error about class-file of media player.I checked on Internet explorer tools internet option and security tab and verfied download file is enabled.
When I right-click on files to download the 'save target as' option is not there... Its not grayed in, its just not there. It works on some sites but not most. The site says that I have to download doing that and there is no other way.
I recently installed Win XP with SP2. After this, I am not able to save files using the "Save Target As" option in the Right click menu. For files with extensions like .exe and .zip clicking on the link opens a window that asks if I want to run the program or Save. If I select Save, I am able to save the file. But for files like .pdf I am not able to save because clicking on the link opens the Acrobat Reader plug in and the file opens in the internet explorer. How do I save pdf files?
I recently had to reinstall everything following a virus which locked me out of my pc. However since then, if I try and download certain .wmv files with Internet Explorer, they will not play on Media Player 10. These files worked absolutely fine before the reboot. I tried downloading the same files with a p2p program and they work with no problems with Media Player. Is there something I can do to reconfigure the way explorer downloads things, as I really want to be able to do things as I did before. I'm pretty sure it's an IE problem rather than a codec because as mentioned, the files work just fine when I download them with a different method rather than 'Save Target As'.
when i tried to download mp3 in a site, i right clicked at the link and tried to click "Save target as" to download the file, but when the box just pop, the "Save target as" is not available..
I downloaded microsoft frontpage extensions resource zip file and accidentally sent the extracted files to desktop. (119 files) I did not save the file at download but just ran the zip file and the extracted files opened in desktop. I deleted the files from my desktop and recycle bin. Every time I start/reboot, these 119 files continue to open, cluttering my desktop. I need the formula/pathway to follow to get to the destination in regedit.exe hkey_current_user start up folder with instructions on how to delete these extracted files so they will stop opening to my desktop at start.
Last night i was trying to download a file and i cant -since my right click save target as inst working i keep getting this error message if i go to my desktop i can open the file fine so it must be something on this computer --IE is updated and content advisor is disable any thoughts ?
I am using bt broadband (yes i made that mistake ) and use the btyahoo browser but it is stopping me 'savetarget as' it comes up with an error saying this can not be downloaded. I was letting me do this last week but not this week.
After I updated some programs to their most recent versions (adobe flash player 10, java 6 update 11) all of a sudden the option 'save target as' just disappeared in my options when I right click on my mouse and for instance want to save a .doc or .pdf file I see online. I'm using Firefox 3.0.4, but the option is also not possible when I try to do this with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer (A related problem (I think) is that from that moment onwards I was also not able anymore to download doc and pdf files in Firefox that were sent to me on my gmail account. I could download these files when opening gmail in Google Chrome however.)How do i get my 'save target as' function back?
When I try to download a short video or the supposid missing file I get this message. C:DOCUME/`1OWNERLOCALS~1TEMPqrorw03.exe be as source file could not be read. I guess I really haven't the faintest idea what this is all about. I have to assume that I have a file missing.
I noticed this problem like a week ago. I tried to download and save some vids, but the windows that says the percent of your download just freezes. I thought it was a problem with the vid, but now I see it's the computer.Whatever I try to dowload it's the same problem. What can it be? It was fine before.
Is there a way to manually download all the updates that have been installed and save them for later? lets say Because I plan to use WINXP HOME SP2 for a long LONG time, and want to make sure they are available to me.OR I have a computer not hooked to the internet but still ofcourse want all the updates.
I've become unable to download and save files to my machines (Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SBS SP1). The download goes ahead, but at the point of writing the file to my local hard disk, I get the following error message, then the file is deleted!!!"Windows Security Warning Windows found that this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file."I wouldn't mind, but I haven't changed anything that would have enforced this, can't find any way of disabling / configuring this functionality and I trust the file and its source (a good example is the Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus software downloads!)
After capturing, the video halts every 2-3 second. The problem occurs both when editing, and in the saved video. I´ve tried saving and capturing in different formats
I can not launch 90% of my apps, word, excel, adaware, when I click on the program it launches, and I get the .exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Then it shuts down that program. I can not add any new favorites to my internet explorer, does the same thing. I can not download a file and save it, I can download a file and run it though, not always successfully. Pretty much the pc is becoming crippled I have run registryfix7 (had it installed) fixed what was listed, but no helpI have done a full virus scan and spyware scan with Windows LiveOneCare, nothing shows up.

i use firefox and i hover over a video in Internet, and a button used to appear saying "download this video" with the real logo. now the button doesn't show up. i'm only interested in downloading legal, non-copyrighted stuff, of course.

My computer has been ok until I downloaded an update version of my Video Card. Now it is very slow and it freezes up until I press Alt/Control/Del. Then I have to close a window. I will work then.
I am running into an issue when I do File Save As from Excel, Word, etc. The application hangs and I am forced to re-boot. Additionally, when I run Windows Explorer that hangs as well when 2x click on the C drive. Opening files is fine and saving(w/o save as) is fine.

When scanning an article and trying browse to choose the folderto save to the browse dialog box is completely blank is this likely to be and epson problem or windows.
Before this, I've never had a computer problem that I could not solve. This, it seems, is out of my league. I'll appreciate any help I get on this issue..
First of all, let me tell you how this problem started..
I had Windows XP, but wanted to switch to Vista. I've already had Windows Vista come with the computer, but had formatted the hard-drive and installed Windows XP so that my computer would work faster. A few days earlier, I decided to give Windows Vista another shot. I formatted my computer, and installed Vista.
After installing Vista, I could not boot up the computer. I was getting a weird error when when attempting to boot. I thought I might've done something wrong when installing it, so I formatted again, and re-installed Vista. Still, I got the same error. I decided to go back to Windows XP..
Installing Windows XP was not a problem, but..now it seems that any time I try to save a file (any kind of file), be it a small text file created in Notepad or downloading something from the internet.. my computer automatically restarts itself. I had re-installed the Windows XP again because I thought I might've done something to it. At first, I could save files. I installed the video card driver, and the audio driver with no problems.
Than after a while and installing some other software (Windows Live Messenger and Pokerstars), I started to get the same problem.
I don't know how to fix this, please help..
I've looked around the forums, and unchecked the Automatically Restart box when encountering an error. But it hasn't fixed the problem..
