Sep 1, 2008I have a spare computer that I use for editing my home videos. TV and VCR hooked up to a capture card, then I burn to a dvd. However, I recently replaced the mobo and cpu, using the same harddrive that was in the other setup without formatting the drive. Hardware all works correctly, but my video programs kept giving me error messages. I uninstalled all the programs and codecs, reinstalled after clean reboot, and the programs are functioning correctly again EXCEPT. After capturing the video and playing the movie back in Media Player, all movies, even ones that were on the harddrive previously, are UPSIDE DOWN.

Mar 9, 2010I've been searching for most parts of the net and the forums here and did install uninstall restore my notepad, paint and wordpad but nothing seems to work.When these files are opened, nothing seems to be a problem. But whenever you attempt to save by Ctrl+S, or the by clicking File>Save or File>Save As the program automatically closes. This has been a consistent behavior for the 3 softwares.I'm using Windows XP 64 bit OS and had no error messages of any sort except that these programs just close themselves when a save attempt is done.I did virus and malware scans by Avast, ESET Nod & Kaspersky and nothing was detected.Reinstalling isn't an option for me now as I don't have any optical drive... besides, this may be very hard for me but I'm willing to suffer for the sake of learning.

Jan 10, 2005A friend of mine is having a really hard time figuring out why her computer keeps freezing so I said I would ask you knowledgable people here. She hardly ever uses it and has almost no programs on it but just surfing the net or even poking around the desktop will freeze the computer. Nothing to do but reboot Ctrl-alt-del won't even work. She's tried spybot, adaware, hijack this, housecall etc and I checked it out myself. I'm sure there is nothing like that on her computer. So we can rule that out. She's installed a couple of RAM and HD testers all came back fine. She does have a firewire card installed and if she attempts to use it (for transferring movies) it will freeze for sure. This could be lack of RAM even though you only need 64MB (she has 256MB) as per the box requirements. Could the firewire be affecting everything else even when not in use? Could a windows file be missing? A setting somewhere perhaps? Hardware or software conflict?

Aug 20, 2005Recently my computer has started to freeze up or 'hang' (I think that's the right term). I use my computer for internet access almost exclusively, be it browsing, internet telephony, downloading stock data, or cleaning the fish at the poker tables (but more on the poker app in a second). I am using FireFox with tabbed browsing; everything will be normal then suddenly I won't be able to tab back and forth between open windows. Clicking on any icon on my computer brings about no response. The solution is always the same I click control alt delete and bring up the windows security dialog box. I click on Task Manager and nothing happens. THEN - I click on Task Manager a second time and the TM pops up. The weird thing is I don't have to do anything else. Task Manager shows all programs as running and then I simply close Task Manager and all programs are again functioning normally. Somehow the process of opening the TM clears the freeze-up. This is happening with all programs EXCEPT- my poker client, which doesn't freeze up at all - I can play poker or chess through the ICC BlitzIn client and there is no freeze-up. It is only when I am browsing, or using the Skype internet telephony client, that this happens, and I believe it is only when the browser is up. I have run complete Trend Micro Scans which discovered a few problems including asujuja.exe. I fixed all problems found at Trend Micro Housecall. I ran a bunch of other scans and cleaners that I have. I am going to do a defrag of my HD tonight. I downloaded the latest version of FireFox and installed it over top of the older version I had but this didn't work. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Why does the Task Manager clear this blockage and why must I always click on Task Manager TWICE to get it to work (this is the weirdest thing about the problem).

I tried to make the changes and got nervous about it. I wanted to back out but instead I clicked OK. Now my machine boots up to Window logo and stays there instead of showing the users list.

Mar 25, 2005I'm running Win XP Home - SP1 (all updates). When I shut down or reboot, the system hangs up for a long time. I sometimes have to attempt to shut it down a second time via Start/Turn Off Computer/Restart (or Shut Down). When I do Control/Alt/Delete to try to get the Task Manager it takes a long time to pop up. What do I need to do to find out what's hanging things up?

Though the HD lght stays solid, it is active and may be accessed via a networked computer but XP doesn't finish loading. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
Imported Video Footage Playing On Audio Line Not Video?
Sep 20, 2005I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player.When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference

Recently when I try to import video file into my application, my laptop, processing percentage goes up to 98%, and the application just freezes up. I also tried the Microsoft movie maker software and I get the same result. I was wondering if I need to reinstall the application or there is something that my laptop is missing.
