It gets to "Installing Devices" then goes to BSOD with: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP 0x0000000A (0x00000010, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8051AA58) I've swapped out the video card and tweaked every setting I can find in BIOS to no avail. There are no BIOS settings for cache or shadowing. Does anyone have any thought as to why XP won't load but 7 will?

View 6 Replies View Relatedmy friend give me his Gateway 610XL all in one PC to fix a few problems. one of them was internet explorer not showing up when called for, that was an easy fix; however, this next problem has to do with USB devices and it's giving me a bit of trouble. basically, any USB devices i connect to it, windows doesn't auto install or even try to auto install the drivers. no matter what i connect to it (mouse, keyboard, thumb drive). i can go into device manager and install the drivers manually just fine but i would like to fix the auto install feature for my friend cuz he's not that good with computers. i checked and made sure the following services are enabled:
plug and play
upnp
user mode driver framework
shell hardware detection
the problem persist even in safe mode. one thing i noticed is when i go to control panel and then hit add hardware, i get a message that says this: "you can only install one device at a time. when the other device installation is complete, try this wizard again" (some where along those lines). i get that message even with nothing connected to the USB ports. i'm guessing what ever this "other device" is, it hanging up pnp so how do i go about aborting that installation? i don't really see anything in the task bar that even suggest a driver installation is on the way. this is running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3 by that way.
My system just shuts down while trying to install xp home (sp1 ver). And I am forced to shut down during the install. The install will get to the installing devices graphical user interface and quit at the 34 minute mark.Then upon reboot it will check the disk and other parameters and they check out ok, so... hence xp will resume the setup automatically and the process just repeats itself over and over and stall out at the 34 minute mark. Is there a reason for this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to repair Windows, everything goes fine up till this point, where half-way through the "Installing devices" stage... nothing seems to happen, no progress. The setup doesn't hang or freeze, it seems to be working just fine except that nothing happens, it does not complete this part, just sits there. I've even left it for an hour and even then no progress.However, if I commence a new setup, a new installation, this problem does not occur and the setup completes successfully.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to reinstall windows xp home editon because my computer was infected with a virus that could not be deleted even after trying norotn and mcafee. The CD-Rom drives were deleted from the virus,so I had to transfer the xp cd files from one computer to the infected computer through a direct transfer cable During the xp installation, the computer hung and showed a black screen when installing the devices. Now everytime I start the computer up it goes straght into setup and shows a black screen.The CD-Rom drives do not work pressing delete during start-up will not access the BIOS.It seems I cannot flash the BIOS.How do I cancel the xp setup?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have lost my sound. The sounds icon in control panel say " no audio devices" AND the sound tab shows all listed devices as working porperly. I have deleted an sound object that allows it in device manager and allowed XP to load wht it will. I still have no sound. I checked for sound services in services and they are started as well.If I load Knoppix and test, my sounds work so I am assumming it is not a hardware problem.

Just to let you know i have not installed anything new hardware or software so im clueless to what has happen here. I run AVG for my virus scanner and add-aware with Spybot serch and destroy on a regular basis and i got nothing.
When i could get it to run correctly i got hijack this to check and it found nothing wrong.

When im using my computer, suddenly the screen turns blue and and error comes saying
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Once the error comes, the only thing i can do is restart my computer.

ok my problem. at random times i get blue screen. sometimes blank and sometimes error codes. one error code i took a picture of on my phone says irql_not_less_or_equal top: 0x000000000000a then does a physical memory dump. i think this is common with alot of blue screen errors although im not to sure. there is no pattern to this at all. it happens at total random times. sometimes when running cpu for awhile and sometimes right at rebot before windows. usually when it does happen it happens alot. and when it dosnt happen it dosnt do it at all untill next rebot. when it does happen and i rebot i hear my hard drive click when it comes to the S.M.A.R.T. capable but disabled part. made me think i had a bad hard drive. so i tried reinstalling windows to make some partitions. when i boot totaly from xp cd i get blue screen after it loads Setup files and says Setup is loading windows. get this everytime. once i have got to where it states Press enter to install windows xp but my cpu froze. so i tried installing windows onto my rather new 100 gig hd that i have never had any problems with and the exact thing happens. Things i have done to try and resolve this issue other than what i stated above are changing ide cables to new and taking out 1 stick of ram at a time to see if maby one of them could have gone bad. still same results.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been having BSODs since I built my system nine months ago, and I'm at a complete loss as to what's wrong. Just recently I RMA'd my motherboard as a last-ditch attempt at a fix because I couldn't find anything wrong. Every blue screen is an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. My device drivers are all up to date. My BIOS is up to date. I've run about 20 memtests and all come back clean. I've run diagnostics on my hard drives and all come back clean.
I got my motherboard back from the manufacturer in the beginning of December. My first blue screen after that was yesterday, after I used Registry Booster to clean my registry. I restored the files since I'd hoped that I'd removed something accidentally. I just received a second one about a half hour ago. I reset, and the system hung when Windows was trying to load. I reset again, got the message that Windows didn't start normally and the system hung at the 27 second countdown to choose how to load Windows. I did a hard shut down, booted, and it appeared to boot normally. .........
I have been looking ever where for an answer to this. Once in a while I get a BSOD it says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0X0000000A (0X00000000, 0X000000FF, 0X000000, 0X806E2EA0) I am not to sure what to do about this. View 2 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine is having a really hard time figuring out why her computer keeps freezing so I said I would ask you knowledgable people here. She hardly ever uses it and has almost no programs on it but just surfing the net or even poking around the desktop will freeze the computer. Nothing to do but reboot Ctrl-alt-del won't even work. She's tried spybot, adaware, hijack this, housecall etc and I checked it out myself. I'm sure there is nothing like that on her computer. So we can rule that out. She's installed a couple of RAM and HD testers all came back fine. She does have a firewire card installed and if she attempts to use it (for transferring movies) it will freeze for sure. This could be lack of RAM even though you only need 64MB (she has 256MB) as per the box requirements. Could the firewire be affecting everything else even when not in use? Could a windows file be missing? A setting somewhere perhaps? Hardware or software conflict?
View 12 Replies View RelatedRecently my computer has started to freeze up or 'hang' (I think that's the right term). I use my computer for internet access almost exclusively, be it browsing, internet telephony, downloading stock data, or cleaning the fish at the poker tables (but more on the poker app in a second). I am using FireFox with tabbed browsing; everything will be normal then suddenly I won't be able to tab back and forth between open windows. Clicking on any icon on my computer brings about no response. The solution is always the same I click control alt delete and bring up the windows security dialog box. I click on Task Manager and nothing happens. THEN - I click on Task Manager a second time and the TM pops up. The weird thing is I don't have to do anything else. Task Manager shows all programs as running and then I simply close Task Manager and all programs are again functioning normally. Somehow the process of opening the TM clears the freeze-up. This is happening with all programs EXCEPT- my poker client, which doesn't freeze up at all - I can play poker or chess through the ICC BlitzIn client and there is no freeze-up. It is only when I am browsing, or using the Skype internet telephony client, that this happens, and I believe it is only when the browser is up. I have run complete Trend Micro Scans which discovered a few problems including asujuja.exe. I fixed all problems found at Trend Micro Housecall. I ran a bunch of other scans and cleaners that I have. I am going to do a defrag of my HD tonight. I downloaded the latest version of FireFox and installed it over top of the older version I had but this didn't work. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Why does the Task Manager clear this blockage and why must I always click on Task Manager TWICE to get it to work (this is the weirdest thing about the problem).

I tried to make the changes and got nervous about it. I wanted to back out but instead I clicked OK. Now my machine boots up to Window logo and stays there instead of showing the users list.

I'm running Win XP Home - SP1 (all updates). When I shut down or reboot, the system hangs up for a long time. I sometimes have to attempt to shut it down a second time via Start/Turn Off Computer/Restart (or Shut Down). When I do Control/Alt/Delete to try to get the Task Manager it takes a long time to pop up. What do I need to do to find out what's hanging things up?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI start computer and during windows xp logo booting screens the monitor will go blank (orange light by monitor power button) and keyboards lights will turn off numlock caps and scroll lock will not turn them back on and the little light on my wireless usb mouse reciever goes out. however the pc front lights disc tray and network lights remain on and fan is still going. but sometimes i do manage to get passed the startup (10% of the time) and into windows for about 10-30 minutes before the same blank screen freeze up happens. i know its not totally a videocard monitor issue because not just the monitor goes blank everything stops responding......

Win XP-SP2 from Tiger/OEM version. Did the install/format Hd, install finishes, restarts and does a particial boot -- Win XP main screen comes on, then screen flashes over to a poor quality XP main screen, and halts. Restart in Safe Mode, boot starts but when main screen should appear, horiz. lines and blue text type symbols, as if Geforce video card not being functional.

In a nut shell:My XPSP1 machine makes it to my desktop wallpaper and then hangs. No icons or task bar or start button. Though the HD lght stays solid, it is active and may be accessed via a networked computer but XP doesn't finish loading. Safe mode is no different except I see a blank screen instead of wallpaper Though I can browse the XP CD through Task manager, nothing will run and attempts to run any file will return a NO PROGRAM ASSOCIATED error The PC will not boot from or even try to start up the XP CD. (just spins up) The six XP startup diskettes downloaded from MS hangs up here or there every time and fails to boot.
