It seems every time I click into my mail, games or anything, I get a dialogue box that says cant find the server but it still goes to that site. Just want to have it quit doing that
View 1 RepliesYou can easily create an icon on your desktop that allows you to compose and sand a mail by double clicking on it without opening Outlook Express.1- Find a free space on your desktop and right click on it on New -> Shortcut2- Enter in the space 'mailto:' (w/out quotes)3- Press 'Next' button.4- Enter in the space a name for the icon (i use 'mail')5- Click 'finish'.That's it.

Any help on how to solve this? I tried on a window tools -> directory options -> file types -> Drive -> advanced but I can not remove or edit those action on the list. I dont' know why this so much, nor how to fix the problem. I get the message "can't find server", with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then have to log off and reboot, which costs me money as I use my computer in my small business. This is very frustrating and I need to know how to fix the problem. I recently moved to an apartment from a house and I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. maybe all the signals in an apartment setting are crossing or something.

Option is to click on OK, but right after message appears it will open the page and I can open all the other net links normally, but not internal pages until message is gone. Somebody told me its a bug in Windows where you clicked only once, but Windows think you have double clicked.

Right-click databases -> Restore Database
I mark 'from device', click the '...' button & select 'File' in the dropdown, then brows to the file itself. Under 'select the backup sets to restore' I check the only checkbox there, then in the 'To Database' I select the name of the database in the file (a new DB name appears there as you select the file).
XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it

This is only SOME exe's. Particularly, older programs. Word, excel, WordPerfect all work. Older apps don't.
I've tried the exe fixes on dougknox.com site and kelly's corner XP fix.
I am currently working on a project and I am in need of a way to run applications off of a central server from an XP client. The applications that need to be run are from the Microsoft Office package. This is for a school project, if more information is needed I can try to provide it

Just recently when closing down a dialogue box appears with the text: "End Program - sprtmcd.exe" This goes through a little process then I select the "End Now" option and the computer closes down. This has to be done every time now. Everything else seems to be functioning normally as far as I can tell.

Instead a Blank Dialogue box with with a red circleand white cross appears with yes or no buttons which both log you off back to the dialogur screen.Booted into safemode with command promp and with network support and thistime a single OK button appears again logging you off. Howevever I can get into ordinary safe mode.

Files and icons and what-have-you, were all gone, with the exception of a small dialogue box in the middle of the screen. All it says is "ok" and there is an "ok" button at the bottom, and the red "x" at the top. I've clicked both buttons several times, but nothing has happened. I'm scared to unplug the computer, or restart it or anything, because I don't know what it will do.

Int Explorer, Outlook Express, windows, Skype etc. However - once a program finally opens it generaly works at full speed!!!I also get from time to time the message - (The memory could not be written. )In addition the Disc clean up program will not "clean up" - it just hangs there after starting for ever.Looked for a virus through AVG, and defragged, also took out programs not used often etc. Installed anti "Spy Bot" - which found 6 "bad" products - but won't / can't remove them.

The recovery was successful.I would say this message appears 90% of the time, and so far my computer runs fine. I should also say that it started appearing after I installed NortonAV 2006 and updated Windows with SP2. I have since uninstalled Norton, but it still appears.

When the PC has been on a while, i press Start, Turn Off computer, the dialogue box does not appear and the hourglass symbol appears, I can still access Task Manager, the graph still unfolds and the CPU usage shows 1 or 2 %. After several minutes there is a beep from the pc, and the dialogue box opens, but if I press it, it starts the process again. I have to press the on/off button to shut down. Does not seem to happen if the pc has only been on a few moments.

Paste url > next > named it b&b, clicked finish, thought I was done. and clicks on the link. It promptly opens up the printer dialogue box. That was in Firefox, our default browser. Tried it in IE, same thing. All other icons work fine. Only when I create an internet shortcut do I get this issue, and I don't even know how to begin to google for it.

1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?
On XP Pro I used to have it set up so that when I opened or saved a file(regardless of the program being used) it would show the folder list on the left side of the open/save file window (like in Windows Explorer when you do a folder list in the left pane). Now, it only shows certain groupings like My Documents, My Computer, My Network, etc. in the left pane. How do I get folders back?

Is it possible I have some type of virus that is causing this multi-clicking of the mouse when I only click once. I did a full system scan with Norton and nothing is found.
