Internet Shortcuts Open Print Dialogue Box?

copied the url, desktop > right click > properties > new > shortcut which brings up the new shortcut box. Paste url > next > named it b&b, clicked finish, thought I was done. and clicks on the link. It promptly opens up the printer dialogue box. That was in Firefox, our default browser. Tried it in IE, same thing. All other icons work fine. Only when I create an internet shortcut do I get this issue, and I don't even know how to begin to google for it.

On XP Pro I used to have it set up so that when I opened or saved a file(regardless of the program being used) it would show the folder list on the left side of the open/save file window (like in Windows Explorer when you do a folder list in the left pane). Now, it only shows certain groupings like My Documents, My Computer, My Network, etc. in the left pane. How do I get folders back?

I'd like to permanently set my open and save file dialogue boxes to display thumbnails instead of the usual list display but can't find any way to do this (the folder options setting doesn't appear to affect this aspect of windows XP).

A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should

As soon as I put an internet shortcut on my desktop, sometimes I can open the website from the icon & sometimes it starts to open & then just hangs.Sometimes when I put a shortcut on the desktop I can open it a few times with no problem & then it will never work again. I can open all other shortcuts on my desktop, its just internet shortcuts that I have a problem with. I am running windows XP & useing IE on a Dell laptop. I have no other problems at all with anything & this has been going on for years. It almost seems like it is just a setting, but I just can not find a solution.

first with usb harddrive, then with C drive, prompting me to select a program in "Open with" dialogue box. Some of the solutions I read on the net were too technical for me, for fear of creating myself further problems. Through good luck I needed to attach a file to an email. I selected attach, then browse, and I decided to see what would happen if I selected My Computer, then C drive in that dialogue box. I did this and C drive information was displayed. Later when I was out of the mail account, I tried My Computer and C drive again and it worked fine.

Without going through regedit, is there a way to add a network drive or some other shortcut on the left pane of the open/save dialog box? See the red circled area in the image below. I'm using WinXP SP4 with Windowblinds installed. What about rearranging the order the icons already appear?

I have Win XP Home with SP#3.My wife and i each use individual accts, user ids etc.For no reason I can understand suddenly when i click on one of my desktop shortcuts to open a website...e.g. Facebook, Yahoo etc..instead of automatically opening the specific site I get the box which asks which program i want to use to open the site.It is usally always Int.Ex. and at the bottom of the box there is a checkbox to indicate that when you open that same site in the future it should always be opened using IE, but when i go to open the site again i have to again each time indicate i want to use IE to open it. when I choose "print" it takes a long time for the printer info window to open. then it takes even longer to choose and activate any further command. whether I want to choose another printer I have installed or even if I simply click "ok" for it to print the <ocument. every step is very slow, the pc almost looks, feels frozen. eventually printing starts and the printer prints just fine.

Having trouble printing from Internet Explorer 6.0 and Outlook Express 6.0. Word and Acrobat Reader are printing fine. I can also cut and paste from IE or OE to Word and print, but that become a little annoying and time-consuming. When I try to print I do get the print menu, but when I clip on "Print" I don't get any error messages - just. nothing. Also, the print icon doesn't come up or even flash.

here's my first problem I can't fix, Heres what I've tried so far:I've reinstalling my Printer, and it still doesnt print I've tried going into Internet Options and sorting out the sites and that..When I try to print from the internet, or even different programs, I get that "Send Error report" thing, and after that it closes. I often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.

I write a file in Word and then save it.Before I print it I usually go into Print Preview just to check things out.This time however it just showed me a blank box and the printer would not print.Everything was OK for a complete day and then the problem happened again - blank preview and no printing. This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. I then copied it onto a floppy, put the floppy in my friends PC - same result as before

I previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

When my computer was turned on this morning the desktop shortcuts on my desktop will not open any programs. Non shortcuts such as my computer or outlook express open normally. I have recreated all shortcuts and the new shortcuts still won't open. I have tried the obvious of restarting the computer and I have run my antivirus programs (symantec,spy bot and adaware) w/o anything being found. Can any one give me any ideas of what may fix this issue?

my windows is acting like it has no registry i can't access system restore, reg edit, etc. or and has icons only on the shortcuts which are defult like computer network bin etc. The files eg word doc or a pdf can been seen with the appropriate program. I can work programs like normal as i am using firefox, IE ain't working but i can acces computer which is IE . This has happened once before but i can't understand why i had karpersky and adware updated both times but didn't stop it. b4 it happened alot quicker but this time it took its time.

All worked as normal Printer icon would print automatically with default print settings; File -Print would bring up print properties dialogue box to select options.Unhooked printer from laptop. Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?

I have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.
