View 5 RepliesI have a Dell Power Edge server with a C: drive that is too small. The RAID array is about 40GB but only 9 GB was given for the C: drive and it has run out of space so I cannot install service packs, extra software, etc. The remaining space is an F: drive with the "data" on it. What method should I use to extend the partition, I am thinking of just moving all of the F: drive to an external hard drive and then deleting the F: drive and trying to extend the partition in Windows Disk Manager, but I wonder if that will even work, or if there is a better tool out there to use to manage these partitions. I would like to preserve the Windows installation and everything on the C: drive if at all possible. I dont care if I have an F: drive, if I can just get a big enough C: drive, that will be fine.

Just don't really want to configure the entire Lan from workgroup to Domain.

I removed the domain name to it and now I have not been able log back into the computer, even as the administrator and the guest is locked out (not that I can do much with the guest log-in). Is there any way that I can get back into the computer.

I seem to be very close to success except for this error message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure a 2000 server in an active directory domain environment and have a simple question.
I have several accounts and would like to configure them to be administrators on the local workstations, but not a domain admin. I can't quite figure this out. It'd be nice to be able to do this all from the server. I'm assuming it's a domain policy.
The procedure is as follows:
Right-click databases -> Restore Database
I mark 'from device', click the '...' button & select 'File' in the dropdown, then brows to the file itself. Under 'select the backup sets to restore' I check the only checkbox there, then in the 'To Database' I select the name of the database in the file (a new DB name appears there as you select the file).
XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it

1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?

Laptop is running Windows XP Professional SP2. Server is tunning SBS 4.5 and
Windows NT 4.0. I have two locations with two different gateway IP
Addresses. I have connected to each server by changing the domain and IP
address. Received messsage "welcome to _____ domain". I connect to network,
see all the computers, but can not "map" my drive back to the main server in
the other location.I did turn off the windows firewall and
made sure all my WINS, etc. was correct. I can not ping the server in the
other location. I can ping the server I am currently connected to, and am
supposed to be able (can on 2000) to map a drive back to our other office.
ran a Repair of windows XP on a machine that was fully updated and working fine. When it finished it says that the copy of windows is not genuine and it needs to be activated. So it tries to activate says there is a problem with the RPC Server. (0x000006ba) and then BSOD's. Safe mode loads fine. it still says the copy of windows is not genuine and cannot start the services to try and get it activated. I have tried running the repair again and SFC cannot run without the RPC Service so thats not an option.

I wrote down the key and wonder if I can reactivate a reinstall using the same key. For example, my XP machine has two accounts: anthony and charlene. Let's say charlene is currently physically at the xp machine and logged into her account. I login to Server B and go to setup a share, Server B shows the user as Disabled in the permissions.
But Server A where the active directory is shows it as enabled and the network allows the user to login.
It seems to be just a display bug. Or is it something more?

Would it cause any harm or malfunction (are there other items this non-server usage needs that are dependent)?
