View 6 Replies View RelatedBooted my pc up this morning as normal, but my sound had just disapeared for some strange reason.
Windows sounds seem to have disapeared, i`ve been troubleshooting this much of the day now........
what i have is the following,
Audigy 2 ZS
Onboard Nvidia Sound
to trouble shoot i did the following........
Checked my control panel sounds, it was displaying no device, were it normally shows the Audigy 2
i downloaded the drivers again for the audigy 2
I decided to power off my computer and change the PCI slot, when windows booted back up i re-installed the audigy 2 drivers, it then asked to re-boot again which i did, still it seemed to install ok at the time, it`s still just beeping.
I have a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop equiped with XP Professional. Attached to it is a small Cambridge Soundworks speaker system that has worked perfectly until now... Suddenly no more audio from this system, except for the computer inside speakers that is working just fine. I have checked all the connections (speakers and woofer). I have been doing a lot of "cleaning" lately - due to the fact that my computer has been very slow... I used CCleaner, WinUtilities and Premium Booster. My anti virus is AVG.

I've been to control panel>sounds and multimedia and the area to checkmark to show it is grayed out. Tried the replace the sndvol thing from the cd, but didn't help. Also, reinstalled the software for my card.

Okay so I usually leave my computer on all the time. I went to bed and when I got up it was off and couldn't get it to turn on. So I assumed it might be the power supply so I went and bought a new one from stamples. He turned on for maybe 5 seconds then turned off. so I took it back thinking maybe I didn't have enough watts. The higher watts didn't doanything. I am lost without my computer can anyone help? I have Win XP..Could it be the fan? Even though the fan worked when i plugged in first PS...Second didnt do anything. Could it be something to do with motherboard?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer a couple years back. It came preinstalled with Windows ME. Once XP came out, I bought the upgrade. When XP Pro came out, I bought that upgrade. Now, I am trying to use Server 2003 just to see how my comp will do. See, I want my speakers and microphone to work. The only problem is that they are built into the moniter. Everything worked with the speakers and microphone on all my previouse OSs. But now, on Server 2003, nothing will work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded some windows updates but not all of them installed. When I go to Turn Off Computer, the "Turn Off" button has changed, indicating that when I hit it, it will install the updates. There's also a field I can click which will Turn Off without installing the updates. When I click the Turn Off buttion, it attempts to install two updates. It doesn't appear to be successful. Every time I Turn Off Computer it apparently tries to install the same two updates. I can reboot and do this over and over and they don't "take".There's nothing in Event Viewer to indicate what's going on. I couldn't find any installation logs though I'm not sure where to look.

I need a way to get my PC to turn on after 5 minutes if it's turned off accidentally. I have an FTP server running, and everything works once it's turned on ie it's configured to work upon startup, but the problem is, it's in my office, and people keep turning it off. How annoying. How can I get it to turn back on if anyone turns it off.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy XP SP2 is not detecting any new printer attached. Both parallel and USB ports are not being detected. When I connect the printer and reboot, its like nothing at all has happened. The PC sits there finished booting, calm and quiet. They were being detected and installed some time ago. I suspect it might be a window corruption.. or some registry problem. Is there any way to refresh the windows registery so that it will start picking up printers again? Other devices like memory stick, external hard disk etc. are being picked up and working fine with USB

Its taking up to five minutes to access pages or email. I am already connected !! I noticed that as soon as I execute send/recieve the CPU shoots up to 100% and stays there. When the CPU drops it connects. After the initial tedium things work OK until I log off or restart the laptop. I am currently in a remote location and have to use dial up. However the office PC seems to connect without these symptons.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I was bored today and began creating a old Pentium 4 System out of old PC parts around the house. Now, I have assembled everything and have tested all the parts and all are working fine, However when I go to install Windows XP on the machine it will not detect the Hard Drive (On the Partition Screen). Now I thought it may be a hard drive problem so I connected the hard drive up to my current PC and ran the XP Installation fine. However, Now when I try to boot the XP I installed on the hard drive off of my other system it will get to the splash screen and restart, so I turned off automatic restart on system failure and I get the 0x0000007B Stop error.
So I retried the XP installation on the system again, got to the Partition and Hard Drive selection screen and still no Hard Drive to be seen, I plugged in a USB and it detected it fine.I have tried booting in safe mode & every option under F8, However it just restarts on the XP splash screen, And as I said the hard drive seems fine as it comes up in bios and my main PC ran it fine, So I'm beginning to think that i'm in need of my motherboards SATA Drivers or something.
i'm running win xp pro...i got a couple of viruses and need to turn off system restore! i went to try to turn it off and it wont give me the option of doing so!something about group policy? I never turned that on ! how do you turn off system restore like this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIve recently had this problem with this vundo strain of trojans and tis located in my system volume information folder.. So i did a little researching and figured out that no virus remover will be able to remove it since windows wouldn't allow me to delete or remove it in the first place. Thus the alternate method being the turning off of the system restore function and thereby deleting all system restore points. Although i came across a roadblock in that even though i am the administrator on my computer i am unable to check or uncheck the turn of system restore option in the system restore tab in the properties of My Computer.
