Jan 13, 2009Okay so I usually leave my computer on all the time. I went to bed and when I got up it was off and couldn't get it to turn on. So I assumed it might be the power supply so I went and bought a new one from stamples. He turned on for maybe 5 seconds then turned off. so I took it back thinking maybe I didn't have enough watts. The higher watts didn't doanything. I am lost without my computer can anyone help? I have Win XP..Could it be the fan? Even though the fan worked when i plugged in first PS...Second didnt do anything. Could it be something to do with motherboard?

Can anyone tell me what to do.I changed out his hard drive with mine and it does nothing. just posts and goes to a black screen instead of trying to boot and blue screening as it usually do when you change hardrives between two computers.Changed the Ide cables no luck.

Apr 6, 2007I downloaded some windows updates but not all of them installed. When I go to Turn Off Computer, the "Turn Off" button has changed, indicating that when I hit it, it will install the updates. There's also a field I can click which will Turn Off without installing the updates. When I click the Turn Off buttion, it attempts to install two updates. It doesn't appear to be successful. Every time I Turn Off Computer it apparently tries to install the same two updates. I can reboot and do this over and over and they don't "take".There's nothing in Event Viewer to indicate what's going on. I couldn't find any installation logs though I'm not sure where to look.

System Turn On Automatically
Jul 28, 2008I need a way to get my PC to turn on after 5 minutes if it's turned off accidentally. I have an FTP server running, and everything works once it's turned on ie it's configured to work upon startup, but the problem is, it's in my office, and people keep turning it off. How annoying. How can I get it to turn back on if anyone turns it off.

Feb 20, 2008I have an issue with a Dell bluetooth mouse not connecting. The laptop is a Dell Vostro 1500 (brand new) running XP Pro SP2. The bluetooth keyboard is discovered and connects just fine.I go into the bluetooth configuration and "Find Bluetooth Devices", it shows the "Dell BT Mouse". If I right click and choose "Connect Device" it searches, finds it and shows a dialog box that says "Connection with "Dell BT Mouse" has been established successfully. To confirm that the correct mouse is being connected, please use it to click the button." But the bluetooth mouse doesn't respond. I cannot click on the "Click here" button.I replaced the batteries with fresh ones, tried updating the drivers, get a message "This device cannot start (Code 10). Tried deleting from Device Manager and restarting laptop and trying all of the above all over again.

Aug 19, 2009I shut off the computer and turning it back on couldn't boot up windows. It gave the windows wasn't shut down properly and I tried the normal restart option and it would just give a black screen with a blinking _ and then nothing happens. Tried loading in safe mode but it gets to mup.sys then "Press Esc to cancel SPTD.sys" flashes below and whether I press Esc or let it be, nothing happens after that.
I tried popping in the windows xp disc that came with the laptop, boot from disc, it starts up but then after loading everything, it then says "Windows is starting up" the disc stops spinning then nothing happens. I tried popping in a windows vista disc and it says "Windows is loading files" with a progress bar, when it fills up, I get stuck with a blank black screen the disc stops spinning and then nothing happens.
