I need your help. My EpoX motherboard sent me a new replacement MoBo. I've assembled
and returned everything and including my old BIOS setting. PC bootup win-xp ok BUT it
will not run continuously because hard drive LED stop. All program just stop
functioning after few minute of running. Cold boot has no effect except to Reset and
always did checking files on all drives. I deleted one Trojan Horse virus on popup
warning BUT couldn't completely scan the whole hard drive because AV program stop also.
I also tried in Safe Mode to clean-up AV, Spyware & Malware BUT not successful because
it stop also.
i just installed windows XP (with sp1, or maybe not even that) i havnt hooked the computer up to the net yet, but after i installed my Nvidia drivers that came with the mother board, the windows Boot screen freezes and only works on safe mode till i uninstall those drivers. could this be a problem because i havnt downloaded the service packs from the net yet?
I have a problem that I just can't figure out. I 'll be on the internet, and when I click on a link(not every time), the page that I'm on just freezes. My mouse will indicate that it's busy, but it just stays like that. I first thought it was Spyware Terminator, so I uninstalled it. But to no avail. It did it again. Now remember, it's not every time. I keep a copy of my important files on an external drive, so reinstalling windows is nothing more that a pain in the behind. Which is what I did. I have an oem vesion of Windows MCE, which I've never had any problems with before. So here I am, thinking that I've taking care of the problem, when you guessed it, it did it again. And this is with barely anything installed, because I uninstall almost everything that MCE comes with. And this is where I'm at. I just can't figure out what's causing this to happen. I 've been coming to TSG almost every day for a very long time, because I really learn a lot and enjoy reading the many posts, and the members who respond to them. I didn't include a copy of Hijack this because it did it on a fresh install.
It all started when a friend gave me a 4 port USB Hub come clock and cup warmer!!! which I plugged into my pc. I plugged my printer into it, when I switched off the printer the system crashed to a BSOD. On reboot, as I remember, it came up with a splash screen I have never seen before (ASUS I think) then a BIOS set up page! I left the settings as they were and clicked ok, I think it was set to 700mhz. Since then it has been going to BSOD every time I switch off, or when I play Tiger Woods 2006 and go to save or move on to the next level of the game. It recently rebooted with the BIOS set up again which I changed to 933mhz hoping it was just that causing the problem!! Also when it reboots I get the voice telling me it has gone thru POST and booting from operating system. I have recorded stop errors from the last two crashes if it helps. recently when having Internet Explorer open in the background, clicking on the desktop forces my cursor to change to that horrible hour glass for about 20-30 seconds, then I get an error message saying "DrWatson postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and must close". I then proceed to click send error report. It sends then my computer freezes up and thats that. I have to manually restart it. This has only happened recently and is becoming quite tedious. And also it does the same thing if I click dont send... I know that DrWatson has something to do with saving files or recording the script errors before the computer crashes (i think :s ) but thats where it gets too complicated for me. It crashed on me only a few hours ago
Can anyone advise me please? XP crashes and restarts the PC from the beginning as soon as it reaches the point where the Windows XP desktop would normally appear. Trying to boot in Safe Mode provokes the same behaviour at the same point in the boot sequence ... howver, swapping the HDD for a drive with Windows 98SE loaded onto it allows me to boot up and run OK under that OS, so I'm fairly sure that it's an XP fault (virus maybe). AVG7 didn't bark before this happened, and ZoneAlarm didn't report anything either.
Lately, my XP has been freezing when I try to save pictures off the web. I never had this problem before. I tried using different folders in ''My Pictures'' and desktop but the result is the same. When I use Task Manager to view the performance, CPU usage shoots up to 100% while trying to save and doesn't come down. I should say that I have been using IE 7.0 beta for almost 3 months but it never gave me a problem before. I do not detect any other problems with the computer and am able to surf the net same as before. I just can't save the pictures.
my curser frozen and now i can't login on user screen? I shut computer down and restarted it but still won't move!! what do I do? My computer is windowsxp home edition/microsoft?
Ok I used to have ubuntu and xp partitioned to seperate drives on a single harddrive. I no longer wanted ubuntu so I ran my xp cd, deleted the ubuntu partition, and was left with half my drive(74gb) as unallocated space. So now i needed to figure out how to get that unallocated space back onto the xp partition. I didn't realize that you couldn't add unallocated space back to the xp partition with the xp boot cd. But i now know how to fix that problem. (Partition magic or whatever its called) Now when I turn on my computer without booting from the xp cd, it goes to the setup screen and says "The setup is being restarted". Then the screen goes completely black except for my mouse. Nothing else happens so I have to restart. When I boot with the CD I get the windows setup screen. It gives me 3 options: Set up Windows XP now Repair Windows XP installation using Recovery Console and Exit setup without installing Windows XP I tried figuring out the recovery console just by using the help command, but no luck there. I did find out that my xp partition still is fine and has everything that it did before. But i just can't get it to start up.
my computer take about 10 minutes to load. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the user screen, and another 5 from there. This computer uaully would boot in around 1 min.
I looked at past beeping problems on C-Net and also on Google but I can't find the situation I have. Once exactly at 3 minute intervals my computer gives a short (1 second) beep. Everything works fine so at first I ignored it but I know something is wrong and if possible I would like to fix it before I have a disaster. My Bios is Phoenix and when I checked beep codes there is nothing listed for 1 beep every 3 seconds. My HDD temp is 100 degrees F which is normal for my computer. I would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas which might explain and cure this beep. My profile lists computer info if needed.
Hello All, this is my first time here and I have a big problem. Last weekend, my computer began acting very slow, etc. Not too long after, the computer began to reboot itself about every 20 minutes without warning. It would just suddenly reboot, as if I'd hit the reset button. This obviously made me suspect it was a virus infection, so I restarted in Safe Mode and ran AVG. It gave me results and I hit the "Heal" button, deleting the entries.I assumed this was the end of it, but as soon as I restarted, the 20 minute reboots began to occur again. For the past few days, I've been trying to find out exactly what is wrong, but have been unable to do so. When I restart in normal mode, a message appears that says "System Has Recovered from a Serious Error". I'm hoping that you'll be able to help me out because I REALLY need that computer right now.
Windows XP pro and now every 5mins or so the system will just lock up and I can not do anything. I dont have much running when it happened and its only started happening these last couple of days. Its not overheating either. Its strange thou, when the computer locks up it seems like it hasn't, like msn will keep poping up with people and winamp still plays music, I just can't do anything.
I havent a clue what the problem can be. I went downstairs for 5-10 minutes after recently starting up my pc came back to the pc completely shut off. It seems to do it either sporadically when im away from it or using it for long periods of time. I recently installed a brand new power supply Ultra 400 watts ATX power supply. It seems to be getting worse with time. Im currently running disk defragmenter hoping this issue can be resolved soon. I have a bad feeling it may be my motherboard
When I logon to the computer I keep getting a windows error message. I keep clicking on OK and it does not come right back but after a couple of minutes or even a couple of hours it comes back. Listed is the error message that I keep getting.
A friend gave me her Compac Presario 2100 to wipe clean to be sold.I reformatted the hard drive and now the computer will not boot. The machine runs for about 15 seconds and dies. Running XP Home.
I am not sure what the problem is. I have restarted the computer at least 10 times in the last 2 days. I never restart my computer. Its a newer gatway, well just over a year old. IT freezes up all the time. When you run your mouse over something it doesnt tell you what it is.
windows xp. when i go on an online course sometimes but not all the time the cpu will run at 100%. I have had a look in task manager and under process(es) under cpu it tells me that runa5w32.exe is running at 100%........this will last for 10 minutes or so then it will drop to a normal 5%, where i can then carry on with my course with out any problems. this also happens alot when i even start the computer up, when i am just on the desk top it will run at 100% for 10 minutes or so, and that come's down to svchost.exe
I have 3 svchost.exe.....1 svchost .exe network service.....and 1 local service. AS i say this doe's not happen every time but it can be a pain some times as i carn't do much with either off these when one of them is running at 100%. just thought i would post to see if there is anything i could do.
About every five minutes or so we get a pop up for our hp 1300 all in one. The main box pop up is as if we just installed new software for a printer, which of course we have not, and then a box pops up that has 1300 trb in the header and then says windows is configuring, and then another box pops up that says 1300 help in the header and then says it is also configuring. Nothing will print and we have one doc in que that we cannot cancel.
After Windows installed, the hardisk keep working for about 5 minutes.For those first 5 minutes, the computer is very slow and after that thing become OK. 1- Is this normal.
I am connected to the internet on a t1 line at work.I go on the internet & everything is fine.After a few minutes it quits on me.I get the message "page cannot be displayed"I have to reboot to get going again.
I believe it must be a problem i have with the internet. Every time i connect it seems to work fine for a few minutes then cuts off. IT takes approx a few minutes for it to start working again. It is anyone guess how long it works for before the same thing happens again. This is getting very frustrating now and i don't know what to do.I have 1GB of RAM, 160GB HD and a Pentium 4 Processor.
Im running Windows XP. I've encountered an extremely frustrating problem. My computer takes several minutes, sometimes a half hour, to do ANYTHING except open My Computer and the Explorer. Now I've looked at several posts on this site and I've tried things like CCleaner and Ad-Aware (which pretty much freezes my computer now whenever I turn it on) and neither of these have solved the problem.
Ever since I've had broadband my pc seems to have screwed up. Now if we connect to the internet the startbar freezes for 10 minutes. Even after 10 mins we have to press Crtl+Alt+Delete. I think it may be spyware as the system has slowed down too. I'm using xp home edition.
i recently had to reinstall windows XP. I have all the updates and service packs, but now every time i boot up the computer or bring it out of standby, the windows interface will not allow any new programs or windows to be launched for around 5 minutes, at which point all of the programs i've attempted to launch will all launch at once. This includes task manager, windows explorer and the start menu. This seems to have something to do with my internet connection, because it will work alright until i connect, and as soon as i do it will happen and will freeze up. A few days ago i managed to disconnect and it broke the freeze and everything launched, so i connected again and it seemed fine. Today however when i clicked disconnect, it took five minutes or so to actually cut off.
i'm using Windows XP right now.All i know is that out of the blue when i got back to my computer and the screen was black and had the message in white text in the left hand corner that read something like this "Invalid Disk System.Replace disk and press any key".i tried just pressing any keys but the message just keeps on appearing beneath the previous one.i recently bought an external drive, and my computer was working fine for a few days until now.When my external drive is not plugged to my USB that message doesn't appear. Now every time i use the computer, it would work normally but after every 5 minutes or so it would just restart itself without any warnings.
my PC seems to be having what you would call major issues. Within minutes of logging in, my PC either locks up or restarts itself. This can occur from me either just clicking, trying to open up My Documents, changing my wallpaper, ETC.I have tried to defragment (can't start), system restore (all of my points were deleted somehow), AdAware (error message upon click), McAfee (refuses to load after the logo pops up), using msconfig to remove the startup programs to determine if any of them are the cause (helps just a tad, but so far, the problems persist).I can't access HijackThis because, even if if I COULD open it, going into Chrome, IExplorer or Firefox would just cause the PC to crash or lock up.I need an answer soon. I have just started school, and I need to use my PC. I have also just spent $140 to upgrade it so I can play Warhammer Online and The Witcher.
We have a domain setup in Winserver2003 and they are about 20 users running WindowsXP. For the past of couple of days, users have been complaining of slow login lasting of about 5-10 minutes. Clients are pointing to DNS.
