Sata Drivers While Installing 64

Oct 24, 2008

I'm trying to set up a dual-boot with Ubuntu and XP64. Initially I just had Ubuntu on my one sata hdd and XP on an ide hdd. I decided it'd be better running XP on the sata drive too, so I resized my linux partition with gparter, and created a new NTFS partition. The problem is, when I try to install XP onto the drive, it cannot seem to see the sata drive. Nothing was listed at all except the ide drives and my usb drive.I did some looking and found the 64 bit sata drivers for my motherboard, managed to load them onto a floppy and load them into the XP setup. This was all fine again until the time to select a partition, where it seemed to list the drive, but only shows 'Unknown disk' 'There is no disk in the drive'.I tried deleting the partition I made with gparter to see if XP could at least see the 'unallocated space' but to no avail.I even tried making a boot disk in nLite with the sata drivers, but it made no difference (not really surprisingly). If I try to use the 32 bit drivers that came with my mobo, it won't let me install XP.I'm all out of ideas to why it won't work.

Installing SATA Raid Drivers?

Dec 3, 2006

My computer came preinstalled with a whole bunch of HP garbage I didn't want.. So I bought a copy of WINxp pro and tried to install.. Upon doing this It couldn't read my hard drive, which I later determined was due to the fact it is a SATA hard drive and the XP install cd doesnt have the drivers for it. Solution was, I changed a setting in my computer's BIOS to change the raid mode to IDE instead of SATA, then the install proccess went fine. Problem is now I have to keep it at IDE, and if I turn it back to SATA the computer retstarts after the Starting Windows screen with the Windows icon, I assume this is due to the fact that Windows didn't bother installing any SATA drivers since I installed in IDE mode... Could somone please point me in the right direction as to what I need to install/configure to allow WIN to boot up with my BIOS using SATA mode?

Fujitsu SATA Drivers

Jul 11, 2007

I'm trying to install XP on a new Fujitsu SATA hard drive (39T2785 R) in a Lenovo laptop (supplied with Vista on the original drive) and no diskette drive. The problem is that the only thing I can find for drivers is ONTRACK's Disk Manager...which creates a bootable floppy disk. I suspect the drivers are included in the .BIN file on the diskette, but I can't get to them.

SATA Drivers For Reinstalling

I have a custom made PC, with XP Home OEM. Since I lost the CD, I borrowed a friend's, but used my own product key. This seemed to be okay, untill it said something about having no hard disk/drive.I looked this up on the internet and people have mentioned SATA drivers. I think this is related to the motherboard? So will everything be okay if I get the SATA drivers for my motherboard? How do I find these? I looked on the Asus site, and it seemed too confusing.Incase you need to know, I have an Asus P5RD1-V

SP2 With ICHR9 SATA Drivers

Jul 15, 2008

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R mobo. I don't need RAID but would like to use SATA AHCI mode (option in BIOS) which would allow actual SATA drivers instead of the IDE emulation (mode). All my hard drives and optical drives are SATA.I have found via google many old articles and instructions how to slipstream XP and SP2 but I have a newer XP SP2 CD. I just need to 'add' the SATA drivers that I can download from the Gigabyte driver downloads site.Does anyone know how to do this (i.e. slipstream XP SP2 w/ ICH9R SATA drivers?)?I read about using nLite and other programs/methods but I would like something simple that doesn't need floppies.

Installing Drivers For Graphics And Wireless Network Card Drivers

Jan 1, 2006

Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) TP-LINK 54mbps wireless network card) And last but not least

I've never done this either! Is this still an issue with XP SP2 (I have a full install Windows XP Pro SP2 CD). Installing On SATA Drive In Dell M1330

Aug 19, 2007

I've read all the reports and "in theory" I know what I need to do. However, I haven't been able to pull it off yet. Here goes:

I hate Vista. I'm installing XP.
I have a SATA drive. I don't have a floppy drive.
I believe I can do it in the BIOS.

I've changed the HD setting in the BIOS from SATA to ATA (my only choice). XP installs fine. But now I need to change it back to SATA. I do that, restart and I get the blue screen with an automatic restart. I'm sure I need to add the SATA drivers somewhere, but I'm not sure where or how.

Would Like To "UPGRADE" - Missing The Sata Drivers

I already went to gateways driver site and downloaded the 32bit sata/ mass storage controller, the chipset wich supports XP and the Sigma Tel Audio Driver. I am going to use "nlite" to slipstream the drivers into the XP install disk but have a few questions because I have never done this. First, do I need to insert all drivers into the xp install or just the sata/ mass controller? And If anyone has ever done this could I get you to walk me through it?

Not Auto Installing Drivers - USB Devices

Apr 18, 2010

my friend give me his Gateway 610XL all in one PC to fix a few problems. one of them was internet explorer not showing up when called for, that was an easy fix; however, this next problem has to do with USB devices and it's giving me a bit of trouble. basically, any USB devices i connect to it, windows doesn't auto install or even try to auto install the drivers. no matter what i connect to it (mouse, keyboard, thumb drive). i can go into device manager and install the drivers manually just fine but i would like to fix the auto install feature for my friend cuz he's not that good with computers. i checked and made sure the following services are enabled:

plug and play
upnp
user mode driver framework
shell hardware detection

the problem persist even in safe mode. one thing i noticed is when i go to control panel and then hit add hardware, i get a message that says this: "you can only install one device at a time. when the other device installation is complete, try this wizard again" (some where along those lines). i get that message even with nothing connected to the USB ports. i'm guessing what ever this "other device" is, it hanging up pnp so how do i go about aborting that installation? i don't really see anything in the task bar that even suggest a driver installation is on the way. this is running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3 by that way.
