View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with windows xp on a laptop with preinstalled vista that has no floppy drive, the error "It doesn't detect the SATA HDD"; I tried the solution with a usb floppy drive and pressing f6, I found the correct driver and it works fine, I`m able to partition the HD and the process continues until it asks for the driver again but the USB floppy drive doesn't wortk in that part of the installation.
The next solution I found of this forum was making a custom XP CD including the SATA drivers with NLITE software, incredible software, without pressing f6 the HD is detected and again I'm able to partition and the installation begins, almost success!! but ... when it reboots to continue the installation it does't detect the HD again a lecture error displays and the classic press ctrl+alt+del to reboot!!! Am I missing something?
Doing a fresh install of xp on a sata drive. When it asks to press F6 to install the third party drivers will I be able to load off the motherboard driver cd, or does it *have* to be a floppy.? Reason is the folder that contains the driver info on the cd is over 6mb so obviously won't fit on a floppy..and I'm not sure which I need to complete the install. If I habe the driver cd in the second cd drive will I be able to browse to it when asked? Failing that, just what info do I need to put on a floppy?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've looked around and I'm having a hard time finding good info on this. I've looked up stuff like slipstreaming SATA drivers into the windows disc, but I don't think I'm doing it right. I got the correct SATA drivers from gateways website. I'm pretty sure this system just uses the intel SATA Chipset. Any way if anyone could help me install XP on my Gateway C-141XL laptop without having a floppy disc I'd really appreciate it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install XP on a new Fujitsu SATA hard drive (39T2785 R) in a Lenovo laptop (supplied with Vista on the original drive) and no diskette drive. The problem is that the only thing I can find for drivers is ONTRACK's Disk Manager...which creates a bootable floppy disk. I suspect the drivers are included in the .BIN file on the diskette, but I can't get to them.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a custom made PC, with XP Home OEM. Since I lost the CD, I borrowed a friend's, but used my own product key. This seemed to be okay, untill it said something about having no hard disk/drive.I looked this up on the internet and people have mentioned SATA drivers. I think this is related to the motherboard? So will everything be okay if I get the SATA drivers for my motherboard? How do I find these? I looked on the Asus site, and it seemed too confusing.Incase you need to know, I have an Asus P5RD1-V

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up a dual-boot with Ubuntu and XP64. Initially I just had Ubuntu on my one sata hdd and XP on an ide hdd. I decided it'd be better running XP on the sata drive too, so I resized my linux partition with gparter, and created a new NTFS partition. The problem is, when I try to install XP onto the drive, it cannot seem to see the sata drive. Nothing was listed at all except the ide drives and my usb drive.I did some looking and found the 64 bit sata drivers for my motherboard, managed to load them onto a floppy and load them into the XP setup. This was all fine again until the time to select a partition, where it seemed to list the drive, but only shows 'Unknown disk' 'There is no disk in the drive'.I tried deleting the partition I made with gparter to see if XP could at least see the 'unallocated space' but to no avail.I even tried making a boot disk in nLite with the sata drivers, but it made no difference (not really surprisingly). If I try to use the 32 bit drivers that came with my mobo, it won't let me install XP.I'm all out of ideas to why it won't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R mobo. I don't need RAID but would like to use SATA AHCI mode (option in BIOS) which would allow actual SATA drivers instead of the IDE emulation (mode). All my hard drives and optical drives are SATA.I have found via google many old articles and instructions how to slipstream XP and SP2 but I have a newer XP SP2 CD. I just need to 'add' the SATA drivers that I can download from the Gigabyte driver downloads site.Does anyone know how to do this (i.e. slipstream XP SP2 w/ ICH9R SATA drivers?)?I read about using nLite and other programs/methods but I would like something simple that doesn't need floppies.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer came preinstalled with a whole bunch of HP garbage I didn't want.. So I bought a copy of WINxp pro and tried to install.. Upon doing this It couldn't read my hard drive, which I later determined was due to the fact it is a SATA hard drive and the XP install cd doesnt have the drivers for it. Solution was, I changed a setting in my computer's BIOS to change the raid mode to IDE instead of SATA, then the install proccess went fine. Problem is now I have to keep it at IDE, and if I turn it back to SATA the computer retstarts after the Starting Windows screen with the Windows icon, I assume this is due to the fact that Windows didn't bother installing any SATA drivers since I installed in IDE mode... Could somone please point me in the right direction as to what I need to install/configure to allow WIN to boot up with my BIOS using SATA mode?

After a while, I got recovery discs from IBM and I have created startup and ThinkVantage discs.I have restored my IBM to factory-condition few times before, but now I want to format it to the ground level to get rid of some files which have been piled up in the reserved-preinstalled sector of the hard drive. I just believe that it make my IBM even more fresh than "usual restoration".My question is: can I format my IBM from DOS environment by using startup disc and still use the restoration/recovery discs after that, to install XP and acompanying programs? Is there any body who have done it on any other PC brands; because I think that it can be the same for other makes.

This laptop does not come with a floppy nor do I have a usb floppy! I would like to "UPGRADE" to win XP Home but the hard drive isn't seen because it's missing the xp sata drivers. I already went to gateways driver site and downloaded the 32bit sata/ mass storage controller, the chipset wich supports XP and the Sigma Tel Audio Driver. I am going to use "nlite" to slipstream the drivers into the XP install disk but have a few questions because I have never done this. First, do I need to insert all drivers into the xp install or just the sata/ mass controller? And If anyone has ever done this could I get you to walk me through it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me.
