There is a saved history for when I type things in searches, like Google or eBay. So every time I type something new it brings up a drop down menu of past things I have typed that start with the same letters. I want to remove this or shut off this feature.

I started up IE and when I entered the search menu under the history toolbar the internet shortcut "what I searched" - google search could not be deleted I even ran a history cleaner and yet it was the only thing that remained in the history toolbar under the search menu.
Internet Explorer keeps track of each URL that you type in the address bar as a convenience to save you from typing the next time that you visit that site. However, any user that uses your computer can find out what addresses you typed in as well so some may be interested in clearing the address bar addresses. Just clearing the browser history will not do this as a registry modification is needed

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have run sfc scan now (because the startup of win xp was slower than before ( i count the 3 blue bars when xp is loading, and it was increased from 6 to 11) and asks the win xp cd. after the check, I rerun the sfc scannow, to be sure that everything is ok, but asks again for winxp cd (there is still corrupted files?). I run sfc /purgecache, then again scannow to refill the cache, and after i rerun the scannow it still asks for the xin xp cd!!! what is going on here?(note that i have win xp pro gr without sp2, after the installation i installed sp2. I re instaled the sp2, rerun the sfc /purgecache , then scannow, and again the scannow and still asks for the win xp cd.)

View 4 Replies View Relatedrecently my computer takes ages to get passed the Windows XP load screen. Sometimes the scrolling bars stop and it freezes before i it loads the desktop. It works if i safe boot it, but often it doesn't pass the Windows XP startup screen, or it takes a long time (approx 100s) to get passed it. Before it only took at most 10 seconds. It don't know why it's doing it. I've tried running a registry mechanic, prefetch cleaner and all that jazz.But it's still taking awhile to get passed that XP screen.

I created a new user account and it was OK until the screen went into screen saver and I needed to log back in and the problem was there again. my computer was infected. I used to able to do a search from the address bar, but now I'm hyjacked to some sort of porno search engine.I use spybot,zone alarm,AVG, webroot. I've tryied using Hyjack this program in atempt to find problem.Still suffering!!! Any suggestions ?

What are the rules for a case sensitive search when searching for all files and folders in XP. I have set the option, and have tried searching in both upper and lower case options, and still get the same results.
