No Text Is Visible On Icon Titles, Menu Bars, Or Notification Message?
Feb 24, 2005windows boots normally although no text is visible on any icon titles, menu bars, or notification message texts. Any Ideas? Thanks.

IE Text Size Is Not Visible
Jul 23, 2005I have my text size set at Largest in the view menu on IE6, lately it isn't working and I am really having some serious problems I had a cornea transplant last Jan and I have not gotten new contacts yet, ( my Doc told me I am good to go for using the puter, in case anyone's concern) I HATE HATE ATE the magnifier, its very disorienting, so what could possibly be causing this, my spyware sanners turn up nothing Norton turns up nothing, I went t0o a sight for ASAP or some thing for "professionals" thru a link on the board, and I got an X-Clean thing, I figured it was safe cause another member had it as a link, was I hijacked someplace else. Could this be the problem?

When I start my computer, I get an error message that reads: "Cannot Create Shell Notification System Icon" I don�t know what is it, I think that has something to do with the icons on the toolbar, in fact, when my computer starts with that message, quite icons in toolbar disappear. I tried to restore system and nothing happens, except that the all icons appear again, but when I restart the computer they disappear again. I have already pass all antivirus and all programs related to cleaning, everything.

Aug 25, 2006Whenever I start my computer the volume icon is missing from the notification area. When I go to the volume options there is a tick in the box that says 'Place volume icon in taskbar.' But if I take the tick out and click apply and the put the tick back in and click apply, it reappears. However the next time I start my computer, it has disappeared again.

There aren't any words underneath the icons. Also, Certain web pages only partially come up. For example the text will show but only half of the pictures or ads will show.

However upon start-up I noticed a variety of Windows menu texts to be completely missing - that is, the dialogue boxes and other such usually-text-containing shapes came out (albeit somewhat abnormally usually, often shortened to a few pixels) with no text in it at all. Internet pages themselves show up just fine, but any other text associated with internet explorer itself (i.e. tab and toolbar titles, dropdown menus like 'Page', etc.) is text-blank (icons still remain though, which helps a little)

Outlook express doesn't allow you to filter newsgroup messages by words in the body of the message, so you often have to grin and bear it.If you don't know what I'm talking about then chances are that you don't need this filter.But people who use Usenet have been complaining for ages that Outlook Express doesn't have this capability.There are spammers who change their name 20 times a day and the normal Outlook Express filters are ineffective against that.Anyway, here's the solution.You have to be comfortable playing around in your Windows registry. First, (outlook express), create a normal newsgroup rule, and tell it to filter outany messages with "XYZ" (or whatever) in the subject line, andremember what you called the filter, because you'll need to know that name later.Be sure to specify the newsgroup you wish to apply this rule to, as this is the only thing you won't be able to change after.

Formatting - Error Message (blue Screen With Yellow Text)
Dec 31, 2004I returned to my computer earlier today and noticed it was a bit sluggish and out of the ordinary. I restart it thinking this will fix the problems, only to find out that its having problems booting up Windows XP. It gets to the window boot up screen and would get a quick flash of a Windows error message(blue screen with yellow text) and would restart and continue this process with no end. I attempted to boot-up from Safe-mode and last windows configuration, yet the problem continued. I decided to bite the bullet and reformat. Here entails my actual problem, I delete the partition and attempted to reformat. Well it begins as it normally would, however it freezes everytime at 1%. I have tried another HDD sadly, I don't think that one has ever worked. It gets power fine, mobo is working correctly. Yet, it could be several things I could've fried my HDD, CPU, RAM any number of things. Yet it dosent seem very possible as I have heat sinks on the RAM and decent cooling in my computer.

Jul 19, 2005I am running Windows XP SP2 on a Toshiba laptop. Recently, I cannot select the standby icon from my shutdown menu (i.e. it appears, but is not highlighted). While this does not seem like such a serious issue, I am concerned it may be a sign of a larger problem. I have not had a crash however, so I do not know why the sudden change. I would prefer not to do a system restore, if there is another option. I also could not see any simple solution in the power management settings.
