One of my users reported that their icon text had disappeared. I went to check things out and it looks like all text in Windows had disappeared as well! Buttons, icons, drop down menus, etc.User said they hadn't gone anything recently and that the PC was just like this after being off for five days (yeah right ).
View 12 RepliesI have just received my Acer Aspire 1690 Laptop back from Acer after repairs (was freezing all the time - they replaced optical drive, hard drive and main board).I am re-installing all my software but every now and then when a dialogue bx appears with a choice of buttons to click on there is no text so I don't know what buttons do what.It doesn't happen every time but seems to happen when the dialogue boxes and buttons are not the standard windows type but ones made by the software (ie. they may be bigger than usual) - if that makes sense?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with text diplaying in bizarre fashion. The machine is a Dell Optiplex tower operating Windows XP Pro. When I am in an application or browsing web pages and choose one of the dropdown boxes, the box drops down and shows the outside lines of the box. Then when you swipe your cursor over the dropdown it will display the text that is invisible. All that I have to do to show the text is pass the cursor over the area. If I do not swipe the are with the cursor the text will be there, I assume, but never display.Has anyone encountered this issue before.

And for instance, when you go to the Set Program Access and Defaults, on the left I have the icons, but I don't have the text below. There aren't any words underneath the icons. Also, Certain web pages only partially come up. For example the text will show but only half of the pictures or ads will show.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy mother has recently had problems with her pc and i wont bore you with the details but I've managed to sort it out and it seems to be running fine now.However the network connection icon has disappeared. (the 2 little flashing computer screens inthe bottom right hand corner near the clock) The trouble is she uses these to disconnect from the internet and at the moment restarts her computer each time she wants to disconnect.Its driving me nuts trying to find the right menu to turn them back on and I'm probably being blind.If someone could give me some info it would be most appreciated by me and my mum. She's running XP professional and has not yet installed service pack 2.

Today when I tried to open various files from the 19 I discovered that two of them would not open. The icon on the desktop for IE shows fine but when i try to click on it, it creates a shortcut for internet explorer. if click on IE from the start menu, it opens IE with no problems.
