Background Titles Become Unclickable
Mar 9, 2006Whenever i go to the desktop tab under the display function, the background titles become un-clickable and it only lets me use a color.

Abbreviate Window Titles In Taskbar?
Aug 27, 2005Sometimes I have multiple folders open and need to switch quickly.Usuallly they are minimized in my taskbar. Unfortunately most are on the same disk and even have the same path.Due to the full pathname, what is shown in the taskbar is only the first part of the path. I would rather have the last part of ech path shown.Is this possible for improved identification

Aug 11, 2005They are all files that I copied from my own cds, not from the internet, and do not have 'tag'information. All 750 of them, except for 8, show up as'Track 01', or 02, 03, etc. When I looked at the file properties of the 8 files that *did display their titles on the mp3 player, under the 'summary' tab, in the 'track title' field, it was BLANK. Under the 'general' tab, the actual title of the file was listed correctly.
The files that did *not have their correct titles listed on the mp3 player, under the 'summary' tab in 'file properties' in XP, had a title like 'Track 01' listed. Under the 'general' tab of file properties however, the actual title of the song was listed correctly. Is there a way I can go in and mass edit out the 'Track 01' title from all those files? Does this indicate some other problem?

May 16, 2007For approximately the past two months my background is set to a solid color. Believe me I have searched everywhere and tried just about everything. I cannot change the picture, only the color that I set for icon backgrounds. That sounds kind of confusing but I don't know how else to word it. Feb 2, 2009Took my favorite photo and made it my desktop background. Now I cannot remove it or replace it. I go to CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY,under THEMES, I select a new one and click APPLY and OK. It does not change the desktop background. When I right click on a photo and select SEND TO, it does not give the option to set as a background.Also tried right clicking on the desktop, and PROPERTIES, getting the same results.

Background But No Desktop
Sep 16, 2007A friend has a Compaq laptop running Windows XP. When you power up the system, the Windows XP logo screen comes up and then the desktop background comes up but it stops there. You never get any desktop icons or taskbar so there is no way to navigate. If anyone has any suggestions on how to debug this it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oct 18, 2004I'm using XP Home Edition, with all updates installed. For some reason, I can't change the background wallpaper on my screen. I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)

Normally you would find the images that come with the PC and the image you already have on the screen, well on my PC it used to show that now it is showing all of the pics in the "My Pictures" folder. Mar 19, 2006I am having difficulty changing my desktop wallpaper. No matter what I do, I cannot put a different picture or wallpaper on the desktop. I have already tried using the right click on the desktop and going into the properties that way. It won't even let me select any of the options for the wallpaper. And I used to be able to go to my photo files and just pick one, right click on it and select the "set as desktop background" option. But now it won't let me change it at all.
