i go to change my packground image by going to the properties menu then display and here is where the problem begins. Normally you would find the images that come with the PC and the image you already have on the screen, well on my PC it used to show that now it is showing all of the pics in the "My Pictures" folder. What could be the problem, i went to the desktopicon in my System32 folder and there is nothing on the notepad?

OK, so I migrate to XP (SP2) and now I want to change the attributes of that folder back to standad - it's a legibility issue... :-) However... I can't for the life of me find where to change either the font color or the folder background image. Note: It's NOT the folder icon or the folder miniature I'm talking about, nor a mail folder.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I open my Display Properties and move to the Desktop tab and choose Browse to choose a picture to set as my background, after I have selected Open and the box closes, the Apply button is unavailable and the image I chose does not appear in my list or in the preview. I've also taken notice that certain images that were once in the list of available backgrounds images, such as Ascent, Autumn and Azul no longer appear to be available. Right clicking on an image and choosing Set as desktop background does not work, and neither does choosing the same option from the Picture Tasks. I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)

I have already tried using the right click on the desktop and going into the properties that way. It won't even let me select any of the options for the wallpaper. And I used to be able to go to my photo files and just pick one, right click on it and select the "set as desktop background" option. But now it won't let me change it at all.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe color of the background on my screen has become strange. The white changes to a pale yellowish, light kaki tint for no apparent reason. It happens to both the web pages as well as the folder windows. Sometimes it changes back and forth and other times doesn't change at all. The really wierd part is that pictures and graphics don't show the yellowish tint. I am using W-2000Pro with SP4, Rollup and updates.
My Monitor is an Acer AL1912 LCD and I have had it from new. My Computer is about 3 years old and I have had it from new. It is a 3.2 P4 on an Intel 915gagMobo. Intel replaced this board about 1 year ago.
There has been no abuse to the system, it has very few games on it and I have not added new software lately. I am the only one that uses this computer and it is my home PC. I use AVG 8.0 Free and Spybot. Both are updated. Other than an errant cookie, they have not found anything in the last 3 months. If you need any more information or need to move this to another forum, just ask.
For some unknown reason, I can't change my desktop picture. When I go into the Display Settings, everything in the Desktop tab is grayed out. I can still use the customize desktop button and the position drop-box, but I can't acutally select an image.
I've tried going through the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem , but none of this helped. I had at one stage lost all the tabs, but I managed to retrieve them through the registry. It's not urgent that I get the desktop tab working, it's just really annoying.
I noticed that my Windows' "Desktop background (wallpaper) image" no longer displays correctly. After selecting any image (normally, I use one of my .jpg's), and setting it to "stretch," it will not display the "stretched" version to fit the image dimensions fully. It no longer "shrinks or expands" to fit the horizontal, actual size of the image to the width of my monitor's display area.
