When I used win98 I used to be able to put a primary image, usually centered, on my desktop and then was able to put a background pattern (eg. triangles or bricks) around the primary image I am having difficulty doing this with XP. Can anyone tell me how to get the background image pattern to work.I have SP2 and Plus.
View 4 RepliesI can change the desktop wallpaper background to a personal pic, by using the browse button. no problem, but it won't keep the pic in the list of available backgrounds. it will keep the background i choose until i want to change it, but as soon as i switch, that pic disappears and if i want to change back, i have to use the browse button all over again. running xp home not a major problem, but annoying.if there is a quick fix i can't find it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't change the wallpaper on my desktop anymore. I last changed it to a wallpaper for halloween from hersheys.com. Now, when I right-click [on my destop] and view my display properties, the tab for Desktop isn't even there. The tabs I do see are themes (of which I have none to choose from), screensaver, appearance, and settings. Is there a way to repair this without reinstalling windows?
View 14 Replies View Relatedwhen i set an image as my wallpaper it appears in the bottom right corner of my screen showing just the upper left corner of the image. it only covers approx 2/3 of my desktop. i have tried everything to fix this and its really annoying. i have tried resizing the images, different refresh rates, new graf card drivers (geforce 6700XL). Tried stretch, tile and centre in display properties, various resolutions combined with refresh rates. different images, even tried a different monitor probably a few things i have missed but i been trying for days.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems that I am the likely victim of an exploit of some sort, but I have been unable to find any information on it.The hardware is an IBM desktop, running Windows 2000.Somewhere along the line, I discovered that when I do a ctrl-alt-delete, the "background image" that appears has been replaced with a porn image. This is also the same background that appears during the Windows start and shutdown sequence, before/after the desktop appears.

I am having some problems with my computer.Can't choose a background image for my desktop, but the colors change fine. Computer says at start up unable to find accounts, but then it logs me into the only account I do have. I cannot view pictures / images / icons on Administrater on safemode. Just shows text.

After selecting any image (normally, I use one of my .jpg's), and setting it to "stretch," it will not display the "stretched" version to fit the image dimensions fully. It no longer "shrinks or expands" to fit the horizontal, actual size of the image to the width of my monitor's display area.

I pointed it (browsed to) Windows/Web/Wallpapers but it STILL insists on my pictures included there! Never had a problem with it and this new problem has just come out of no where.All background wallpapers leave a big gap down the left hand side of my screen. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using XP Home Edition, with all updates installed. For some reason, I can't change the background wallpaper on my screen. I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)

This picture used to be my desktop picture many months ago. I have changed the desktop photo several times and this same old picture keeps showing up. I have even deleted it from my laptop. How do I get rid of it as I cant find the picture anywhere on my pc. I have tried System restore also. I am using windows XP Home edition on a Sony Vaio, Intel Pentium 4 Processor. I tried changing it back to the wallpaper, but even though the wallpaper seemed to change, i still could only see a black screen. The wallpaper is there, because when i close a game it appears for a second, then gets back to the black screen. It's like it is being covered by the background colour. Everything is still working fine, and i can use all the icons on my desktop, however a black desktop is very annoying

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I go to set a picture as the desktop background it stretches it to fit, fine... but if you dont want everyone looking wide you set it to centre but when I do that it zooms right in on the picture instead of displaying it in its original size on the screen.... why is this? is it because the picture from the camera is massive or is this an XP bug?

In the details pane (right-side), double-click the Background string value item. 4. Change the value to a 3 number RGB value, and then click OK . You have now changed the logon background color.NOTE: I went looking for this registry key after using the "Change the Logon BackGround" tweak, and that bright XP blue color kept showing before the OS had a chance to load my dark wallpaper. This way if you choose a color close to the wallpaper shown, the load of the wallpaper is less noticeable.

Normally you would find the images that come with the PC and the image you already have on the screen, well on my PC it used to show that now it is showing all of the pics in the "My Pictures" folder. Under it there was a box that said "Click here to restore background" or something like that. When I clicked on it my background became a solid blue background. I tried changing it by right clicking, but when the Properties windows opens, the only folders that show up are the Screensaver and Settings folders. All the others are gone.I can change the wallpaper when I go to My Pictures and right click and set up as background, but the screen remains blue and you can only see the picture briefly when powering on and off

OK, so I migrate to XP (SP2) and now I want to change the attributes of that folder back to standad - it's a legibility issue... :-) However... I can't for the life of me find where to change either the font color or the folder background image. Note: It's NOT the folder icon or the folder miniature I'm talking about, nor a mail folder.
