Change The Background Image
May 6, 2007i go to change my packground image by going to the properties menu then display and here is where the problem begins. Normally you would find the images that come with the PC and the image you already have on the screen, well on my PC it used to show that now it is showing all of the pics in the "My Pictures" folder. What could be the problem, i went to the desktopicon in my System32 folder and there is nothing on the notepad?

OK, so I migrate to XP (SP2) and now I want to change the attributes of that folder back to standad - it's a legibility issue... :-) However... I can't for the life of me find where to change either the font color or the folder background image. Note: It's NOT the folder icon or the folder miniature I'm talking about, nor a mail folder.

Jun 4, 2003This is a pretty cool tweak to perform on AOL Instant Messenger. You will need Resource Hacker though. Get into ResHacker and open aimres.dll in the AIM95 folder. On the tree open GIFDATA>103>1033. You should see your current sign on graphic. I would suggest backing up this graphic in case you ever want to go change it back. Once you have another graphic edited to go in its place, open the Action menu and click on "Replace other Resourse..." Open your new graphic in the area given... Then copy in this info: Resourse Type: GIFDATAResoures Name: 103Resourse Language: 1033 Then click "Replace" and Save. Another cool thing you can do from ResHacker with aimres.dll is edit some of the dialog AIM uses. Open the dialog portion of the tree and costumize some of the messages and screens used in AIM.

Nov 26, 2006On the windows login screen, right below my login name, there is a little note that says how many new mail messages I have- This however was set up by my ex-boyfriend under his hotmail account. I'd like to change it to one of my accounts if possible, (I primarily use a university based webmail account), and if I can't change it to anything but hotmail or msn then I would like to remove it.
I haven't been able to figure out where to find this setting.

The problem is:How can I set an image as the background for a folder (eg, when open this folder in Windows Explorer, the image appear as the background on the right pane). I saw that in some machines (WinXP), the desktop has a portion that I think is an HTML file (because it has hyperlinks and other content in it). I am having some problems with my computer.Can't choose a background image for my desktop, but the colors change fine. May 2, 2006when I open my Display Properties and move to the Desktop tab and choose Browse to choose a picture to set as my background, after I have selected Open and the box closes, the Apply button is unavailable and the image I chose does not appear in my list or in the preview. I've also taken notice that certain images that were once in the list of available backgrounds images, such as Ascent, Autumn and Azul no longer appear to be available. Right clicking on an image and choosing Set as desktop background does not work, and neither does choosing the same option from the Picture Tasks. Does anybody have any idea what has happened and how I can restore whatever settings I may have changed without applying a system restore?

Jan 19, 2008I have been in the recovery console, I have tried making a winpe boot disk "Failed due to errors" tried fixing the MBR, even tried to connect to it remote with regedit to make some changes in the registry with out success. I have even installed another copy of win xp on another drive and booted the system up with the 250gig in it and changed the drive letter in there. After taking the one drive out and booting with the 250gig it still has a letter of "C:" and still the same login loop.

I pretty much can play will all the other settings but not this one. Oct 18, 2004I'm using XP Home Edition, with all updates installed. For some reason, I can't change the background wallpaper on my screen. I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)

Mar 19, 2006I am having difficulty changing my desktop wallpaper. No matter what I do, I cannot put a different picture or wallpaper on the desktop. I have already tried using the right click on the desktop and going into the properties that way. It won't even let me select any of the options for the wallpaper. And I used to be able to go to my photo files and just pick one, right click on it and select the "set as desktop background" option. But now it won't let me change it at all.
