i have too many programs running on my Taskmanager, i used End it all but couldn't get on with it, i want a program or someway of ending the background programs and then them staying closed, even after reboot,P.S- i have done al of the other options, like "Go into MSCONFIG" i have closed the ones i do not need there, my startup tab is empty.
Whenever I have any programs or apps running they are forced into the background.

The start programs on list suddenly dont open, computer freezes up, did the error-checking but I cannot seem to get some vital prgrams to open up. When I attempt to uninstall a program, the corresponding programs "uninstaller", asks for a network resource. Here is an example screen shot of what I am seeing when I attempt to uninstall Ad Aware: It doesn't seem to matter what I am attempting to uninstall. In all of the uninstall scenarios that I have seen Add / Remove programs asks for an MSI file with a similar name to the program that I am attempting to uninstall.

I go to CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY,under THEMES, I select a new one and click APPLY and OK. It does not change the desktop background. When I right click on a photo and select SEND TO, it does not give the option to set as a background.Also tried right clicking on the desktop, and PROPERTIES, getting the same results.

When you power up the system, the Windows XP logo screen comes up and then the desktop background comes up but it stops there. I was able to locate them using "search" then open and pin to start menu. (The search function displays i.e. shortcuts for "administrator", "guest" and the other user, but not for me. The icons do display on the "all programs" list for the other user). Any suggestions as to how to get them back on the "all programs" menu?

I right-click on the desktop, select Properties, then select the Desktop tab. There is only one wallpaper listed in the Background list, as well as the (None) option, which works. Unfortunately, I can only switch between (None) and my current wallpaper. Browse works, in that I can search my computer for other images. But when I select any of those images nothing happens. The current wallpaper remains in the preview screen, and the wallpaper I selected through browsing doesn't show up in the Background list. (I can Center, Stretch and Tile my current wallpaper.)
