Is there a way to select the color of text and icons in a deselected item. The stuff in the appearance tab permits color selection of the text in a selectedbutton -- one that will do something it clicked, but I can find no way to select the color of the text in a button that WILL NOT cause an action if clicked.
View 3 RepliesI am using Windows XP and for about 2 months (I guess) certain websites look funny. As an exmple, the background for Yahoo is white even though I have tried to change it to a theme that yahoo offers. The text size also is too big and all over the place- looks weird. I have tried everything I can think of but i am a novice and am wondering if there is some simple answer here or something else I can try? Is it XP or a problem with my browser? MSN also has only a white background with big letters that look awkward. If I try to change the background to blue, it won't do it. It's driving me nuts!

I don't know how it got there and i want to remove it because its useless and it doesn't work.when i click on it a message pops up "windows cannot find ........... click the start button then click search." yes, I've tried removing it by right clicking on the taskbar and clicking the "taskbar and start menu properties" but there's not option to remove it there. One this I can't get rid of is an item on the Start Menu "Buy From Toshiba Direct". It's located directly above the shutdown dialogue in it's own little category, below the Run button. But occasionaly, it is desirable to open the folder contents in a new window. For this one has to start again from 'My Computer Is there a registry hack that will add a 'Open in a new window' item to the folder context menu ?
Like to change the bold item on the right click menu, how do I do that? For jpg images I want the double click behavior to be Preview which opens the Picture and Fax viewer, and not the Open item.

But when I type the command 'start', it opens a new window with blue text and green background.I think it does this because I download the program Replacer, which runs in DOS and makes the screen those colors. I also think the Replacer program did something to the system Path which modifies DOS to make it those colors when running a new window.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe improvement which I'd like to suggest is to change the behaviour of the recently used programs part of the Start Menu so that it doesn't include any programs which are already pinned. I have several programs pinned because I use them so often - Word, Excel, Outlook Express etc - so it's pointless and irritating to have them appear twice on the menu because they are on the recent programs list under the pinned list too. This is even more irritating when, as occasionally happens, it is a program which has a unique initial
letter which I use to quickly start the program. For example on my Start Menu, Notepad is the only pinned item starting with N, and so I can press "Start, N" to run it. Unfortunately sometimes Notepad ends up in the recently used list, and then because there are two programs beginning with N, my shortcut no longer works.
One point worth noting perhaps, seeing as I've just tried this and it didn't seem to happen ... it only happens at bootup, if you do anything to modify the Start Menu - such as pinning a different item - then all duplicates get removed. And they won't reappear if you use the program again. However as soon as you do a restart, they reappear in the menu, and stay until they are forcibly removed, such as by pinning something else.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my version of iTunes this afternoon I was of course prompted to restart my laptop (an HP Pavilion dv6000), which I did. However upon start-up I noticed a variety of Windows menu texts to be completely missing - that is, the dialogue boxes and other such usually-text-containing shapes came out (albeit somewhat abnormally usually, often shortened to a few pixels) with no text in it at all. Internet pages themselves show up just fine, but any other text associated with internet explorer itself (i.e. tab and toolbar titles, dropdown menus like 'Page', etc.) is text-blank (icons still remain though, which helps a little)

His start menu shows all the icons for programs but under some things like My Computer, and some others, there is no text or title text. On Facebook, you can see a person's picture on the feed, but no name. In Firefox, with new tabs, it doesn't show what the tab titles are. Control panel too also shows all icons and no title.
