Picture As Wallpaper Color Around Words / Under Icons Doesn't Blend In With Picture / Stays Solid Color
Sep 9, 2007
This may seem trivial, but it's bugging me. I have a windows XP and i have the windows classic theme. Every time I put a picture as my wallpaper the color around the words under my icons doesn't blend in with the picture but stays a solid color, so there's like little boxes of blue of white. How do I make those icon words blend in with the picture?
This is SIMILAR to several posts I've seen, but different in a subtle way. I have no desktop icons and no wallpaper on one of my computers, but I have the start toolbar and tray icons, and I have access to task manager and all my programs. However, when I right click on the desktop and click arrange icons all the options are grayed out. Also, I cannot change the wallpaper - it remains solid blue (or any other color) no matter what I try. Neither picture wallpapers nor tiled wallpapers appear. I've included the hijack-this log below.
I have a Windows XP and when I turned on my computer this morning, my taskbar and start menu weren't the standard blue color, but grey, like an older version. I've tried fixing this in my control panel, but it just says I'm already using a blue taskbar & start menu. I really like the modern look of the blue taskbar.
I got a virus. i took care of the problem but my desktop is just white. i still see the icons but the wallpaper is white. if i right click and go to properties i can change the base color but not the wallpaper design. if i go on the internet and set a picture as background it does nothing, but if i log off it will show.
1. Click Start > click Run > type regedit > and click OK.2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_USERSDEFAULTControl PanelColors 3. In the details pane (right-side), double-click the Background string value item. 4. Change the value to a 3 number RGB value, and then click OK . You have now changed the logon background color.NOTE: I went looking for this registry key after using the "Change the Logon BackGround" tweak, and that bright XP blue color kept showing before the OS had a chance to load my dark wallpaper. This way if you choose a color close to the wallpaper shown, the load of the wallpaper is less noticeable.
i've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... I'll post some screenshots now
I was surfing the net and my McAfee virus scan told me i was infected. Soon after my desktop wallpaper showed an ad for free spyware removal software and now i can't change it back to the regular desktop. When i right click it acts like a pic, and won't let me go to the desktop properties.
I had no idea where to put this thread, but since I am running XP Home SP2 I put it here. EVERY picture I save in "My Pictures" ends up in the list of available wallpapers in the display properties. My other computer did not do this, I had to manual choose a particular pic from my folders and then I could use it as a wallpaper. The pictures were not just routed there by default like it seems to be doing now. My big issue is the list is now ridiculously long & I don't know how to stop them from going there & undo the ones that are already on the list.
i have searched everywhere to do this , no site seemed to know how to get rid of it so i am helping the troubled with this problem, well not really a problem but an adjustment..it is a piece of cake. first right click on the desktop, go to arrange icons by ,uncheck lock web items to desktop(bang it's done).
I have discovered that I am no longer able to change the colors of the icons on my desktop. When I get to that option in the Display Properties menu, the option is there but it is not active, it is grayed out or in this case beiged out. I am running XP Professional.
I run a fairly old but trusty Dell desktop machine with Windows XP (Service Pack 3). It's been absolutely fine since I've had it and I've updated the ram some time ago. Then last night for absolutely no apparent reason, when I turned it on and it booted up it immediately looked 'different'. The task bar had changed colour and several of the icons were missing. The text was also in a slightly different font. I then got an error message which reads: 'Exception EOleSysError in module Skype.exe at 00095A71. The RPC server is unavailable.'
Recently the colour (background colour it seems) has left any window i bring up on XP, but the strange thing is, the windows still show images and icons in full colour. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? My computer has blue screened a couple of times recently, if that helps.
I am using Windows XP Professional and I am unsure of what happened to my desktop. I don't recall installing anything to make it change. But now I can see the background color, before the change the icons were translucent and blended in with the red moon theme. How can I change it back? Plus I have the computer set fot adjust for best appearance.
On my daughters old computer with windowsxp(home edition) which is slowly being updated from net (computer man set up automatically). Well computer slowed updates ready so I installed them then restarted computer for them to be activated now computer screen only shows background no icons, no start, nothing, can't get anything to come up on screen.
My desktop on my computer is blank. It still has the icons on it, but there is no picture, only white.I went to the Windows XP Control Panel and made sure that a theme was selected and it was. When the computer reboots, the picture will be on the desktop momentarily, but then it will turn white. The only thing unusual that happened today was some viruses being stopped by my McAfee. After the viruses were blocked, the desktop turned white All programs work and I've run a utility check that Dell provides with the laptop.
When I have either firefox browser or IE6 up and when I minimize my browser or exit out of it, my whole screen goes blank. Every thing from my desktop items and my taskbar disappears for a second or 2. The only thing on my desktop that doesn't go blank is my desktop picture.
My Windows instalation of 2000 has somehow gotten rid of my avail to use 16 and 32 bit color settings. I can not bring it back. 98 had it and now my view of some internet pages is horrible.
My 4 year old niece was using my parents Dell PC Desktop. Its a pretty new computer. She must have pressed something because now the color is all screwed up. It has a red hue to it and the blues are too bright and the start button isnt green, its black. The resolution only goes to 32-bit. There are no other options.
I have windows XP and there are a few things that are starting to get on my nerves. First, everytime I start the computer the Color Quality goes from 32 bit to 16 bit for no apparent reason. Second, my cat walked on my keyboard and now everytime I start up the computer the Magnifier comes up. Neither of these things get in the way of using anything. They're just annoying and I can't figure out how to fix them.
I just upgraded to x64 version from 32 bit XP. But to my disappointment, the display properties only show up to 32 bit. Where is the 64 bit option? Here is the hardware I have: I had thought that while playing games, wherever there would be unmixed colors, they would now be mixed properly, like steam coming in dark areas in a game, or too many colors not fading into each other properly. But looks like I would need to do with the 32 bit only I guess.
Windows XP has only three color schemes to choose from. I wondered if there was a way to add new color schemes (and for that matter, a place to specifically find new color schemes) without installing software like Style XP or WindowBlinds. I just want to configure the color scheme, not everything else. Can this be done?
Is their any way to change the windows color schemes. Im sick of the three colors blue, silver, and green. Can someone tell me how to get more colors. (I just want new colors not a whole new theme).
I stared having this problem after installing SP2 on my compaq presario with Windows XP Home Edition. I'm using sbc yahoo dsl as my ISP, when i run the sbcyahoo program to log in, the window appears but it's all white, the text is there but no background color(background is usually light blue), and when my browser opens to the home page is the same thing, and to make things worse the text on the page is way too big. I use both browsers IE and SBCYAHOO and it's the same problem, I already tried to change browser settings on both but I have no changes at all, also I tried going into different websites and they all have no background colors.
does anyone know how to get it to be the normal way (dont know how else to explain it) and by normal i mean for the descriptions to not be boxed around with a seperate color
