i have searched everywhere to do this , no site seemed to know how to get rid of it so i am helping the troubled with this problem, well not really a problem but an adjustment..it is a piece of cake. first right click on the desktop, go to arrange icons by ,uncheck lock web items to desktop(bang it's done).

But now I can see the background color, before the change the icons were translucent and blended in with the red moon theme. How can I change it back? Plus I have the computer set fot adjust for best appearance.

So I was just check how different themes would look, then at the end I put it back to normal, but my desktop is acting really funny, because when I right click on the desktop, then go on Arange Icons by, I click on Auto Arange, all the icons bunch up really close together, so the My Computer Icon covers the My Document, name and so on.

Now, after the cleaning activity as explained by techguys, everything seems going well. All programs do start without problems (through the start-menu or the quick-start taskbar), but there is a small drawback: my desktop screen shows only my wallpaper, there are no icons. The right-mouse click on the desktop also doesn't work (although the desktopsettings are accessible through the control panel). The Help desk just updated my computer and now there are boxes surrounding the names of the desktop icons. I do not want these boxes. I can click the color flydown and apply a new color, but that doesn't affect the current desktop. On reboot, the rebooting, the new background color appears until late in the boot process when the background whites out.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI run a fairly old but trusty Dell desktop machine with Windows XP (Service Pack 3). It's been absolutely fine since I've had it and I've updated the ram some time ago. Then last night for absolutely no apparent reason, when I turned it on and it booted up it immediately looked 'different'. The task bar had changed colour and several of the icons were missing. The text was also in a slightly different font. I then got an error message which reads: 'Exception EOleSysError in module Skype.exe at 00095A71. The RPC server is unavailable.'

View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a used computer and monitor for my niece. They work fine, running xp. BUT the icons and fonts on the desktop are incredibly fuzzy. The photo used as the background is clear and crisp. It is only the icons and icon text that are fuzzy. I tried going to properties>appearnce>advanced, but the font is tahoma and 8. Went to properties>appearance>effects and fade effect is checked, also shadows, dragging contect, hide underlined letters. The edge smoothing was unchecked, so I tried standard>no change in fuzziness; tried clear type>no change in fuzziness.What am I missing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDouble clicking on the shortcut icons on the desktop wont work. Though folders, mp3 files and likealikes work. Even .exe works.Only Shortcuts not working. Though on right clicking and opening, they work. One more thing is, when i go to start>>programs and click on ANY program for it to start, that also doesnt work. The start menu simply vanishes or say minimizes. Though, when i right click and open them, they work.Both these problems are since pretty long time.

When I start Internet Explorer it all works fine with other icons maximising and minimising as they should. I have searched the internet and all I can find are instructions for how to put an application in the "Send to" of the right-click menu but I want Notepad to show up in the right-click "New" so I can right click a space in a folder and create a new text file in the folder. I recently uninstalled Adobe dreamweaver cs3 and Indesign cs3 from my PC. Could that be why it dissappeared from my right click menu? Anyhow, anyone know where this is in the registry. Oh yeah, I also have TWEAK UI but for some reason, in the templates, I can't create a new template there. And my icons have also gone crazy. View 1 Replies View RelatedI remember few days ago.. my kaspersky identified some system file as a trojan.. so it probably a misunderstanding when i was installing system mechanic. it got deleted.. and i have this automatic option to delete them after they are put in backup in kaspersky.
now whenever i open my pc, my desktop and taskbar and start menu,etc goes away after a few seconds! Now i rely on the task manager..
Several unwanted desktop icons appeared recently (I think they come via Search2000 when IE is used). They won't right-click for deletion, nor will they allow themselves to be drop-dragged to the recycle bin. They don't appear in the desktop icon list when using the desktop cleanup feature.
