I bought a used computer and monitor for my niece. They work fine, running xp. BUT the icons and fonts on the desktop are incredibly fuzzy. The photo used as the background is clear and crisp. It is only the icons and icon text that are fuzzy. I tried going to properties>appearnce>advanced, but the font is tahoma and 8. Went to properties>appearance>effects and fade effect is checked, also shadows, dragging contect, hide underlined letters. The edge smoothing was unchecked, so I tried standard>no change in fuzziness; tried clear type>no change in fuzziness.What am I missing?
I was running a program called "Virtual DJ", and it's a dj program, that turns the resolution to full screen, but while the app was in the process of going to full screen, my pc froze due to a lot of programs I had running, so now, the resolution on my computer is not how it normal should be, meaning, its not crisp like it was before, I mean at a first glance, most wouldnt notice anything, but if you look close, you can tell the text and icons are slighty stretched and blurry, so im going to post a screenshot of this page,so comapare this picture with yours,and look closly.I tried a system restore, but that dosnt even work(different issue)I think ti has to be a problem with the video card? Is there a way i could completly restor all display settings to factory...
whenever I run a fullscreen program for example a game, or go into standby mode and then resume to my desktop the icons, the windows and text etc are all quite blurred and not so crisp anymore. I had recently bought my laptop which is a Compaq Presario C793VU Notebook PC and it had Vista on it but I don't really like Vista so I downgraded to XP and installed most of the drivers that I could find. I would take screenshots of before standby/fullscreen and after except when I did both the images looked the same. After I restart/turn off my computer the display is fine until I stanby or play a game.
I have windows XP with the latest update.I have created shortcuts for some photos. What shows on the desktop are symbols. I want thumbnails of my photos instead. Right clicking on the symbol and then on "properties" does not give me the option to change anything except which program will open the file. Is there a way to change these symbols to thumbnails? How do I do it?
When I log off and back on, my desktop icons and the fonts are all 800X600 instead of 1280X1024. I can change it back but it only lasts until my next shut down and restart.
i have searched everywhere to do this , no site seemed to know how to get rid of it so i am helping the troubled with this problem, well not really a problem but an adjustment..it is a piece of cake. first right click on the desktop, go to arrange icons by ,uncheck lock web items to desktop(bang it's done).
My new Toshiba laptop, am cleaning the what, the junk outta it. Somehow my old GTWY desktop had like 500 fonts and was slowing the machine, finally removed 125 or so and its OK.BUT The Toshiba has TWO separate directorys chock full of fonts, most of them duplicates! Each has its own directory with a slightly diff name
i would like know how to printer all fonts, not full fonts but full fonts in one or two paper!?(not printer each fonts in every one pages) its too many
On my daughters old computer with windowsxp(home edition) which is slowly being updated from net (computer man set up automatically). Well computer slowed updates ready so I installed them then restarted computer for them to be activated now computer screen only shows background no icons, no start, nothing, can't get anything to come up on screen.
when i boot up xp windows starts,loads my personal settings,displays my background but no icons and no task bar.the only way to access any files is thro a command line in task manager.i can't drag shortcuts onto my desktop,but all my programs seem to be working fine.everything was okay(well within reason),the last thing i did was to transfer some mp3 files onto a sony m2 stick.

Everytime I start my computer up, it gets where it loads the background, but none of the icons. It takes a minute or two for it to load the icons. It doesnt even sound like its loading anything during that minute.
i chose to add a web page to the desktop,when i checked to see if it was added ,it hadn,t been and since then all icons on desktop are now highlited. and the background has gone darker, this has caused start up to be very slow.
I have a personal picture on my desktop as the background and the desktop icons all had clear background instead of a background color...then my daughter punched a whole bunch of keys and now the icon backgrounds are grey like my background color!! i forget how to set them back to clear, can anyone tell me how
RE: desktop ikons: when I place my pointer on an ikon, I don't get the description anymore. How can I get them back Also; There is something that starts automatically running @ 8:00A.M.; but have not scheduled anything for that time. How can I find out what's running in the background??
Dell inspiron 1300. The laptop goes fuzzy at the bottom half of the screen when the computer starts. It goes clear again straight when the booting sequence starts. (sometimes it boots fine). I am also getting random BSOD's now. Memory_managemet / fault to non paged area / usb etc. I was thinking mabe someting in the bios/motherboard is corrupt. An update to the bios didnt fix it.
When i start my computer all i see is the desktop background. No icons, no task bar. After restarting the computer between 3 and 6 times the icons and taskbar will eventually appear.I've been reading up on the problem for around a month now and tried many different things to solve it. Really dont want to format computer. I dont no too much so please be step by step in any anwsers left.
I am using Windows XP Professional and I am unsure of what happened to my desktop. I don't recall installing anything to make it change. But now I can see the background color, before the change the icons were translucent and blended in with the red moon theme. How can I change it back? Plus I have the computer set fot adjust for best appearance.
I just got a new laptop and I have it in my docking station, the display looks grainy or not very crisp. I have the settings at 1024x768 pisels and 32 bit color, any other setting I try looks really bad. What can I do to make this look sharp!?
I'm looking for Photo Editor in Windows XP. The reason why is because it worked well when I wanted to run my scanner as a twain device in 98. I can't find Photo.ED now.Does anyone know how to install Photo-ed in XP? IF not, what application works as a twain with a scanner?
Running Windows XP on a HP Pavillion zv6000. The past several months it has started trying to install PhotoGallery and nothing I am trying will make it quit. I've tried registry fix, I've gone to Microsoft and gotten their fix for it and that won't work.
I tried to print off a picture in Microsoft Photo Editor and was unable to.The following error screens came up: "printer error" and " insufficient memory". My printer is set as the default printer. I tried to print other pictures and got the same response.I need to correct this problem so I can print pictures if needed.
i have done something in " my pictures " and do not know what i have done when i go to my pictures i no longer see a thumbnail of a piccy..just an icon of paint shop pro. i changed the file type to " open with " windows picture and fax viewer but still no joy and now my pictures cannot be opened by any program
Using Adobe Photo deluxe with windows xp and now it won't load due to the above message. it also states C:|WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application. Has anyone experienced this and how can it be easily corrected as I am only an intermediate computer user?
Since installing Windows XP SP2, I am not able to install the MSN groups photo uploader to post pics on my site. I have tried disabling anything that could be preventing this: firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and also tried adjusting security settings...I get the message "installation failed", and a tiny security shield appears for about 3 seconds next my pointer.
Recently my son sent home 3 CDs with photos from his travels in South America.2 work fine, the third one cannot be read on my PC, however I can see the photos on my DVD (not computer) player. DVD lists 110 jpg files, 2 photos seem damaged and the slideshow gets stuck on them, but I can restart the slideshow from good photos. he sent many disks up to now, I burn CDs for photo storage on regular basis,this is the first time I experienced this kind of problem .
When I try to right click on the disk to open it in Explorer my PC shows empty disk. I tried to open the disk from different applications like ACDSee 5, copy the disk using Roxio Easy CD creator to no avail
