Desktop Icon Lable Background Transparent
Dec 10, 2007My desktop Icon letters are in a highlighted colored box. I have tried to remove the colored box to make it transparent by going to start then control panel then system and click on the advanced tab , click settings under performance, under the visual effects tab I chose ( Checked) use drop shadows for icons labels. clicked apply and it does not work. Help Please:

Sep 1, 2005i setup my office computer to be accessed remotely from home (both xp pro). i did this for the first time yesterday. this morning when i get to work i open outlook and it looks funny. when i hover over any menu item or toolbar the option is highlighted white (instead of its default blue)plus, each toolbar is "outlined".it looks like it has a perforation around it.i tried opening other office programs and they are all the same no other programs are experiencing problems.it looks like it is showing 16 Bit colors.my desktop icons are no longer transparent. i ran into this before and never figured it out it just corrected itself.

Jul 23, 2005I am using Windows XP and for about 2 months (I guess) certain websites look funny. As an exmple, the background for Yahoo is white even though I have tried to change it to a theme that yahoo offers. The text size also is too big and all over the place- looks weird. I have tried everything I can think of but i am a novice and am wondering if there is some simple answer here or something else I can try? Is it XP or a problem with my browser? MSN also has only a white background with big letters that look awkward. If I try to change the background to blue, it won't do it. It's driving me nuts!

But when I type the command 'start', it opens a new window with blue text and green background.I think it does this because I download the program Replacer, which runs in DOS and makes the screen those colors. I also think the Replacer program did something to the system Path which modifies DOS to make it those colors when running a new window.

Jan 7, 2008I was running a program called "Virtual DJ", and it's a dj program, that turns the resolution to full screen, but while the app was in the process of going to full screen, my pc froze due to a lot of programs I had running, so now, the resolution on my computer is not how it normal should be, meaning, its not crisp like it was before, I mean at a first glance, most wouldnt notice anything, but if you look close, you can tell the text and icons are slighty stretched and blurry, so im going to post a screenshot of this page,so comapare this picture with yours,and look closly.I tried a system restore, but that dosnt even work(different issue)I think ti has to be a problem with the video card? When she scrolled down, then back up, some of it was back. The text was there, we just couldn't see it because of the display being weird. Dual core 3.4ghz Dell, 2gb RAM. Fairly new machine, XP pro.

Oct 26, 2008whenever I run a fullscreen program for example a game, or go into standby mode and then resume to my desktop the icons, the windows and text etc are all quite blurred and not so crisp anymore. I had recently bought my laptop which is a Compaq Presario C793VU Notebook PC and it had Vista on it but I don't really like Vista so I downgraded to XP and installed most of the drivers that I could find. I would take screenshots of before standby/fullscreen and after except when I did both the images looked the same. After I restart/turn off my computer the display is fine until I stanby or play a game.

May 27, 2008I bought a used computer and monitor for my niece. They work fine, running xp. BUT the icons and fonts on the desktop are incredibly fuzzy. The photo used as the background is clear and crisp. It is only the icons and icon text that are fuzzy. I tried going to properties>appearnce>advanced, but the font is tahoma and 8. Went to properties>appearance>effects and fade effect is checked, also shadows, dragging contect, hide underlined letters. The edge smoothing was unchecked, so I tried standard>no change in fuzziness; tried clear type>no change in fuzziness.What am I missing?
